Abstract

Dehydration which is often caused by diarrhea is the leading cause of death in children under five. The severity of diarrhea can be prevented by breastfeeding as the mother's immunity transfers to her baby. This study aimed to describe the relationship between the history of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding, and their sustainability with the occurrence of diarrheal dehydration among toddlers. This descriptive correlation study was conducted among a total sampling of toddlers undergoing inpatient due to diarrhea at the Regional Hospital of Pekalongan Regency by 61 respondents. Data were collected from August to September, 2020, using demographic data, the history of early initiation of breastfeeding, the history of exsclusive breastfeeding, the sustainability of that variables, and the occurrence of diarrheal dehydration. Chi-Square was used to find out the relationship between the variables. This study showed that the relationship between either early initiation of breastfeeding or exclusive breastfeeding and the occurrence of diarrheal dehydration was not significant (p= 0,092, and p= 0,064, respectively). Interestingly, there was a relationship between the sustainability of early initiation of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding with diarrheal dehydration among hospitalized toddlers due to diarrhea (p= 0,029). Health care providers especially nursing in the labor room, should give more information about the importance of initiation of breastfeeding and the sustainability of it with exclusive breastfeeding among mothers after giving birth for preventing the occurrence of dehydration due to diarrhea among children in future.

Abstract

Hemiarthroplasty is a surgical procedure to replace half of the hip joint with a prosthesis or artificial joint. The radiology procedure for the Hemiarthroplasty at Orthopaedic Hospital Purwokerto uses Antero-posterior projection of the pelvis. This projection is different from the routine projection, namely the Unilateral Antero-posterior Hip Projection. The purpose of this study is to determine the procedure for radiographic examination in cases of Hemiarthroplasty and to find out the reasons for using the Antero-posterior Pelvis projection to establish the patient's diagnosis. This type of research was qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection conducted in December 2020 at the Radiology Installation of the Orthopaedic Hospital Purwokerto, using the methods of observation, documentation, and interviews with radiographers and radiologists. Data analysis performed with primary data taken from one patient with Hemiarthroplasty. The patient has a history of fracture (broken bone) in the right side of the femoral neck before hemiarthroplasty surgery. The results showed that the proper projection for Hemiarthroplasty is the Antero-posterior Pelvis projection. The reasons were to see a comparison between the right and left hip joints and to find if there is a space or distance from the hip joints after the surgery procedure. Radiologists can get needed anatomical information about the pelvis by performing an Antero-posterior projection.

Abstract

Nurses have a role to take part in disaster situations. The development of a theoretical for disaster nursing is very much needed, but there are not many articles that discuss disaster nursing. This can happen because the nature of disasters experienced by humans cannot be predicted when they will occur and Health professionals need to concentrate on these activities. There have not been many in-depth studies related to how prepared nurses are in dealing with disasters, given their important role, especially in providing physical and psychological handling and assistance to victims when a disaster occurs. The COVID-19 pandemic situation as it is now is also a challenge for health workers, especially nurses. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between knowledge and nurse readiness in disaster preparedness through the 8 dimensions contained in the Emergency Preparedness Information Questionnaire (EPIQ) for nurse readiness in disaster preparedness, and 40 questionnaires for knowledge about disasters. The sample is a nurse in a hospital, active in disaster activities, aged 21-60 years, and willing to become research respondents. The total number of nurses is 66 people. The data collection technique was carried out on all nurses who worked and were active in disaster activities at the PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital in Kebumen. Data was taken through an online recap and analyzed using SPSS 25. The results showed average knowledge is 61.4 with Std Dev 12.97 (38-88) and Nurse readiness 76.4 with Std Dev 6.62 (61-89). The results of the Pearson correlation test showed that there was a relationship between knowledge and nurse readiness in disaster preparedness (p = 0.000). Massive and continuous education process will improve nurses' preparedness in dealing with the COVID-19 disaster
