Abstract

General Background The rapid growth of the business world necessitates that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) adopt effective strategies to maintain competitiveness amidst intense global market rivalry. Specific Background MSMEs, like the Shrimp Cracker producers in Wonoayu, Sidoarjo, play a crucial role in the national economy but often face internal limitations and external challenges that require strategic management. Knowledge Gap Many MSMEs prioritize production over strategic planning, lacking a formal framework to link internal capacity with external market dynamics to gain advantage. Aims This study employs a qualitative method to analyze the obstacles facing Wonoayu Shrimp Cracker MSMEs using SWOC analysis and proposes solutions through risk management. Results The analysis places the UMKM in the Weakness-Opportunity (WO) strategic quadrant, indicating that existing external opportunities should be leveraged to minimize internal weaknesses. Novelty The research combines the SWOC framework with risk management principles to provide practical, zone-based risk mitigation strategies for local UMKM. Implications The findings suggest that by focusing on the WO strategy and actively managing identified risks, the UMKM can achieve better advantage and superior competitiveness. Highlights: Wonoayu Shrimp Cracker MSMEs are positioned in the Weakness-Opportunity (WO) strategic quadrant. SWOC analysis is applied in conjunction with risk management for strategy formulation. The strategic recommendation is to leverage external opportunities to counter internal business weaknesses. Keywords: SWOC Analysis, Risk Management, MSMEs, Shrimp Crackers, Weakness Opportunity

Abstract

General background The vital role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in boosting national economic resilience underscores the need for effective marketing strategies. Specific background In Gempol, Pasuruan, a high concentration of convection MSMEs leads to intense market competition, demanding a thorough understanding of performance drivers. Knowledge gap Previous academic literature provides inconsistent evidence regarding the collective relationships between market orientation, product innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation on marketing performance. Aims This study sought to ascertain the simultaneous influence of market orientation, product innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation on the marketing performance of MSMEs in Gempol. Results Utilizing a quantitative approach on 100 randomly sampled MSMEs and analyzed using Smart PLS-4, the findings confirmed that market orientation, product innovation, and entrepreneurial orientation each positively influence marketing performance. Novelty This research provides empirical evidence specifically from the context of Indonesian convection MSMEs using a robust path analysis model. Implications The findings strongly suggest that MSMEs should prioritize these three orientations to maintain a competitive advantage, thereby ensuring sustained increases in sales and profitability. Highlights: Market focus, product novelty, and risk-taking drive MSME performance. A quantitative survey was conducted on 100 randomly sampled MSMEs in Gempol. Smart PLS-4 confirmed the simultaneous positive influence of all three variables. Keywords: Market Orientation, Product Innovation, Entrepreneurial Orientation, Marketing Performance, MSMEs

Abstract

General Background The increasing demand for renewable energy highlights the potential of biomass waste as a sustainable energy source. Specific Background Spent coffee grounds represent an abundant biomass material with high calorific potential, yet their utilization efficiency depends strongly on processing parameters during pelletization. Knowledge Gap Previous studies have not fully elucidated how compaction pressure and pressing duration affect the physicochemical characteristics of coffee-ground biopellets according to the SNI 8021:2014 standard. Aims This study investigates the effects of varying pressure (500, 750, and 1000 kgf) and pressing duration (30 s and 180 s) on the quality attributes of biopellets composed of 92.5% coffee waste and 7.5% tapioca adhesive. Results Findings indicate that higher pressure and longer pressing duration significantly improve density, reduce moisture and volatile matter, and enhance fixed carbon content, though the ash content remains above the acceptable limit. The optimal combination of 1000 kgf and 180 s produced biopellets meeting the SNI standards for calorific value and bound carbon. Novelty This research provides quantitative insights into the synergistic role of mechanical compaction and pressing time in optimizing biofuel quality from coffee waste. Implications The results support the advancement of circular bioenergy production in Indonesia by transforming coffee waste into high-quality renewable fuel. Highlights: High pressure and longer compression improve biopellet quality. Only 1000 kgf–180 s meets SNI standards for bound carbon and calorific value. High ash content remains the main limitation of coffee waste biopellets. Keywords: Biopellet, Coffee Waste, Pressure, Compression Time, Renewable Energy

Abstract

General Background: Financial reporting standards play a crucial role in ensuring the transparency and reliability of financial statements, especially in the insurance industry, which is heavily dependent on accurate estimation of receivable provisions. Specific Background: The implementation of PSAK 71 in Indonesia has introduced a forward-looking expected credit loss model, replacing the incurred loss approach, significantly affecting financial statement recognition and measurement. Aims: This study aims to compare receivable provisions and profit quality before and after the implementation of PSAK 71 among insurance companies registered with the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Results: The findings reveal a noticeable adjustment in provisioning policies and a moderate improvement in earnings quality post-implementation, indicating a more prudent financial reporting approach. Novelty: This study provides new insights into the practical implications of PSAK 71 on the insurance sector’s financial performance. Implications: The results are expected to assist regulators, investors, and practitioners in understanding the broader impact of accounting standard reforms on financial stability and transparency. Highlights: Examines financial reporting changes due to PSAK 71 implementation. Reveals improved prudence in receivable provisioning post-PSAK 71. Contributes to understanding earnings quality in Indonesia’s insurance sector. Keywords: PSAK 71, Receivable Provisions, Insurance Companies, Profit Quality, Financial Reporting

Abstract

General Background: Investment awareness among students has become increasingly vital as they represent a key demographic in developing future investors in Indonesia. Specific Background: Despite the growing accessibility of investment platforms, students’ willingness to invest remains low, particularly due to psychological and financial barriers. Knowledge Gap: Previous studies have not comprehensively examined the joint role of self-efficacy, minimum capital, perceived return, and risk in explaining students’ investment interest, especially among Generation Z learners. Aims: This study investigates how these four variables contribute to students’ investment interest at Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. Results: Using a quantitative approach and multiple linear regression analysis with 60 respondents, the findings reveal that self-efficacy, minimum capital, perceived return, and risk each significantly relate to investment interest. The model explains 49.2% of the variation in investment interest. Novelty: The inclusion of self-efficacy as a behavioral determinant under the Theory of Planned Behavior framework provides a deeper understanding of students’ investment motivation. Implications: The study highlights the need for targeted financial education and university-based investment literacy programs to strengthen confidence and rational decision-making among young investors. Highlights: Self-efficacy and perceived return are strong predictors of investment interest. Minimum capital accessibility motivates students’ investment participation. Risk perception moderates investment intentions among young investors. Keywords: Self Efficacy, Minimum Capital, Perceived Return, Risk, Investment Interest
