Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the SKUA (Standard Competency of Ubudiyah and Akhlakul Karimah) Program in strengthening students’ ubudiyah values in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at MTs Ma’arif Cipta Insan Mulya. The research employed a qualitative case study approach conducted at the madrasah during the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving 1 madrasah principal, 3 PAI teachers, 2 SKUA instructors, and 12 students purposively selected based on their involvement in the program. Data analysis used the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, while validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the SKUA Program is implemented systematically through planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous development stages. The program integrates worship habituation activities such as congregational Dhuha and Dhuhur prayers, Qur’an recitation, memorization of daily prayers, ablution and prayer practices, and the cultivation of Islamic manners. The program has significantly improved students’ worship discipline, spiritual awareness, and consistency in practicing ubudiyah both at school and at home. However, several obstacles were identified, including limited guidance time, differences in students’ Qur’an reading abilities, and limited parental supervision. The novelty of this study lies in presenting SKUA as a competency-based worship education model integrated with structured evaluation of students’ worship practices. This study implies that competency-based religious habituation programs can strengthen the effectiveness of Islamic Religious Education in developing students’ religious character and devotional values.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of environmentally friendly science teaching aids in the form of a windmill integrated into experimental learning on third-grade students’ conceptual understanding of energy in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. A quantitative quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design was employed. The sample consisted of 46 students selected through purposive sampling, including 24 in the experimental group and 22 in the control group. The experimental group received experimental learning supported by windmill-based teaching aids made from recycled materials, while the control group received experimental learning without teaching aids. Data were collected using a validated multiple-choice test measuring conceptual understanding across cognitive levels C1–C4. The instrument demonstrated acceptable reliability (Cronbach’s α ≥ 0.70). Data analysis included descriptive statistics, Shapiro–Wilk normality test, Levene’s homogeneity test, independent samples t-test, and N-Gain analysis. The results showed no significant difference in pretest scores, indicating equivalent baseline understanding. However, posttest results revealed a significant difference favoring the experimental group. The normalized gain was higher in the experimental group (59.21%, moderate–high) compared to the control group (11.22%, low). The effect size was very large (Cohen’s d = 3.47), indicating a strong practical impact. These findings demonstrate that integrating environmentally friendly windmill-based teaching aids into experimental learning significantly improves students’ conceptual understanding of energy.

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile is an important part of the Independent Curriculum, shaping students' character through contextual, sustainable project activities. The implementation of this project should be studied specifically in Islamic Religious Education to examine the relationship between religious values and Pancasila values. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project in Islamic Religious Education and to identify the outcomes and factors that influence it. The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Data sources in this study are the Principal, Teachers and Grade IV Students, Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation, while data analysis used the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana models and tested for validity through triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project has been carried out through the stages of mapping, determining themes, compiling modules, and designing assessments. The results of the implementation show the development of three main dimensions: religious abilities through memorization of hadiths, attitudes of mutual cooperation, and independence. Supporting factors include the principal's policies, the presence of a leading teacher, and adequate facilities, while inhibiting factors stem from parents' perceptions of feeling burdened by the project activities. It can be concluded that the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project in Islamic Religious Education can shape students' character, although there are still challenges in parental support for P5 tasks.

