Abstract

AbstractThe aims of this study is to probe student’s misconceptions about Newton’s laws used Individual Demonstration Interview (IDI) in mother tongue at SMP Negeri 1 Ketapang. This research formed as descriptive survey research that involving 15 studens as sample.  Purposive sampling was used in this study, samples were selected based on their learning acquisition that divided to be high, middle and low category. The Individual Demonstraton Interview’s interview guidelines used Malay Dialect Ketapang to describe student’s misconceptions. The analysis showed that students thought static obejct doesn’t have force, if there’s no force so the force resultan is nothing too, unmove object because of gravity and friction force, external force don’t effect to force resultan, car’s accelaration were more small becauce force‘s more small too, direction of friction force and tire’s car always opposite with car’s motion, displacement as reaction force while walking. Futhermore total student’s misconceptions on learning acquisition category high, middle and low is almost same. Abstract

  AbstractThis study aims to improve the skill of writing essay description of students by using the model sentence concept media drawing. The method used is descriptive method with class action research form. Data collection techniques used are data collection techniques and direct observation techniques. Data collection tools used in the form of observation sheets and documents learning results. This study was conducted for 3 cycles with two meetings in each cycle. Results 1) teachers' ability to plan lessons from cycles 1, 2 and 3 earned an average grade of 3.42, 3.63, 3.77. 2). The ability of teachers to apply learning from cycles 1, 2 and 3 earned an average grade of 3.38, 3.64, 3.90. The students' ability to write descriptions of cycles 1, 2 and 3 was averaged 55.00, 73,32, 81,33. There is an increase from cycle 1 to cycle 2 of 18.32 and on cycle 3 has an increase of 8.01. It can be concluded that there is an increase in the skill of writing description descriptions using conceptual concept assisted concept models for grade III students of SDN 12 Pontianak South. Keywords: Concept Sentence Model, Media Drawing, Writing Description

Abstract

AbstractCritical thinking is reasonable and reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe or do. Student who think critically can draw reasonable conclusions based on the information obtained in a problem solving. This research aimed to describe students? critical thinking ability on the inference aspect in problem solving of Pythagorean theorem subject matter at Grade VIII SMPN 21 Pontianak. The research method used was descriptive and the form of this research was survey research. Subject of this research was students of VIII F Class which consist 33 students. The techniques of data collection were critical thinking test and interview. The results in this research shows that students? critical thinking ability on the inference aspect fall into the low category. Most of the students can?t afford to achieve the three indicators of inference aspect, such as querying evidence with score percentage 29%, conjecturing alternatives with score percentage 20%, and drawing conclusion with score percentage 17%.  Keywords: Critical Thinking, Inference Aspect, Problem Solving, Pythagorean Theorem

Abstract

 AbstractThis research is motivated by the writer's desire to found conflicts in a novel titled Terusir by Hamka. The problem of this research is “How is the internal and external conflict of the main character in Terusir novel goes?” This research uses descriptive methods, qualitative, and shaped using the approach of psychology literature. Data sources the study is novel Terusir by Hamka. The technique of data collection in this research study is the technique of the documentary. The data in this research in the form of quotations of the words, phrases, sentences containing internal and external conflict of the main character. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that: first, the internal conflict of the main character in the novel Terusir by Hamka is the existence of a form of conflict include: feelings of hurt, disappointed, agitated, angry, chaotic, confused, sad, offended, forced, edgy, desperate, shock, fear, regret, resentment, and irritated. Second, the external conflict of the main character in the novel Terusir by Hamka is the existence of a form of conflict in the form of bickering, quarrels, disagreements, debates, and physical fights between main character with other characters. Keywords: conflicts, figure main.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is conducted to find out the type of grammatical interference and to describe the frequency of negative transfer made by Indonesian-speaking students in transferring Indonesian text into English text. The corpus was collected from Semester-2 students of English Study Program in Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Tanjungpura University in Academic Year 2016/2017. This was a descriptive study. The result shows that 265 grammatical errors were encountered from the corpus. They are categorized into 8 types of interlingual negative transfer, covering verb-tense forms, subject-verb agreements, word orders, prepositions, articles, pluralities, pronouns and auxiliaries. The percentage was found highest in verb-tense form by 38,5% or equals to 102 errors. Students’ grammatical errors in transferring Indonesian text into English text are highly influenced by their first or second language. Keywords: Analysis, Negative Transfer, Interlingual, Grammatical Error Abstrak: Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui jenis gramatikal interferensi dan menggambarkan frekuensi transfer negatif oleh mahasiswa yang berbahasa Indonesia dalam mentransfer teks Indonesia ke dalam teks bahasa Inggris. Kumpulan tulisan diambil dari 12 siswa semester 2 dari Program Studi Bahasa Inggris di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan di Universitas Tanjungpura pada Tahun Akademik 2016/2017. Ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif. Hasil menunjukkan sebanyak 265 kesalahan tata bahasa ditemukan di dalam kumpulan tulisan tersebut. Kesalahan-kesalahan tata bahasa  itu dikategorikan menjadi 8 jenis transfer negatif interlingual, meliputi verb-tense forms, subject-verb agreements, word orders, prepositions, articles, pluralities, pronouns dan auxiliaries. Persentase kesalahan tertinggi adalah bentuk verb-tense dengan persentase error 38,5% atau setara dengan 102 kesalahan. Kesalahan tata bahasa siswa dalam mentransfer teks berbahasa Indonesia ke dalam Bahasa Inggris besar dipengaruhi oleh bahasa pertama atau kedua mereka. Kata kunci: Analisis, Transfer Negatif, Interlingual, Kesalahan Gramatikal

