Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease patients undergoing hemodialysis can cause stress to the patient. The longer the patient suffers from Chronic Kidney Disease, the more the patient has a variety of experiences with stressors due to the disease. These experiences can be used as an anticipatory effort in dealing with stressors experienced by patients. The purpose of this was the relationship between the duration of hemodialysis and the coping mechanism of patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. This study used descriptive quantitative, with a correlation design and a cross-sectional approach. The sample was 111 patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. Sampling technique used the purposive sampling technique. The data collection instrument used a jalowiec coping scale questionnaire and length of underwent hemodialysis. The results showed that most respondents underwent hemodialysis in the category <8 months (70.3%). The coping mechanisms in most patients were categorized as adaptive (55%). It was concluded that there was a relationship between the duration of hemodialysis and the coping mechanism in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis (p = 0,000). The correlation strength value is 0.402 (moderate strength), and the direction of the correlation is negative, it shows that if the length of time is more than eight months, then the patient's coping mechanism becomes adaptive. The patient has accepted the situation he was undergoing, which is due to routine hemodialysis, which causes the patient to often meet other patients with the same problem so that by often telling each other they can share experiences and problems and encourage each other.

Abstract

This study re-analyzed a detailed aspect of the emerging adult developmental period among a small sample of participants living with a complex (chronic) heart defect. The purpose of this analysis was to explore narratives specific to work and career variables among people with chronic heart disease. A qualitative secondary analysis was conducted to extract work and career variables from existing qualitative telephone semi-structured interviews (N=7). Three themes were identified from the analysis: (a) different from my peers’, (b) restructure and reframe’, and (c) ‘trying to find my niche in life. Congenital heart disease makes one reframe to approach life, ‘disrupts’ achieving developmental tasks. That would impact adult role expectations.

The number of research samples was obtained by 64 respondents. The instruments in this study were questionnaires to find out the level of knowledge and attitudes of the level of fire disaster mitigation efforts. The hypothesis test used was the Paired T-test on the knowledge sub variable and Wilcoxon on the attitude sub variable. The study found both knowledge and attitude towards fire catastrophe mitigation improved between the pretest and posttest. The improvement in knowledge was 3.9 points, whereas the improvement in attitude was 4. The Sig result was 0.00 based on the t-test analysis of the knowledge sub variable. Furthermore, the Sig result was 0.00 based on the Wilcoxon analysis of attitude sub variable. It can be concluded that Nursing Disaster Education has an effect in improving fire disaster mitigation efforts in students and teachers in high schools.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormal insulin secretion. Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) is an important role in preventing or delaying complications in people with pre-diabetes and diabetes. Aim of study is to analize effect of Diabetes Self Management Education (DSME) with audiovisual media on self-care and decreasing blood sugar levels in diabetes mellitus patients type II Methods: Using a quasy experiment research design with control group design. Samples is 34 respondents (17 respondents in the control group and 17 respondents in the experimental group) that chosen randomly with odd and even way according to data patients DM. Self care measured by Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activity (SDSCA) questionnaire, and blood sugar level measure with a glucometer. Intervention group given DSME for 14 days, and control group get treatment according to community standards. Bivariate analysis used the non-parametric Wilcoxon test and to see the difference between pre-test and post-test on the self-care variable and to see the differences between groups using the Mann-Whitney test. Analysis of bivariate test on blood sugar levels drop variables using parametric test Paired T-Test and to see the difference between groups using Independent T-Test test. Results: The results of the Wilcoxon test of self-care control group p=0.246 (p=<0.05), so there is no effect, the experimental group p = 0.005 (p=<0.05), so that concluded no effect. Mann-Whitney test results with personal care and experimental control group p=0.000 (p=<0.05), so that there is a significant difference. Results of Paired T-Test blood sugar control group p = 0.812 (p =<0.05), so there is no effect, the experimental group, p = 0.000 (p=<0.05), so that concluded no effect. The results of the Independent T-Test blood sugar levels in the control and experimental groups p=0.020 (p=<0.05), so there is a significant difference in effect. Conclusion: There is the influence of Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) The Audiovisual Media on self-care and decrease blood sugar levels in people with Type II DiabetsMellitus.

Abstract

Background: Indicators of recovery outcomes are selected by mental health nurses beginning with a commitment to a holistic and client-centered view of recovery. The purpose of the review aimed to bring together the results of previous systematic reviews on instruments for assessing the recovery of people with serious mental illnesses. Methods: A systematic literature review was carried out using the guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute for systematic reviews. A literature search using The ScienceDirect, SpringerLink electronic databases, Google Scholar, and a Google search engine was used. Searching in literature published between January 2010 and December 2020, supplemented by reference tracking and Internet searches. The authors independently reviewed all titles, assessed articles’ eligibility for inclusion, determined a methodological quality score for each included article and extracted relevant data. Results: Out of 19,724 articles related to the title for potential inclusion in this review, four met the inclusion criteria. The eligibility tools appear to have been studied in various settings and with varied types of patients but are still congruent with SIM. Most importantly, the reviews identified several methodological limitations across the original studies. The lack of a ‘gold standard. This review found twenty-two dimensions in personal recovery instruments and twenty-one in mental health services orientation. Also, many recovery assessment tools are available for the serious mental illness population. However, there is limited evidence about their psychometric properties. Conclusion: Three instruments were found that could measure the personal recovery of people with serious mental illnesses. Those instruments' psychometric properties and cultural adaptation are recommended for further studies.
