Abstract

Introduction: The primary issue facing diabetes patients today is the lack of adherence to their treatment plans. The high prevalence of diabetes poses a significant challenge for both patients and their fami-lies. This study aims to describe medication adherence, dietary habits, and physical exercise among patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: This study is a descriptive analysis involving 82 partici-pants selected through a purposive sampling technique. The study in-cluded patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who had been diagnosed for at least one year, lived with their families, and did not have any men-tal health issues. Data collection was conducted by visiting respondents at their homes. The questionnaire was administered with the assis-tance of a researcher and an enumerator, taking approximately 20 to 25 minutes to complete. Results: The study found that nonadherence to diet, medication, and exercise among type 2 diabetes patients remains high, with rates of 73.2%, 72.0%, and 61.0%, respectively. Conclusion: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who have been diagnosed for more than one year exhibit poor diabetes management. These patients struggle to maintain a consistent medication and die-tary schedule and fail to engage in regular physical exercise.

Abstract

Introduction: Nurses are one of the frontline healthcare workers who are highly vulnerable to exposure to COVID-19. Physical and mental ex-haustion can be experienced by nurses working under the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. This exhaustion reflects the phenomenon of burnout. The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia also poses a risk of causing stress for all healthcare workers, especially nurses at Wonosari Regional General Hospital. Methods: This study was conducted to describe the levels of burnout and work stress among nurses at Wonosari Regional General Hospital dur-ing the COVID-19 pandemic. The research design used was quantitative with a descriptive-analytic approach. Results: The study found that nurses at Wonosari Regional General Hospital experienced burnout ranging from low to moderate levels, with none experiencing high levels of burnout. This could be attributed to the hospital's ability to meet the nurses' basic needs, such as adequate rest periods. Nurses at Wonosari Regional General Hospital experienced work stress ranging from mild to very severe levels. This could be due to the fear of contracting the virus, which poses a potential risk of death. The levels of burnout and work stress among nurses at the hospital varied, ranging from mild to very severe levels. Conclusion: This study provides hospital policymakers with an over-view of the condition of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the hope that the policies implemented can ensure safety and comfort, thereby reducing burnout and work stress among nurses during the pandemic.

Abstract

Introduction: Adolescence is a transitional developmental period characterized by biological, cognitive, and socio-emotional changes. During this stage, adolescents are particularly vulnerable to emotional disturbances. In addition to depression and anxiety, these disturbances may include irritability, frustration, or excessive anger. One of the cur-rent phenomena contributing to adolescents' emotional challenges is gadget addiction. Frequent and excessive use of gadgets increases the risk of emotional and mental development issues in adolescents. The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between gadget addiction and emotional disturbances in adolescents. Methods: This study employed quantitative descriptive research methods with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected using stratified ran-dom sampling techniques, resulting in 279 respondents. Data were ana-lyzed using the Spearman Rank Test. Results: The Spearman Rank Test analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant re-lationship between gadget addiction and emotional disturbances in adolescents at SMA X Denpasar. The correlation coefficient value was 0.676, demonstrating a strong and positive relationship between gadg-et addiction and emotional disturbances. Among the five subscales of the questionnaire used in this study, most students showed emotional problems related to their learning experiences at school. Additionally, students exhibited symptoms such as restlessness, anxiety, irritability, and difficulty controlling their emotions. Conclusion: Adolescents are encouraged to use gadgets more responsibly and to balance their screen time with physical activities to mitigate emotional disturbances and promote overall well-being.

Abstract

Cancer wounds are complex wounds with various challenges, and one of essential interventions used is chemotherapy. However, the clin-ical effects of chemotherapy on the status of cancer wounds have not been extensively reviewed, raising the question of whether it has bene-ficial or detrimental effects. The study wanted to identify whether chemotherapy can induce autolytic debridement. A prospective case study involved a patient who underwent four treatment sessions in a regional hospital in eastern Indonesia. Wound assessment was per-formed using the Bates-Jensen Wound Assessment Tool (BWAT). In the first wound treatment, the BWAT score was 38; by the fourth treat-ment, the score increased to 45, suggesting a worsening of the wound status. However, this anomaly is positive for the wound status, as au-tolysis occurred in the slough and necrotic tissue resulting from the chemotherapy. This case study illustrates the positive effect of chemo-therapy on necrotic and slough tissue by inducing autolytic debride-ment.

Abstract

Background: Cigarettes are cylindrical objects that contain many dangerous additives. The danger of smoking is that it can cause perio-dontitis (gums inflammation, pharyngitis (throat infection), laryngitis (infection of the larynx and vocal cords), and bronchitis (infection of the bronchial tubes). Protecting the dangers of smoking can be provided through health education. Health education can be provided using several methods. One of them is the lecture method using interesting media such as PowerPoint and bookletsObjective: To determine the difference in increasing knowledge of the dangers of smoking between the Health Education lecture method with PowerPoint media and booklets. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental method with a two-group pretest and posttest. The 63 respondents in the sample were di-vided into 31 respondents in the booklet group (B) and 32 respondents in the PowerPoint group (P). The questionnaire contains 15 questions used to measure knowledge of the dangers of smoking. Results: The mean value was 66.34 for the PowerPoint media lecture approach and 76.16 for the booklet media lecture method. The Mann-Whitney test indicated a difference between the two presentations (p = 0.010).Conclusions: There is a difference in increasing knowledge about the dangers of smoking between health education lecture methods with PowerPoint media and booklets.

Abstract

Introduction: Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in Indonesia is still a serious concern in the world, especially in endemic areas. This disease arises and is transmitted from the Dengue virus through the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which can be suffered from toddlers to adults. If not treated immediately, it can lead to death. The government is promoting a mosquito nest eradication program through the 5M movement (draining, covering, burying, replacing water, and sprinkling larvicide powder) as a key preventive measure in reducing the spread of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes that depend on community behavior. Objective: This study aims to find out the picture of community behavior in Mosquito Nest Eradication (5M) as an effort to prevent dengue fever in Banjar Tengkulak Kaja Kauh, the working area of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit of the Sukawati I Health Center. Methods: The research was quantitative descriptive with a simple random sampling technique and involved 175 samples. Data was collected using questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents were categorized as having fair behavior, as many as 112 respondents (64%), 53 respondents (30.3%) had good behavior, and 10 respondents (5.7%) had poor behavior. Conclusion: Most of the community's behavior was found to be in a fair category, which shows that although the community's knowledge and attitudes are relatively good, there is still a gap in the implementation of the action, so sustainable programs and social support are needed to increase the active participation of the community in the eradication of mosquito nests.