Abstract

Early reading and writing skills constitute the fundamental academic foundation that directly determines students' success across all disciplines throughout their educational journey. Nevertheless, Indonesia's literacy achievement remains critically concerning, as evidenced by its ranking of 68th out of 81 countries in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022. This condition underscores the urgent need for innovative, contextually grounded, and evidence-based instructional media. This study aims to systematically examine: (1) the effectiveness of LEA-based flashcard media in supporting early reading and writing skills; (2) methodological trends in relevant empirical studies; and (3) challenges in implementing LEA-based flashcard media in elementary school contexts. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) employing the PRISMA protocol was conducted across Google Scholar, ERIC, Scopus, Garuda, and SINTA databases, covering publications from 2022 to 2025. Of 309 initially identified articles, 25 fulfilled all inclusion criteria and were subsequently analyzed thematically and descriptively through a quality appraisal process with inter-rater reliability of κ = 0.82. Findings consistently demonstrate that flashcard media integrated with Language Experience Approach principles contributes substantially to early reading and writing competencies, though its effectiveness is mediated by teacher pedagogical competence, learning environment quality, and contextual factors such as urban-rural disparities. Three principal themes emerged: the effectiveness of experience-based media on early literacy outcomes and its affective dimensions; the pivotal yet variable role of teachers' competence and systemic support in optimizing media implementation; and the critical importance of accurate, data-driven early assessment within diverse contextual constraints. This review concludes that LEA-based flashcard media development must be embedded within a comprehensive learning ecosystem that encompasses teacher capacity-building, active parental engagement, print-rich classroom environments, and educational policies genuinely responsive to the diverse social and cultural contexts of Indonesian students.

Abstract

Environmental education in primary schools is often implemented through technical activities without being systematically integrated into students’ moral and theological development. In Islamic primary education, Akidah Akhlak instruction also tends to focus on doctrinal understanding rather than contextual ecological behavior, resulting in a gap between religious values and students’ environmental responsibility. This study aims to examine the integration of values into ecological education through the ALAMKU (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) program at MI Ma’arif Pagerwojo. This research employed a qualitative case study approach conducted over three months. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observations, and document analysis involving the headmaster, teachers, and 24 students. Data were analyzed using an interactive qualitative analysis model through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the integration operated through curriculum-based theological alignment, structured 3R ecological practices, and cultural reinforcement through school habituation. The theological principles of tawhid, amanah, and khalifah functioned as moral drivers of students’ ecological behavior. The program also contributed to an approximately 80% reduction in weekly plastic waste and improved students’ environmental responsibility and discipline. In conclusion, the integration of Akidah Akhlak values through the ALAMKU 3R program demonstrates that faith-based ecological education can effectively strengthen students’ ecological character and generate measurable sustainability outcomes in Islamic primary education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of physical activity based on local wisdom, specifically through the traditional sack race, on lower-limb muscle strength in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) classes for fifth-grade elementary school students. The intervention was designed in a structured manner, following the principle of progressive overload, and implemented over six sessions. A quantitative approach using a True Experimental Design via a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design was applied in this study. The entire population of 28 fifth-grade students at SDN Cicariu was included as participants using total sampling, who were then randomly assigned to an experimental group (n = 14) and a control group (n = 14). The experimental group received a learning program based on the traditional sack race game, while the control group followed conventional Physical Education (PJOK) instruction. Data on lower-body muscle strength were collected via the vertical jump test, which was subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistics and the non-parametric Mann–Whitney U test at a significance level of 0.05. The research results showed an upward trend in the average scores for both groups; however, the experimental group recorded a significantly higher percentage increase of 16.66% compared to the control group, which increased by only 5.36%. Through the Mann–Whitney U test, an Asymp. Sig. A value of 0.089 (p > 0.05) was obtained. This study concludes that physical activity through sack races is descriptively effective in stimulating lower limb muscle strength in elementary school-aged children. Implicitly, traditional games packaged systematically can be adopted by physical education teachers as a recreational yet educational alternative for physical activity to optimize students’ physical capacity without relying on expensive facilities.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze accountability in the management of School Operational Assistance Fund (BOSP) through the School Activity and Budget Plan Application (ARKAS) at St. Antonius 02 Elementary School in Semarang City. Using a qualitative single-case study design, purposive sampling was applied to select nine informants, including the principal, treasurer, asset officer, teachers, and school committee members. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation to explore accountability practices in school financial management. The analysis focused on five accountability indicators: leadership responsibility, planning, control, accountability, and evaluation. The findings indicate that leadership responsibility was reflected in compliance with BOSP regulations and direct verification by the principal. Planning was conducted collaboratively through stakeholder deliberation based on actual school needs. Control was implemented through continuous supervision, transaction verification, and immediate clarification of inconsistencies. Accountability was demonstrated through systematic reporting, complete supporting documentation, and internal revision procedures before submission to the education office. Evaluation was carried out periodically through reflective review and corrective follow-up to improve subsequent budget implementation. These findings imply that accountability in BOSP management is strengthened when ARKAS is supported by disciplined internal control, active stakeholder participation, and systematic administrative practices. Overall, ARKAS contributed to more transparent, traceable, and accountable school financial governance, while providing practical implications for improving budget planning, supervision, reporting, and continuous evaluation in elementary school financial management.

