Abstract

Inventory control is crucial for balancing customer demand and inventory levels, especially in make-to-order production systems like those in refrigeration manufacturing. This study addresses the challenges faced by a company producing sandwich panels, where inefficiencies in inventory processing led to overstock and outstock issues. By applying the fuzzy inventory control method using Python, the study aimed to optimize inventory levels. The results showed a 6% reduction in inventory, from 191,307 m² to 182,619.4627 m², demonstrating the method's effectiveness. This approach can improve inventory management in similar industrial settings, aligning production with demand and reducing excess inventory. Highlight: Efficiency Boost: Fuzzy logic optimizes inventory, minimizing overstock and outstock. Precise Management: Python aids accurate inventory analysis for informed decisions. Cost Savings: Aligning inventory with demand reduces excess, enhancing profitability. Keywoard: Inventory control, Fuzzy logic, Optimization, Production management, Industrial engineering

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of varying welding electric current strengths (70 A, 100 A, and 130 A) on SS 400 metal welding using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) with an E6013 electrode. The aim is to identify the optimal current strength for minimizing defects and enhancing weld quality. Liquid penetrant testing is employed to detect welding defects, with results showing that excessively low or high current strengths result in increased defects, such as holes and red spots. The findings highlight the importance of utilizing an electric current around 100 A to achieve optimal weld quality, while liquid penetrant testing proves effective for defect detection and quality assessment, aiding in early prevention of corrosion and other issues in welding processes. Highlight: Optimizing Welding Parameters: Essential for minimizing defects and enhancing SS 400 metal weld quality. Effective Defect Detection: Liquid penetrant testing aids in identifying welding flaws efficiently. Enhanced Weld Quality: Utilizing optimal electric current strength improves weld integrity effectively. Keywoard: Welding, SS 400 metal, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Electric current, Liquid penetrant testing

Abstract

The escalating demand for electricity, coupled with Indonesia's commitment to expanding renewable energy sources, particularly solar power, underscores the necessity for innovative approaches in optimizing solar energy utilization. This paper addresses the deficiency in traditional fixed-angle solar panels, which fail to harness solar energy efficiently due to their inability to track the sun's movement. Through a comprehensive study utilizing literature review and system design, this research aims to develop an advanced solar tracker system to enhance energy production. The proposed solar tracker employs a scanning method to adjust panel orientation every hour, ensuring optimal sunlight absorption throughout the day. The methodology encompasses literature review, system design, and partial testing to evaluate sensor functionality, battery charging circuit, real-time clock module, and stepper motor driver. Results indicate that the solar tracker system increases electricity generation by 35.53% compared to fixed-angle panels, demonstrating its efficacy in maximizing solar energy utilization. Furthermore, the system's ability to adapt to changing weather conditions underscores its potential for practical implementation in renewable energy initiatives, thereby contributing to sustainable energy development. Highlight: Energy boost: Solar tracker increases electricity generation by 35.53%. Adaptive design: Scans hourly for optimal sunlight absorption. Practicality: Suitable for real-world renewable energy applications. Keywoard: Solar tracker, Renewable energy, Energy optimization, System design, Electrical efficiency