Abstract

 AbstractThe objective of this research was to know the Acculturation of Culture between Transmigrant Communities with Local Communities in Desa Tunggal Bhakti Kecamatan Kembayan  Kabupaten Sanggau. This research uses descriptive qualitative approach method. The techniques of data collection observation, interviews, and documentation. The research instruments were the directive of observation, directive of interview, and the documentation tools. The research showed the Acculturation in the form of social organization has been mixed, because social organization carries the name of an ethnic but its membership has mixed up. Caused by several factors namely marriage, inheritance of membership and religion.Acculturation in the form of livelihood in the form of livelihood change, job change and cooperation among tribes. Changes in the system of the shift of the Dayak agricultural system from cultivation of dry field to wet field, changes in the work of the Javanese became better and can be rubber gardening, and inter-tribal cooperation on the activities pengarih or sambetan. Acculturation Language in the form of Javanese language blend Dayak people can speak Java and vice vers. Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to find out the students? experiences in using Facebook (FB) as a tool for learning English. The subjects of this research were students? of the sixth semester of English education study program at Tanjungpura University who are active users of Facebook. The data of this case study were derived from the questionnaire, interviews and online observation of the students? activities on Facebook. The data showed that all of the students used Facebook as a tool for learning English through some features. The students learned English via Facebook by writing their English status, commenting or replying their friends? status in English, giving a caption on the picture, and re-writing lyric of English word. In addition, the students? by shared pages/links related to English materials, photos having English words on it, and English videos. The students also learned English by communicating in English through Facebook chatting and group features.  Key words: Facebook, Learning English

Abstract

AbstractBMDN (Malay dialect Ngabang language) has grown and developed at Ngabang regency Landak. The limitation of the problem divided in to three sub problem, there are form, function, meaning. BMDN affixation is described by descriptive method from survey method, observation, and interview, qualitative type. The data source is native speaker BMDN. The technique used in accumulation the data is observation, conversation, writing, and recording technique. The instrument of this research is tape recorder, images, legends, identification cards, and stationary as well as researchers as the main instrument. Technique of analysis the data is transcribe the data and then translate in to Indonesia after that classified by the problem of the research. Based on the analysis the data, result of the research showed Affix in BMDN has form, function, meaning. There are prefix, suffix, confix. There are 8 The prefix form. there are 5 the suffix form. There are 6 confix form. Functions of affix in BMDN are intransitive verb, passive verb, nouns, adverbs, numeral, active verb, transitive verb. The meaning of the afffix is a active deeds, use or wear, do the deeds, get or produce, has or have, suddenly, one, a passive deeds, collections, tools, job to do deeds, use, do order, proportion, possession, do something, management or position, place and show time, protect, prepare, transfer. Keywords: Affixation, form affix, function affix, meaning affix, BMDN

Abstract

Abstract One of the Malay language that still used until right now is Malay language in Sambas dialects (BMDS) at Sambas Regency, West Borneo. This research examines the linguistic of BMDS that focused on the terms of the meaning that semantic field of verb ?to touch?. The method in this research is descriptive method with qualitative form research. Data and sources of data in this research are words, phrases, and sentences that spoken by containing terrain verb meaning to touch in BMDS. The technique that used is direct technique such as face to face conversation (interview) with noted technique.  The instruments that used to collect the data in this research are recorder, list of questions, list of illustrations, data cards, and stationery. Based on research there are 47 lexeme verbs to touch in BMDS consist 10 lexeme verb touch with tool usage, 28 lexeme verb to touch without tool usage, and 9 lexeme verbs to touch with or without tool usage. The kind of meaning of verb to touch in BMDS was founded consisting of 47 denotative meanings, 47 grammatical meanings, and 16 connotative meanings. Semantic functions of verbs to touch in BMDS was founded are 47 semantic functions.  Keywords: Semantics, Meaning Field, to Touch

Abstract

Abstract The problem in this research is how the influence of left-right game strategy is wrong against the dribble skill of basketball. The purpose of this study to find out how the influence of the game run right-left is wrong to the dribble skill of basketball game on the students of class XI in SMA Taruna Bumi Khatulistiwa Kubu Raya. This research method used experiment (one group pretest-posttes design) with quantitative descriptive. The population in this study as many as 4 classes with the number of 109 students. Sampling using sampling systematic multiples of number 5, then the number of samples is 21 students. The result of data analysis using computerized tcount of 4,035 By looking at statistics table at degrees of freedom db = (N-1) is 21-1 = 20 and 5% significance level, ttable value equal to 1.72. Based on the results of the study concluded that the game run right-left right wrong can improve learning outcomes dribble. The result of the research shows that the percentage increase is 20,67%. Furthermore the average value of the initial test is lower than the final test that is (72.86 <87.94).
