Abstract

This study evaluates the growth performance of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) utilizing various fermented products as organic fertilizers. Growth performance is determined through the plant’s weight and leaves and significant differences in growth among various treatments: (a) fish trash, (b) scrap seaweeds, (c) kangkong, and control groups urea (positive) and water (negative) was also determined. Kangkong leaves are fermented for 10 days, fish trash for 14 days and 1 month for seaweeds. Lettuce seeds are sown before transplanting (15 days after germination) into pots and placed in raised beds. Randomized complete block design is utilized in the experiment. Growth performance is measured through the number of leaves 10, 20, and 30 days after transplant and mass of plant upon harvest. After 30 days, the lettuce was harvested. Based on the findings, the soil and fermented products are acidic and the needed organic matter for optimum growth of lettuce are not sufficient as well as some nutrients of the fermented products. Among the organic fertilizers, kangkong at 30 ml performs best in terms of the growth performance of lettuce. Urea performs best in terms of the mass upon harvest. Significant differences exist in the mean number of leaves of lettuce treated with various amounts of organic fertilizers with the plants that receive urea. Lettuce produce more number of leaves and with the highest mass upon harvest when treated with urea compared with organic fertilizers applied after 30 days from transplant. Keywords: fermented kangkong; fish trash; growth performance; lettuce; scrap seaweeds

Abstract

Statistics as an analysis technique can not only be used to make descriptions, but also to make estimates and generalizations. To be able to know and deepen knowledge about statistics, knowledge of research methodology must be possessed. In this study will discuss the arithmetic mean, median and mode for single data and group data, and the related relationship between arithmetic mean, median and mode. So it will be proved that the mode plus the average of the count is equal to three times the median. Keywords: mean; median; mode

Abstract

Introduction: Efforts to improve nutrition for the prevention of stunting include specific interventions with specific targets, namely pregnant women in the form of supplementary feeding for pregnant and lactating mothers. Micronutrient food sources that are still not maximized are processed including jackfruit seeds (Arthocarphus heterophilus), Soybean (Glycine max L. Mer) and Moringa oleifera leaves. Objective: Determine the right formulation in making kalelo yogurt as a probiotic and PMT to prevent stunting. Methods: Post-test only design method with yogurt formula treatment. The resulting yogurt was seen as having an effect on the amount of lactic acid bacteria, total acid and pH. The statistical analysis used was Complete Randomized Design (CRD) 3 X 2 followed by Duncan test to see the difference in mineral content of each formulation with α 0.05. Results: The number of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) ranged from 5.8 x108 to 1.8 x109, fulfilling the SNI Yoghurt standard with the highest number of F3 formulas. Total acid ranged from 11-1.2% calculated as lactic acid, fulfilling standard SNI yogurt with the highest amount of formula F2. Total solids of yoghurt formula ranged from 16.29% -16.79%, fulfilling standard SNI yogurt with the highest value of Formula F1 & F3. The pH value of Kalelo yogurt is 3.8 with a formula that has the best pH, namely F2 formula. Discussion: LAB can develop during fermentation because it uses sugar from carbohydrates in the formula. During the fermentation process, lactose derived from skim milk will be hydrolyzed by the enzyme β-galactosidase to glucose and galactose, then converted to lactic acid. The high amount of solids is caused by the addition of soybeans, jackfruit seeds which are high in sugar content. Organic acids cause a decrease in pH during the fermentation process. In addition to increasing incubation time, microbial activity is increasing and the number of microbes is increasing, resulting in pH decreasing. Conclusion: The number of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), the amount of acid calculated as lactic acid, the amount of solids and the value of PH calelo yogurt fulfills the SNI standard of yoghurt. Abstract

Tracing graduates offers empirical data about the graduates' employment and competencies. The study aimed to assess relevance of the program's curriculum and seeks to provide empirical data on the employment and competencies of the graduates of Eastern Visayas State University- Ormoc City Campus in 2005-2017 since this is the first time to conduct a tracer study. Using a descriptive survey, 241 graduates responded to a CHED standardized tracer study questionnaire. Frequency counts, percentage, mean, and ranking were used. Results revealed that the most of the graduates who responded were female, single professionals and working in the government with regular or permanent status. Most of the respondents are BS Mechanical and Civil Engineering and mostly Board Examination passers. Some of the respondents landed on their first job within the span of six months with gross monthly salary is within Php 5,000 to Php 15,000. Most of the respondents have stayed with their job for salaries and benefits and have claimed that their job is relevant to the program they took up in the university and they find their learned communication skills to be very useful at work. Graduates should be prepared with the skills and knowledge required to contribute to the success of the licensure examination leading to stable and secure employment. Abstract

Nowadays there are a lot of immunity diseases experienced by the community, one of which is leprosy. Leprosy is a chronic disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium leprae (M. leprae). The first time it attacks the peripheral nervous system, it can then attack the skin, mucosa (mouth), upper respiratory tract, endothelial reticule system, eyes, muscles, bones and testes. Leprosy is generally found in developing countries. As a result of the country's limited ability to provide adequate services in the fields of health, education, socio-economic prosperity in the community The purpose of this study was to Describe Personal Hygiene and Length of Contact in Persons Affected by Leprosy in the Work Area of South Buano Health Center in Waisala District, West Seram Regency The research used is analytic descriptive research using the Observational approach. The sample used was 30 respondents. Data collection was done by questionnaire by direct interview. The collected data is then processed and analyzed using the Microsoft Excel program computer and the Statistical Program (SPSS) version 24. From the results of the personal Hygiene analysis both were 10 respondent (33%) and the bad was 20 respondents (67%). Keywords :, Personal Hygiene, Length of Contact

Abstract

It is important to assess the level of satisfaction among university students because research findings linked satisfaction with academic performance. This study aims to validate the level of satisfaction assessment tool, which would measure the characteristics of the instrument. The respondents were 231 students of the university. The data were collected using a survey questionnaire. Exploratory factor analysis and descriptive statistics were the methods utilized. Estimation of main components of the analysis utilized the Varimax rotation method, extraction of factors used eigenvalues greater than one, and for selection of items. Reliability of assessment tool was measured with the use of Cronbach’s alpha. The analysis resulted three factors which explained 51.7% of the total variance. The three factors were: Personal and Professional satisfaction, Student Support satisfaction and Instruction-related satisfaction. The reliability of the scale was α = .861, and its factors were 0.810, 0.753, and 0.717, respectively. These were within the minimum acceptable value. Results showed that the scale was reliable and valid tool to determine the level of satisfaction among university students. Keywords: Student’s satisfaction, Factor analysis, Reliability, Validity
