Abstract

The increasing of deforestation cause community awareness to sustain the forest expecially in Sungai Bakau Besar Laut Village, through local wisdom. It can prevent the occurence of violations that contribute to deforestation. Therefore, the purpose of study was to know the characteristics of the society (age, education, occupation, gender) and the role of local wisdom in the management of mangrove forests in the Sungai Bakau Besar Laut Village. This study was conducted for 2 weeks. The method in this study was the qualitative. The determination of sample used the snowball sampling with interview technique. The data were analized with descriptive qualitative. The results showed that the management of mangrove forests by Sungai Bakau Besar Laut community did not apply an unwritten rules but apply a written rules as local wisdom. An unwritten rules in the Sungai Bakau Besar Laut community included the robo - robo rituals and habits such as a decision making to be discussed, so it could solve the problems.Keyword : Local Wisdom, Mangrove Forest, Society.

Abstract

Area of IUPHHK-HA PT. Suka Jaya Makmur has planted three types of Shorea (Shorea leprosula, Shorea parvifolia, and Shorea johoriensis) at silvicultural system TPTI and TPTJ. The present study aimed at identifying the diameter increment of Shorea leprosula, Shorea parvifolia, and Shorea johoriensis which were planted by using silvicultural system of Indonesian Selective Logging and Plantation (TPTI) and Selective Logging and Line Planting (TPTJ). Data collection was done through a technique called purposive sampling. Results of the discussion showed that the diameter increment of Shorea leprosula was bigger than two other types of Shorea i.e. Shorea parvifolia and Shorea johoriensis. The analysis also revealed that there was a difference of the diameter increment between silvicultural system of TPTI and TPTJ. The diameter of TPTJ increased faster i.e. 3.46 cm/year in comparison with TPTI which was only 1.02 cm/year. Keywords: diameter increment, silvicultural system TPTI and TPTJ, three types of Shorea.

Abstract

The role of forest as a provider of environment services gives significant contribution. due to its capability in providing water resource, carbon storage, and natural services. Tanjungpura University has several potential areas as urban forest. These are  Arboretum Untan, Jogging Track Untan, and Faculty of Forestry.It is important to value the urban forest economically so people will know the important benefit resulted by forest in term of money. The purposes of this research were to know the total economic value of urban forest related to environmental services, based on Direct Use Value (DUV), Indirect Use Value (IUV), and Option Value (OV). The research used descriptive method of sampling using accidental sampling technique and data collection stands by census. The value method used is analysis total economic valuation. Based the results research are Direct Use Value Rp 29.896.803,-, Indirect Use Value Rp 7.123.160.127 and Option Value Rp 578.708.120,-. Total Economic Valuation Rp 7.732.365.050,- / year. Abstract

This study aims to examine the toxicity of A. marina leaf extracts to subterranean termite C. curvignathus and to determine the optimal concentration of A. marina leaf extract in inhibiting termite attack. A. marina leaf powder was extracted using methanol solvent for 48 hours, then the extract solution was evaporated using rotary evaporator for 1 hour to obtain extract in gel condition. Then whatman paper immer in extract solution at each concentration of 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and 5% for 1 hour. Testing was done for 21 days. The parameters observed were termite mortality and weight loss of whatman paper. The highest mortality was found at concentrations of 5% with mortality of termite reach 100% with the weight loss of 0,857%. Concentration of 2% was noted as the optimal result with termite mortality value of 86,66% and weight loss of whatman paper reach 34,0725% wiht the level of anti-termite activity classified as B (strong). Keyword : Api-api leaf, Coptotermes curvignathus, extract, toxicity

Abstract

Bats (Chiroptera) are the only mammals that have wings and move or move by flying. Bats can be found in habitats supporting his whereabouts, among them the Sambas Botanical Gardens (KRS). This study aims to obtain data about the species of bats found in the Sambas Botanical Gardens. The method used in research is the of exploration, samples are taken using the method of trapping with a mist net placed purposive in 6 research stations that are near the building, around fruit trees, riparians, boundary of Sambas Botanical Garden with oil palm plantations, foothills and open areas. Studies show as many as 6 species of bats were found in the KRS. The Megachiroptera 4 species among them are Balionycteris maculata, Cynopterus brachyotis, Cynopterus horsfieldi and Cynopterus titthaecheilus, while the Microchiroptera group are 2 species of Saccolaimus saccolaimus and Tylonycteris pachypus.  Based on data analysis, the index value for species richness is (DMg = 1.6), diversity (H '= 1.41), evenness (E = 0.75) and dominance (C = 0.24).Keywords: Bats, Diversity, Sambas Botanical Gardens

