Abstract

This research aimed to design a webinar platform that can help the deaf understand information while attending online seminars using sign language interpreter features. That way, the deaf will have no difficulty understanding the material being delivered by the speaker. This research method used descriptive methods to describe the problems faced by deaf webinar participants, where the difficulty met when attending online seminars using webinar media. In general, webinar applications lack sign language interpreting features, confusing webinar participants with hearing loss in understanding what the speaker is talking about. This webinar platform can display sign language translators according to the sentences spoken by the speaker. These study results are expected to help create a webinar platform with features that make it easier for participants with hearing disabilities to understand the material quickly.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was assess of mathematical abilities of students with intellectual disabilities during the CoVID-19 Pandemic. The subjects of this study were 5 children with intellectual disabilities in a special school, in West Java, Indonesia. The method used descriptive quantitative method. The stages of the activity process carried out were by formulating instruments, determining subjects, conducting assessments, and analyzing data. Differences in assessment during the pandemic involved teachers and parents. The results showed that most students with intellectual disabilities have problems in the aspect of mathematical abilities. This is because students with intellectual disabilities had problems understanding abstract and complex concepts. They had problems in various aspects of perception. In the learning process, students with intellectual disabilities needed concrete media. Concrete media made it easier for students to understand learning material, especially students with intellectual barriers who are at the concrete learning stage. The results of the assessment used as the basis for making mathematics learning programs for students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of the word method for the "LEMBAGA" word on improving the articulation ability to hear impairment students in the second grade of elementary special school. This study uses the Single Subject Research (SSR) method with an A-B-A design on one elementary special school student with a hearing impairment student. The learning method begins with the introduction of a particular word. This word is then broken down into syllables, syllables into letters. Next, letters are the process of arranging letters into syllables and syllables into words. The results showed that there was an increase in the child's articulation ability before and after the intervention was given. The application of the word "Lembaga" method is used by showing children how to write a word and a picture of the word, thus children are more interested in participating in learning.

Abstract

In the practice of implementing gender equality, education is one of the receptacles for students to comprehend the implementation of gender equality starting from a very early age. However, many hindrances happened upon the implementation of gender equality on students, especially on elementary school students. The purpose of this research is as stimulation to implement the social reality which became an issue to role holders in implementing character building-related gender equality by observing Japan’s implementation of gender education which can be a reference to look at. The research covering this topic has been done by many. One of them almost publishes a similar topic which was conducted in 2012 which discussed Gender Equality on Education at PPL PGSD-partnership Elementary School. Therefore, the writers try to research this by adding new formula by comparing discoveries in Indonesian and Japanese Elementary School. This research is a combination of descriptive-contrastive methods, historical research, data collecting by interviews on elementary school students, and supported by a few journals which discuss Japanese character building. The results of the research show that Indonesia does not fully enforce gender equality in the education system. This is proven from the daily classroom cleaning schedule which is inversely proportional to Japan’s character building that enforces gender equality, starting from the act of classroom cleaning modelled after the tokkatsu model or educational model. Hopefully, the upcoming researches which study these issues can be a literature study of social symptoms which can meet the solution so this issue can be resolved.

Abstract

The availability and use of technological devices to aid students with special needs in education and training are driven by the changing nature of work. This study investigated the Availability and Utilization of Assistive Technology for Learning among Students with Special Needs in Ilorin, Kwara State. A descriptive research design of survey type was employed for this study. Multi-stage sampling techniques of simple random sampling and purposive sampling were used to select 100 respondents for the study. The questionnaire was used for the study. Descriptive and Inferential statistics were used to answer the research question and test the stated hypotheses with the aid of statistical product and service solution (SPSS) version 20.0 at a 0.05 level of significance. The findings from this study showed that assistive Technology devices are available for assimilation of students with special needs in Ilorin, Kwara and there is no significant influence in the utilization of assistive technology for students of special needs based on the gender of the students. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the assessment of the ability to wash hands for students with intellectual disabilities. We used a qualitative method with literature study activities and field studies (interviews, observations, and documentation). The results showed that the assessment of the ability to wash hands for students with intellectual disabilities was carried out in stages, namely making assessment instruments, determining subjects, preparing the necessary equipment, conducting assessments, and analyzing data from the assessment results. The activity of assessing the ability to wash hands for students with intellectual disabilities has the aim of knowing the weaknesses, strengths, and potential of students in the ability to wash hands. It is hoped that the results of this assessment can be used as a basis for making hand-washing learning programs for students with special needs, especially students with intellectual disabilities.
