Abstract

Collaborative governance seems to be a response to failures in execution, exorbitant costs, and the politicization of public sector laws. The emphasis is on all stages of public policy. The unprecedented COVID-19 epidemic has compelled the government to be prepared to deal with it, and to do so fast and effectively. To combat the epidemic, the Indonesian government has implemented a variety of strategies, including social restrictions, mandated immunizations, national economic recovery, and so on. However, the government cannot undertake Collaborative government alone; thus, cross-disciplinary and field cooperation is required. As a result, the purpose of this research is to explore the application of collaborative governance in dealing with COVID-19 in Indonesia. This research combines a qualitative methodology with a descriptive approach. According to the findings of the research, collaborative governance in the management of COVID 19 has four key values: consensus orientation, collective leadership, multi-way communication, and resource sharing. Collaborative governance in COVID-19 management may take the form of, among other things, publicizing the hazards of COVID-19, providing masks, creating and spraying disinfectants, and distributing hand sanitizers.

Abstract

Depok city with more than 2 million people is an example of a city in a developing country facing complex urban problems. Solid waste handling is one of the critical issues in the city. More than 1,500 tons of waste are generated every day, and currently, the leading landfill site receives approximately 70% of the waste in the city. The purpose of this paper is to present a comprehensive waste management strategy for waste reduction in Depok City through community participation and modernisation of the local waste bank. The study combined qualitative data collection; interviews and direct observation in the two (2) waste bank, quantitative survey (Multinomial Logistic Regression method) with 319 waste bank managers, and 423 respondents from 11 sub-districts in Depok City. Infrastructures and socialisation are the two (2) variables that affect significantly towards modernisation of the waste bank. Meanwhile, in the context of community participation, only 36% of the respondents process their own household waste. Studies on the waste management subject are extensive, but this paper only discusses two (2) elements; community participation and modernisation of the waste bank. Extending more relevant elements of waste management will have contributed to the sustainability of the environment. This research complements references from previous studies that discuss sustainable waste management. It is hoped that the sustainable waste management strategy in Depok City can be an excellent example for other cities in other developing countries.

Abstract

One factor that influences and determines the success of the learning process is the environment, and the language environment is no exception. A quality language environment is significant for the success of someone learning a second language, in this case, Arabic. In this paper, the author wants to discuss the role of the language environment in improving Arabic learning skills. This research uses qualitative research. The qualitative research approach is a research and understanding process based on a methodology that investigates a social phenomenon and human problem. The results of the study show that the language environment plays an essential role in improving Arabic language skills because the language environment is designed in such a way that it is similar to the original environment so that there is an appreciation and supportive attitude towards learning Arabic from related parties so that it creates student motivation in learning Arabic. There are ten strategies to develop an Arabic learning environment, namely the formulation of a mission, strong commitment, reviewing the Arabic curriculum, determining Arabic language compulsory days, Arabic seminars, nuanced Arabic competitions, providing adequate Arabic language media, dormitory concepts with Arabic nuances, cooperation between institutions and the provision of rewards for achievers.