Abstract

Forests area that designated as village forest needs to be managed and maintained it’s sustainability. Since it is established as village forest,the people of Dusun Manjau attitudes about the village forest was unknown. By knowing the attitude of societiesabout the village forests, we’ll see the societies’s motivations and initiatives to maintain and preserve thesearea. This research aims to knowthe attitudes of the people about village forest in Dusun Manjau. The results of the research is that people who have a positive attitude about village forest in Dusun Manjau are people who respect’s the rules that relating to village forest, beside that they also know with continuing to maintain and preserve the village forest,and also to maintain the life and future of generation. In the other side, respondents who have negative attitude about the village forest is those that don’t care about the village forest and its existence. This attitude caused by several factors, among others, lack of awareness about the surrounding environment, lack of information about how importantto keep the village forest. According to the information from members of LPHD (Lembaga Pengelolaan Hutan Desa / Village Forest Management Council)in Dusun Manjau. There are education and socialization provided by NGO and stakeholders to the localpeople, but not all the people take participate in these activities. Keyword : Aittude, Dusun Manjau, village forest

Abstract

Nature Tourism Park of Sungai Liku is one of the group of mangrove forests in the working area of Conservation Section Region III Singkawang which has a high potential to be developed into a tourist area of mangrove forest with a total area of 821, 30 hectares. Several cases in the management of the Nature Tourism Park are among other the presence of settlements and agricultural land in the area which are still going on, although the type and volume of wood are relatively small. The purpose of this study is to determine the changes in land cover of the Nature Taourism Park of Sungai Liku River in 2013-2016. The method used in this research was supervised classification, field ground check and analysis with the overlay technique on the data of Landsat imagery interpretation 8 OLI & TIRS coverage in 2013 and 2016.Changes in land cover of the Nature Tourism Park of Sungai Liku in Sambas Regency mostly happened in the class of rice which increased to 14,71 ha (1,95%). Followed by the open flooded which increased to 3,57 ha (0,47%), open dry increased to 0,15 ha (0,02%), and the beach area to 0,07 ha (0,01%). Land cover greatest decrease occurred in the land cover of secondary mangrove forest amounting to 14,71 ha (1,95%), and Shrubland area of 14,66 ha (1,95%), and followed by water body with an area of 1,92 ha (0,26%). Land cover class that have not changed from 2013 to 2016 is the land cover an area of CoastalForest of 2,33 ha (0,31%) in 2013 and 2016.  Keywords: Land cover, Landsat images, Nature park.

Abstract

Waterfall Regionis located in Mount Serindung hilly or mountainous area in Salatiga District which is one of the Protected Forest areas.Waterfall Region Mount Serindung has potential tourist development prospects with the potential floras and faunas are interesting and have some attraction in the form of waterfalls, natural beauty, floras and faunas of the forest and surrounding scenery are Serindung Mountain Falls. This research aims to obtain data on the potential appeal contained in theWaterfall region of Mount Serindung to develop tourism in the region. The benefit of this research is to provide better information on potential natural diversity of floras and faunas as well as the natural beauty that can be used as a tourist attraction in the Waterfall region of Mount Serindung.The research was conducted in the Waterfall region of Mount Serindung on August 26,2012 until September 30,2012,by using descriptive method that describes all potential objects of research that has been observed and analyzed by using a standard observation Raw Size Guidelines / Standards Assessment and Development of Attraction nature. Assessment parameters consist of natural beauty, unique natural resources, natural resources stand, the integrity of natural resources, natural resource sensitivity, choice of leisure activities, clean air and space visitors. Based on calculations of the entire acreage acquired attractiveness criteria 948.12 value. When compared with classification based Development Element Weighted Value Waterfall Mountain Serindung it has the potential appeal of a good area (B). This value indicates that Nature Waterfall Mountain Serindung can be used asa tourist destination. Key word : Serindung Mountain,Waterfall, Tourist Attraction

Abstract

The increase of the population and a wide range of activities can provide a great influence towards the utilization of the natural resources that come from the forest. This has resulted in reduced customs and forest area of occurrence is increasingly threatened. This will require good of indigenous forest management, so it can retain and sustainment the forest. The problem is the factors are a driving factor in maintaining indigenous forest of society and if there are relation between the individual factors that led to the existence of the indigenous forest to be good or not. This research is aim to know the driving factor in maintaining indigenous forest of society and to know the relation of each the individual factorsis: the income rate, level of public knowledge, customary law, and public perception in maintaining indigenous forest. This research used a descriptive survey and interview techniques. Result of this research the driving factor of society in maintaining indigenous forest in the village of Peninsung because forests retain and store where the water source that river in the village are not easy to dry be used by communities to used daily as well forest products is are plentiful, especially timber and non timber that can be utilized by the public. Abstract

Birds or Aves are members of vertebrates that have feathers and wings. Spreads from lowlands until highlands occupying various habitats, similarly in Kalimantan birds are found in various places. The goal of this research is to acquire biodiversity data of birds in certain types of the forest before and after operations in the region of PT Hutan Ketapang Industri. This research use the IPA (Index Point Abundance) method which is placed purposively on five types of habitat. The habitats are kerangas forest, peat swamp forest, dipterocarpus lowland forest, riparian and open wetland/flood plain. The research was conducted in the area before and after operational activity. The research shows the differences in results at each location. There are found 40 species of birds that belong to 23 families.   Keyword: Bird Diurnal, Diversity, Five Habitat Types
