Abstract

Introduction/Main Objective: Poverty remains a significant challenge for local governments in achieving economic development goals in Jambi Province. To address this issue, local governments have undertaken efforts to improve the quality of education and healthcare. Additionally, development initiatives are expected to enhance income distribution within society. This study aims to examine and analyze the effects of education and healthcare on poverty reduction in Jambi Province. Unlike previous studies, this research incorporates the Gini ratio as a predictor variable for poverty rate. Research Methodology: The data utilized in this study are secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Jambi Province. The data comprise panel data from 11 regencies and cities for the period 2011–2023. The analytical model employed is panel regression using the fixed-effects approach. Findings/Results: The study reveals that education and healthcare have a significant and negative impact on poverty rate. Improved education and healthcare quality are associated with lower poverty rate. Conversely, income inequality, has a significant positive effect on poverty, where an increase in the Gini ratio leads to higher poverty rate. Conclusion/Recommendations: Poverty rate in Jambi Province are significantly influenced by the quality of education and healthcare, as well as income inequality. Therefore, local governments in Jambi Province should implement integrated and actionable policies by simultaneously intervening in the areas of education, healthcare, and income distribution.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objective: Labor force participation is crucial for improving household economic conditions. Theoretically, labor force participation in the job market can be influenced by several factors, including poverty levels. Documentation from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Jambi Province indicates that labor force participation rates vary across districts and cities in the province. This study aims to estimate the impact of poverty levels on labor force participation rates in Jambi Province. In this analysis, labor force participation is categorized into male and female labor force participation rates. Research Methodology: This study employs panel data from districts and cities during the 2018–2023 period. All data are sourced from published reports by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) of Jambi Province. To estimate the relationship between variables, the study utilizes panel regression analysis with a fixed-effects approach. Findings/Results: The study demonstrates that poverty levels have a positive and significant impact on male and female labor force participation rates. The higher the poverty level, the higher the male and female labor force participation in the job market. Conversely, lower poverty levels are associated with lower labor force participation rates. Conclusion/Recommendations: Labor force participation in the job market is significantly determined by poverty levels. In other words, the challenges faced by households in meeting their basic needs drive increased participation in the job market. Therefore, it is recommended that district and city governments in Jambi Province enhance labor force participation by providing training and skills development programs, particularly for impoverished groups.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: In the continuously evolving digital era, access to the internet provides both numerous benefits and challenges for society. One of the significant challenges is the widespread practice of online gambling, which has become increasingly accessible to various groups, including adults. This study aims to analyze the self-control strategies applied by adults in Cirebon Regency to overcome online gambling addiction. Research Methods: The research method used is qualitative, with in-depth interviews conducted with seven respondents. Finding/Results: The results show that self-control is exercised through three main aspects: behavioral control, cognitive control, and decision-making. Behavioral control involves actions to avoid environments that trigger the desire to gamble and replace them with positive activities, such as working, praying, or maintaining healthy family relationships. Cognitive control is carried out by gathering information about the negative impacts of online gambling through personal experiences and electronic media, helping respondents understand the risks and harms of gambling. Decision-making based on moral and spiritual values becomes a key factor in considering the actions taken, such as drawing closer to God to strengthen mental resilience and choosing more beneficial activities. Conclusion: This study highlights that overcoming online gambling addiction requires a holistic self-regulation strategy that integrates behavioral modification, cognitive awareness, and value-based decision-making.

Research on PMM’s effectiveness in primary education remains limited, making this study a new contribution to understanding teacher use. Research Methods: A qualitative case study was conducted at SD Negeri 057/1 KM V Muara Tembesi. Data were collected through interviews with the principal and teachers, observations of PMM usage, and analysis of relevant documents. Finding/Results: PMM assists teachers in preparing materials, conducting assessments, and accessing digital resources. However, limited internet and training remain key barriers. Conclusion: PMM has the potential to enhance learning, but its success depends on infrastructure support and ongoing teacher training. Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to analyze the impact of economic growth, unemployment, and education on crime rates in Jambi Province during the 2013–2022 period. Background Problems: Crime is not merely the result of individual behavior, but often reflects structural inequalities and unequal access to economic and educational opportunities. Despite the increasing importance of crime prevention in regional planning, empirical research at the provincial level in Indonesia—especially Jambi—is still limited. Novelty: This study contributes by using updated time-series data and focusing specifically on Jambi Province, which remains underrepresented in existing empirical literature on crime determinants in Indonesia. Research Methods: A quantitative approach was applied using multiple linear regression analysis. The study used secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Jambi Province, covering the period 2013–2022. Finding/Results: All three variables—economic growth, unemployment, and education—have a significant negative effect on crime rates. Among them, unemployment and education were found to be the most dominant factors influencing crime reduction. Conclusion: Efforts to reduce crime in Jambi Province should focus on improving access to education and reducing unemployment. Balanced and inclusive development policies that integrate economic and social aspects are key to building a safer society.
