Abstract

This systematic review aims to summarize the role of bupropion in the management of internet gaming disorder (IGD) patients. Five electronic databases were searched without date restrictions until September 10, 2021. Four studies with a moderate risk of bias were included. Compared to escitalopram, bupropion showed better improvement in reducing addictive use of online gaming and IGD severity (low certainty). Compared with placebo or no treatment, bupropion was better in reducing addictive use of online gaming, IGD severity, and the total time of online game playing (low to moderate certainty). The combination of bupropion with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) was superior to bupropion alone in reducing the addictive use of online gaming and the total time of online game playing (low certainty). Bupropion may be effective in improving IGD symptoms. However, there is an evident need for more extensive randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with better methodology and longer follow-up before more conclusions can be drawn.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to examine the association between factors affecting birth asphyxia and its incidence a year before and after HBB first training conducted in Grobogan, Central Java. Methods: This research was an analytical observational preliminary study with a cross-sectional design. Birth records data collected from 30 primary health care from January to December 2020 in Grobogan, Central Java. Data analyzed with a computer statistical analysis program using χ2 test and Fisher's exact test. Result: Based on 191 medical records from infants born during the year before and 186 medical records from infants born during the year after HBB training, there was an 11.5% decrease in the incidence of birth asphyxia compared before and after the training. Results of the χ2 test showed a significant association between the HBB training with the incidence of birth asphyxia (p = 0.014). Before the HBB training, prematurity has a significant association with the prevalence of birth asphyxia (p < 0.001). Furthermore, there is no associated factor that has a significant association with the prevalence of birth asphyxia after the training (p> 0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant decrease in the incidence of birth asphyxia compared between the year after and 1 year before HBB training. Meanwhile, prematurity has a significant association with the incidence before HBB training.

Abstract

Background: Post-stroke conditions can have an impact on the sleep quality of the elderly. Sleep disorders are a common health problem for the elderly, requiring serious attention. Poor sleep quality in the elderly is caused by increased sleep potential, reduced sleep efficiency, and early awakenings due to the ageing process. Objective: This research aims to determine the effectiveness of a 30-degree lateral sleeping position compared to a supine sleeping position on the sleep quality of elderly individuals post-stroke. Method: The design of this research uses a quasi-experiment design with a non-equivalent control group design approach. The study will be conducted in 2023 in Ekasari Village, Jembrana Regency, Bali. The total research population is 126 elderly individuals, and the sample size meeting the criteria is 64 respondents, divided into 32 respondents in the intervention group and 32 respondents in the control group. Data analysis in this study uses the Mann-Whitney U Test. Results: The Mann-Whitney U Test shows a difference between the intervention and control groups (p = 0.000, Z score = -4.830), which means that the 30-degree lateral sleep position is better at helping older people who have had a stroke sleep better than the supine sleep position. Conclusion: Post-stroke elderly individuals tend to experience an improvement in sleep quality when they sleep in the lateral position of 30 degrees. Therefore, elderly people who are having sleep quality issues can adopt this sleeping position to improve their sleep.

Abstract

Demodecosis, also known as Red Mange, Acarus Mange, and Follicular Mange, is a skin disease caused by the mite Demodex canis. Demodecosis infection can occur in dogs of all ages. This study aims to diagnose and treat the infection of Demodex sp in chow-chow dogs. Clinical signs include generalized alopecia, scales, and crusts found on the body's surface, followed by dehydration symptoms, poor skin turgor, and long CRT. Supporting examinations to determine demodecosis infection are carried out using the deep skin scrapping test method. Next, a hematological exam was carried out. The hematology examination interpreted the blood analysis results to indicate that the dog had normochromic microcytic anemia. A decrease in RBC, hemoglobin, and hematocrit indicates anemia. A low MCV indicates Microcytic, and normochromic is due to a normal MCHC. Treatment is carried out by administering ivermectin, diphenhydramine HCl, and longamox.

Abstract

The eye is an essential organ for living things, as one of the five senses of the eye is very vulnerable to infectious or non-infectious diseases. The orbital tumor is one of the disorders in the cat's eye that can attack the eye muscles, nerves, and lacrimal glands. This study aims to diagnose and treat the enucleation of bulbus oculi in domestic cats and patients with orbital tumors. This activity was carried out at the Veterinary Practice "Drh. Juliadi Ramadhan, M.Si." Jl. Payakumbuh-Lintau No. 12 Regency 50 City, West Sumatra Province. The results showed that one of the treatments for orbital tumor cases can be done by enucleation of the oculi bulk. This operation uses a subconjunctival method to remove the eye, the nictitating membrane, and a little eyelid by minimizing the removal of extraocular muscle tissue. After surgery, intense treatment is carried out by maintaining the sanitation of the cage and administering anti-inflammatory drugs, antibiotics, and vitamins.

Abstract

Introduction: Referral for asphyxia newborns is the process of transferring newborns with difficult breathing conditions from one health facility to another. Emergency management of asphyxia newborns must be handled properly; one of the examples is taught in a Helping Babies Breath (HBB) training. Other factors that influence the determinants of referral are positive-pressure ventilation action, the state of hypothermia, and the duration of referral. Methods: The research design used in this study was cross-sectional. The samples were collected by purposive sampling from January 2019 to December 2020 from the medical records of Puskesmas Kabupaten Grobogan. Results: There was no significant association between the success rate of referral for asphyxia newborns and the Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) training (p=0.213). Before the HBB was implemented, there was no significant association between the incident and positive-pressure ventilation action (p = 0.092). Still, there was a significant association between the incidence of hypothermia (p=<0.001) and referral duration (p=0.011). After the HBB was implemented, there was no significant association between the incident with positive-pressure ventilation action (p=0.758) and the duration of the referral (p=0.2). Still, there was a significant association with the incidence of hypothermia (p=0.002). Conclusion: There is a significant association between the success rate of referral of asphyxia newborns and hypothermia before and after the HBB Program was implemented and the duration of referrals before the HBB Program was implemented.

Abstract

Introduction: The physiological aging process in older adults may lead to various disturbances in the cardiovascular system, including hypertension. One approach to controlling blood pressure is through progressive muscle relaxation therapy. This study aimed to investigate the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on blood pressure in older adults with hypertension at the Social Service Unit for Older Adults in Blitar and Nursing Home in Tulungagung in 2023. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a one-group pre-post test design. The population consisted of all older adults with hypertension at the research site in 2023, totaling 80 individuals. Purposive sampling was used to recruit the samples of 39 participants. Observation sheets and a sphygmomanometer were utilized for data collection. Result: The results showed that before receiving progressive muscle relaxation therapy, most participants had stage-1 hypertension, with 23 participants (59%), and stage-2 hypertension, with 16 participants (41%). After the therapy, the majority of participants were included in the stage-1 hypertension category, with 26 participants (67%), and prehypertension, with 5 participants (13%). The Wilcoxon test showed a significant value of ρ = 0.000 < α = (0.05), indicating the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on blood pressure. This means that regular therapy sessions may lead to better blood pressure control in hypertensive patients. Conclusion: Progressive muscle relaxation therapy can increase endorphin hormone production and reduce stress levels, thereby stabilizing blood pressure.