Abstract

Fractions in elementary school mathematics are still considered difficult by students because the concepts are abstract and require deeper thinking skills. This condition causes students to experience difficulties in understanding the concepts of numerators, denominators, and solving fraction problems. Therefore, a learning approach is needed that can help students understand their own thinking processes so that learning becomes more meaningful and easier to understand. This study aims to analyze metacognitive strategies in learning fractions in mathematics for fourth-grade students at JQ Elementary School. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, tests, and questionnaires of fourth-grade students at JQ Elementary School. The results showed that the metacognitive approach was able to improve students' understanding of fractions through reflection activities, discussions, and the use of concrete media in the form of pizza boards. Students became more active, critical, and able to solve mathematical problems in a more focused manner, making learning more effective and meaningful.

Abstract

Emotional development is a crucial aspect of children’s growth during the elementary school phase. Children’s emotional development is influenced by various factors, one of which is the emotional bonding with the father. This study aimed to analyze the effect of father and child bonding on children’s emotional development through emotion regulation as a mediating variable. This study employed a quantitative correlational design involving 46 student cases as the primary unit of analysis, with 46 fathers and 3 teachers serving as triangulation sources. Questionnaires were used to gather data, which IBM SPSS 27 was used to analyze using multiple linear regression, path analysis, and the Sobel test. The results showed that father and child bonding significantly affected emotion regulation, and emotion regulation significantly affected emotional development. Emotion regulation significantly affected emotional development (β = 0.680, t = 4.410, p < 0.001), while father and child bonding did not directly affect emotional development (β = -0.341, p = 0.064) but showed a significant indirect effect through emotion regulation (z = 3.936), indicating full mediation. These findings highlight emotion regulation as a key mechanism linking father and child bonding to children’s emotional development. Therefore, parents, schools, and school counselors should strengthen children’s emotion regulation skills through collaborative parenting, emotional support programs, and school-based counseling interventions.

Abstract

The loss of students' social consciousness and religiosity resulting from globalization and the inadequate teaching of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), which still emphasizes cognitive aspects, is the driving force behind this study. Thus, the purpose of this study is to characterize how Islamic boarding school-based pupils in grade 1A of MI At-Taqwa Bondowoso internalize Islamic values through PAI learning, thereby shaping their social awareness and religiosity. This study combined a case study methodology with a qualitative approach. Observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation using tools such as observation sheets, interview guides, and learning documents were used to collect data. Data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing were used in data analysis, and triangulation was used to assess the validity of the results. The findings show that learning, habituation, and teacher role models all contribute to the methodical and integrative process of internalizing Islamic beliefs. Students' religious and social consciousness can be raised through practices such as positive social interactions, contextual approaches, habitual worship, and behavioral reinforcement. Despite challenges such as variations in student characteristics and time constraints, the Islamic boarding school's religious atmosphere and teachers' role as role models are important supportive aspects. This study offers implications for the significance of including content, routines, and role models in the learning process. It advances the development of holistic, character-based Islamic Religious Education (PAI) instruction. In summary, pupils' general character is effectively shaped by internalizing Islamic ideals. To maximize the process of internalizing values, it is advised that educators create creative strategies, schools fortify their religious culture, and improve cooperation with parents.
