Abstract

Initial reading skills are basic skills that are important for elementary school students to master. However, some low-grade students still have difficulty recognizing letters, reading syllables, matching words to pictures, and reading simple sentences. These problems are influenced by the underuse of engaging and interactive learning media in the learning process. This study aims to determine the influence of Patuli media (Literacy Adventure Board) on the initial reading ability of elementary school students. This study uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods and a nonequivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 36 grade II students from SD Negeri 105447 Nagori, who were divided into experimental and control classes. Data collection techniques include pretest and posttest tests, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain tests, and independent t-tests.  The results showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class, namely 34.17 and 23.83. The results of the hypothesis test showed a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, so H0 was rejected, and Ha was accepted. Thus, Patuli media has proven to be effective in improving initial reading skills."That

Abstract

Narrative writing skills are one of the language skills that are very important for students to master in elementary school. However, there are still many students who have difficulty developing ideas, arranging storylines in a logical order, and applying the right structure and language rules in their narrative writing. This problem is largely due to the lack of use of learning media that can provide visual stimulation and help students understand the sequence of events more realistically. This study aims to identify the impact of the use of serial picture media on the narrative writing skills of grade V students of SDN 050635 Tanjung Nguda. This study uses a quantitative approach with quasi-experimental methods and nonequivalent control group design. The research sample amounted to 42 students consisting of 21 experimental class students and 21 control class students. Data collection techniques were carried out through narrative writing tests, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistics, N-Gain analysis, normality test, homogeneity test, Independent Sample T-Test and Cohen's d analysis. The results showed that the average posttest score in the experimental group was 81.67, which was higher than the control group that obtained an average of 62.62. The results of the hypothesis test indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 so that H₀ was rejected andHₐ was accepted. In addition, the results of Cohen's d analysis of 1.36 showed a large effect size, so the use of serial picture media had a strong influence on students' narrative writing skills. Thus, serial picture media has been proven to have a significant effect on the narrative essay writing skills of elementary school students.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low initial reading skills of grade I students of MIS Al-Khairi, especially in recognizing letters, reading simple syllables, words, and sentences. This study aims to determine the influence of the Structural Synthetic Analytic (SAS) method on the reading ability of grade I students.  The research sample comprised 30 students, divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data were collected through oral tests consisting of a pretest and a posttest. Data analysis was carried out using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and independent sample t-tests. The results showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups (t = -5.619; p < 0.001). More importantly, the SAS method has a substantial influence on students' initial reading ability, with a Cohen's d of 2.05, which falls in the very large effect category. The average posttest score of the experimental group (M = 49.13) was higher than that of the control group (M = 40.33). The SAS method helps students gradually understand the relationships among letters, syllables, words, and sentences, making reading instruction more effective. Thus, the SAS method can be used as an alternative learning strategy to improve the reading skills of elementary school students.”

Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the JUMPAJA (Javanese Market Friday) Program, a local wisdom-based school culture innovation developed by SDN Tambakromo 2, Ngawi Regency, which utilizes the Javanese market calendar cycle as a framework for integrating cultural values into weekly habituation activities aimed at strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile through systematic planning, implementation, and evaluation processes in elementary education. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation involving the principal, teachers, and students, then analysed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the program was collaboratively planned and systematically implemented through five habituation activities, namely Jumat Kliwon (Cultural Friday), Jumat Legi (Play Friday), Jumat Pahing (Sharing Friday), Jumat Pon (Clean Friday), and Jumat Wage (Worship Friday). The findings indicate that the JUMPAJA Program successfully strengthened several dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile, particularly faith and devotion to God Almighty and noble character (beriman dan bertakwa kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa serta berakhlak mulia) through religious habituation activities, mutual cooperation (gotong royong) through collaborative participation in cultural and social activities, creativity (kreatif) through students’ involvement in traditional cultural performances and entrepreneurial practices, and global diversity (berkebinekaan global) through the appreciation, preservation, and understanding of Javanese cultural values as part of national identity. Continuous evaluation and reflective coordination meetings also supported the program's sustainability and ongoing improvement. This study concludes that local wisdom-based school culture can function as an effective pedagogical strategy for strengthening the dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile and contributing to contextual character education practices in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of BioDigital Human-based Augmented Reality (AR) learning media on science (IPAS) learning outcomes regarding the hearing sense among fifth-grade students at MI GUPPI Ngancar. The study employed a quantitative quasi-experimental approach using a nonequivalent control group design involving 52 students, consisting of an experimental group (n = 26) and a control group (n = 26). Data were collected through a validated and reliable multiple-choice achievement test and analyzed using N-Gain and Mann–Whitney U tests. The results indicated that students who learned using BioDigital Human-based AR achieved a higher mean posttest score (M = 73.08, SD = 11.75) than those who received conventional instruction (M = 59.04, SD = 14.86). The experimental group also demonstrated a greater increase in learning outcomes (+21.15 points) compared with the control group (+8.85 points), with a moderate N-Gain score (g = 0.44) versus a low N-Gain score in the control group (g = 0.18). Furthermore, the Mann–Whitney U test revealed a statistically significant difference between the two groups (U = 172.000, Z = −3.062, p = 0.002), with a moderate effect size (r = 0.42), classified as medium, confirming that the observed effect is not merely statiscally significant but also indicating a meaningful educational impact with genuine practical relevance for classroom practice. These findings suggest that BioDigital Human-based AR learning media effectively enhances students’ understanding of the hearing sense topic by facilitating interactive visualization of abstract anatomical concepts. Therefore, AR can be considered a promising instructional innovation for improving learning outcomes in primary science education, particularly for topics that are difficult to observe directly.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of the Rasch Model in evaluating reasoning assessment instruments for elementary school students through a systematic literature review. Reasoning ability is a fundamental component of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and plays an important role in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach guided by the PRISMA 2020 framework. Literature was collected from Google Scholar, Scopus, ERIC, and Garuda databases. The review included peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2020 and 2025 that focused on the application of the Rasch Model in educational assessment, reasoning assessment, HOTS, and instrument validation. Following the identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion stages, 15 articles met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using thematic content analysis. The findings indicate that the Rasch Model provides more objective, valid, reliable, and stable measurements than Classical Test Theory (CTT). The model effectively evaluates item validity, reliability, item difficulty levels, person-item maps, and item fit statistics, thereby improving the accuracy of reasoning assessment. The study concludes that the Rasch Model is highly relevant for developing HOTS-based reasoning instruments in elementary education and contributes significantly to improving the quality of educational assessment and supporting 21st-century learning evaluation.
