Abstract

This article explores the relationship between corporate governance and sustainability strategies in a global context. The study highlights the crucial role of boards of directors in formulating and overseeing company strategies, especially when facing challenges related to social and environmental sustainability. Boards are responsible for ensuring that companies focus not only on short-term financial gains but also on sustainable strategies that consider social and environmental impacts. Board diversity, including experience, skills, and backgrounds, plays an essential role in making more innovative and adaptive strategic decisions in response to market changes and global policies. Furthermore, good corporate governance strengthens corporate social responsibility (CSR) and positively impacts the long-term performance of companies. This study provides insights into the challenges boards face in managing risks and aligning long-term business goals with the expectations of other stakeholders.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the leadership dynamics within Top Management Teams (TMT) and their influence on strategic decision-making in Indonesian banks. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, collecting data through document analysis and indirect interviews. The results indicate that diversity within TMT, in terms of educational background, experience, and gender, positively influences the quality and innovation of strategic decisions. This diversity allows TMT to develop decisions that are more adaptive to external changes, such as technological advancements and regulatory changes. However, challenges arise in the decision-making process, particularly regarding difficulties in reaching consensus among TMT members. The power dynamics within TMT, whether centralized or distributed, also play an important role in strategic decision-making. These findings provide important insights for Indonesian banks to strengthen internal collaboration and diversity to create more innovative and adaptive strategic decisions in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of the interaction between power, culture, and learning in the formulation of organizational strategy. Power within an organization, which is distributed across various levels, affects who can make strategic decisions and how these decisions are accepted and implemented. Organizational culture, encompassing values, norms, and customs, plays a crucial role in determining how strategies are developed and executed. Organizational learning, as a continuous process of acquiring knowledge and experience, allows organizations to adapt to market and technological changes. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing document analysis and relevant literature studies. The results indicate that these three elements interact and significantly influence the formation of organizational strategies. Organizations that can effectively manage power, culture, and learning have a greater chance of formulating and implementing successful, adaptive, and sustainable strategies. However, a lack of harmony among these elements may hinder the effectiveness of the strategies implemented. Therefore, it is crucial for organizational leaders to understand these internal dynamics and ensure that these three elements support each other in strategy formulation and execution.

Abstract

This article discusses the application of competitive strategy and collaborative strategy in the emergence of new industries in Indonesia, focusing on two key sectors: fintech and renewable energy. In the fintech industry, companies such as GoPay, OVO, and DANA use competitive strategies to gain an advantage through product differentiation and cost efficiency. On the other hand, in the renewable energy industry, collaborative strategies involving partnerships between companies, the government, and research institutions play a crucial role in overcoming infrastructure and financing challenges. This article demonstrates that although these two strategies are often viewed as separate approaches, they complement each other and are key in creating a growing industrial ecosystem. Based on this analysis, it is recommended that companies in Indonesia integrate both strategies to foster sustainability and growth in emerging industries.

Abstract

The economic disparity between Western and Eastern Indonesia (KTI) remains a primary challenge in national development policy. Despite abundant natural resources, the eastern region faces significant obstacles in human capital development, investment attraction, price stability, and export competitiveness. A quantitative study examining 12 eastern provinces from 2017-2024 employed panel data regression analysis with Random Effect modeling. The study reveal that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and inflation have significantly negative impacts on economic growth. Conversely, the Human Development Index (HDI) and exports demonstrate moderately positive effects, while the Open Unemployment Rate shows negative but statistically insignificant influence. These results highlight the importance of enhancing human resource quality and strengthening export capacity, alongside the necessity for careful foreign investment monitoring and inflation control to achieve sustainable economic growth in eastern Indonesia. The study aims to provide evidence-based guidance for central and regional governments in formulating more contextual, equitable, and sustainable development policies.

