Abstract

The schools have been implementing online learning during the pandemic. Teachers are required to be able to do online learning where these activities require the role of information and communication technology (ICT). Teachers cannot ensure that every student will understand the material taught during online learning. Therefore, the teacher must make several effective learning methods and approaches which can make students enthusiastic in learning and understanding the material presented. One approach that can be used by teachers is CLT (Communicative Language Teaching). Social interactions used in communicative language teaching can be done through dialogue, discussion, role-playing, etc. Nowadays, teachers implement many applications to support the online learning process, such as SoundCloud, Zoom, and Google Classroom. The use of those applications is to assist students in improving their skills. CLT can be used to teach many things such as vocabulary development, communication among instructors and learners, use of specialist language to a minimum, use of language (in the context of communication in general), use of Information Technology, information search skills, personal viewpoint argumentation abilities, nonverbal skills, and group networking skills.

Abstract

The abrupt changes in the way how students learn was greatly affected by the covid-19 pandemic. Increasing number of reports on excessive worrying came from students. They had trouble sleeping and expressing their thoughts because of depression, stress, and anxiety. This action research was designed to reduce anxiety of students related to chemistry and taking test in an online learning through expressive writing. A total of twenty-six participants collaborated for a 4-week expressive writing program. Participants baseline measurements of their anxieties were recorded before they undergone a 20-minute writing task every week for the entire duration of the intervention. Data gathered revealed a significant reduction in the anxieties of the participants with medium effect for both chemistry and testing. It has been found out that female participants were significantly more anxious than male for both areas. Interview data revealed that participants’ anxieties were cause by self-doubt and overthinking, experience of failure, lack of prior knowledge and time. However, expressive writing provided sense of achievement, student’s empowerment, opportunity to control emotion, and feeling of relief.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop a portfolio assessment model to increase the self-regulated learning of students. With this product, it is hoped that it can become a reference for transformation from traditional assessments to increase self-regulated learning and achieve good learning outcomes. This research is development research to produce a product portfolio model. The results of the research that has been done, show that teachers at MAN 1 Bandar Lampung have difficulty in assessing the appropriate assessment for students and self-regulated learning students. Teachers have not been able to assess things other than traditional assessments, which only judge from the results and results of the exam so that students can evaluate the learning and assessments that have been done. This condition also affects the low self-regulated learning of students from students who rarely archive what has been given by the teacher. The portfolio assessment model has not been implemented in schools so that teachers and students expect a portfolio model so that it can increase the self-regulated learning of students. This research produces a portfolio assessment model and shows a very well-designed and relevant portfolio assessment model in economics learning.

Abstract

The most common method used in grilling food is by burning charcoal and food ingredients such as fish and meat, heated from the heat of the charcoal burning. This charcoal grill has the disadvantage that it will produce pollutants into the air. Technically, charcoal grills are more complicated to implement, because during the grilling process the fire must be continuously controlled so that it does not go out. Charcoal grilled food will also get dirty easily. This activity is carried out with the aim of getting a grill design that is easy to operate at home. The method used is engineering research. The activities undertaken are literature study, field observation and design. The result of this activity is the design of a grill that can be operated at home with ease.