Abstract

This study systematically reviews behavioral factors contributing to indebtedness, analyzing 60 articles from Scopus, Science Direct, Google Scholar, and Web of Science databases using the PRISMA framework. Key findings identify low financial literacy, materialism, negative emotions, risk perception, consumer behavior, and behavioral biases (such as overconfidence) as key drivers. Demographic and socioeconomic factors act as moderators, and over-indebtedness is negatively associated with health and well-being. It concludes that indebtedness is a complex interaction of cognitive, affective, and dispositional dimensions, and effective interventions must be multifaceted, encompassing education and mitigation of maladaptive behaviors for sustainable financial well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the work environment, work motivation, and career development on employee performance at PT. Angkasa Pura Aviasi. These variables were selected because they are considered key factors that can affect both individual and organizational productivity and success overall. The research employs a quantitative approach with data collection through a survey distributed to 100 employees from various departments and job levels within the company. The collected data are then analyzed using multiple regression analysis to examine the effect of each independent variable on the dependent variable, namely employee performance. The results indicate that the work environment, work motivation, and career development simultaneously have a significant impact on employee performance, as shown by a p-value < 0.05; the variables also demonstrate positive and significant partial effects. Specifically, work motivation has the greatest influence on employee performance, followed by career development and the work environment. These findings reinforce the theory that motivational factors and adequate opportunities for career development are crucial in enhancing employee productivity and loyalty. Furthermore, a conducive and supportive work environment plays an essential role in creating a healthy and motivating workplace atmosphere. The implications of this research provide practical insights for the management of PT. Angkasa Pura Aviasi, suggesting that they should increase their focus and investment in these factors through innovative and sustainable policies and programs. With these strategies, the company is expected to improve employee performance more effectively, ultimately supporting the achievement of the company's vision and mission, enhancing competitiveness, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

Abstract

In the modern business era, companies are faced with the need for knowledge workers who ultimately produce innovations to support work and increase company sustainability. The company's strategy for human resource management is important. The implementation of Knowledge Management (KM) is one of the human capital readiness and organizational readiness strategies in the performance targets of PT PLN (Persero) North Sumatra Development Parent Unit (PLN UIP SBU) to improve the ability of selected talents to match the competencies needed by PLN, so that they can make a maximum contribution in their position. KM implementation has been running for almost 15 years, but employee interest in KM implementation is still low because many employees do not understand KM and have not benefited from it. KM has not been running in accordance with the provisions of PT PLN (Persero). This research uses descriptive qualitative methods with data collection methods through observation, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. The results of this study indicate that leaders are the main key driving the successful implementation of knowledge management at PT PLN (Persero) North Sumatra Development Parent Unit. Innovation reflects the success of KM implementation. Updating the knowledge management system technology infrastructure, evaluating and assessing the maturity level of KM implementation is very important to improve KM implementation. This research provides alternative strategies for better KM implementation, namely collaboration between functions to carry out KM refreshment, encourage innovation work competitions, utilization of pre-retirement employees, workshops and external certification, and reporting KM implementation to the PLN Central Team to get evaluation and feedback.

Abstract

Armed conflict not only threatens human lives, but also damages infrastructure and cultural heritage as the collective identity of a nation. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has caused damage to hundreds of cultural sites of historical, religious, and social value. As the UN agency responsible for protecting cultural heritage, UNESCO is taking action to prevent further damage, document affected sites, and rally international support for restoration efforts. This study aims to analyse how UNESCO responded to the destruction of cultural sites in Ukraine between 2022 and 2025. The theoretical framework used is cultural heritage to understand the importance of protecting cultural heritage, as well as the theory of international organisation implementation (Joachim et al., 2007) to explain the concrete efforts made in the context of armed conflict. The method used is descriptive qualitative with literature review. The research results show that UNESCO uses two approaches, namely normative (authority and legitimacy) and management (monitoring, capacity building, and problem solving). Normatively, UNESCO establishes the status of World Heritage in Danger, Enhanced Protection, and Blue Shield marking to strengthen awareness and the international legal basis. From a management perspective, UNESCO conducts monitoring in collaboration with UNITAR UNOSAT and the Executive Board, implements capacity building with ICCROM, the Getty Conservation Institute, HEART, and the Smithsonian SCRI, and carries out problem-solving through ICCROM FAR workshops, the Maidan Museum, HERI, UNESCO/ICOMOS expert missions, and international conferences. These efforts have resulted in risk assessments, digital documentation, and medium- and long-term recovery action plans. Both approaches underscore that UNESCO is not only establishing symbolic norms but also implementing concrete technical actions to ensure the sustainability of cultural heritage amid conflict.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of interactive learning media based on Flash CS6 in improving students’ Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) on the clutch system material for grade XI TKR students at SMK Perintis 29 Ungaran. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Instruments used include HOTS test items, student response questionnaires, and expert validation sheets. The validation results indicated that the media was highly feasible, scoring 94.5% from media experts and 98% from subject matter experts. Learning outcomes showed that the experimental class experienced a significantly higher improvement than the control class. The N-Gain score for the experimental group was 76.8% (effective category), while the control group was only 49.2% (less effective category). The t-test revealed a significant difference between the posttest scores of both groups (p < 0.05). Furthermore, student responses to the media were very positive, with an average score of 88.2%. These results suggest that Flash CS6-based interactive learning media is effective in enhancing students’ HOTS, particularly in vocational education related to light vehicle engineering subjects.
