Abstract

This research focuses on the increasing dysfunction of families in the digital era, which exacerbates issues such as poor communication, prolonged conflicts, and the inability to resolve problems. The digital era aggravates the decline in family relations, adds pressure, and increases the risk of divorce due to various economic, communication, and lifestyle issues. The research questions include the causes of family dysfunction in the digital era, its implications for marital relationships, and the importance of faith in family life. This study uses a qualitative method and a literature review approach to explore the causes and implications of family dysfunction through literature from various sources. The conclusion of the research emphasizes that marriage is a sacred social and spiritual bond, fundamental to the continuity of Christian families. A functional family is achieved when spouses have mature thinking and spiritual maturity, fulfill family responsibilities, and prioritize God's love. Practical recommendations for addressing family dysfunction include improving communication between partners, understanding and applying spiritual values in daily life, and emphasizing Christian faith and spiritual principles in marriage to build a functional family.

Abstract

Kabbalah and Hermitism are often unwittingly adopted into the practice of Christian theology due to the clergy's ignorance of this occult philosophical knowledge. The practice of occult philosophy sometimes unconsciously enters into the social practice of Christian society, especially those that are thick with local culture. The concept of cultural inculturation is a legitimization that is often used as an excuse to announce the practice. The purpose of this writing is to provide theological thinking insights into the philosophical practices of the Kabbalah occult and Hermitism so that the church returns to the true teachings and is based on the principles of the Christian faith. This research method uses a qualitative method based on literature research, observation of social conditions, community culture, and history. The results of the study show that the practices of Philosophy, Kabbalah Occultism and Hermitism inadvertently inculturate the socio-pastoral conditions of the Christian faith, which also has an impact on legalized religious ritual actions.

Abstract

The background of this study is the lack of male ministers in the local church in GPdI Sungai Bahar Region I. The research aims to look at the reasons for men's non-involvement in ministry and pinpoint areas of need for men's involvement, then encourage men to get involved in local church ministry which will have a positive impact on church ministry. The research method used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observation. The scope of the research was men in local congregations in the working area of the Regional Assembly I of the Pentecostal Church in Indonesia (GPdI) Sungai Bahar, Jambi Province with a total of 88 adult men (married) from 21 local congregations. The results obtained are that many men have not been involved in the ministry because they do not fully understand the reasons and forms of involvement that they can do. The conclusion of this study is that the more men's involvement in local church ministry is maximized, the greater the achievements that can be done in the local congregation, so that serious efforts are needed from pastors to seek men's involvement in local congregations through inspirational stories from men who are involved in ministry.

Abstract

This study aims to bridge the understanding of the medical conditions that may have occurred in the centurion's servants in Capernaum as recorded in the Gospels of Matthew (8:5-13) and Luke (7:1-10). This research shows that the differences in descriptions of the servant's condition between the two Gospels are natural and understandable in the context of the knowledge and observations of each author. The results of the analysis show that the descriptions of paralysis and great suffering in Matthew and near death in Luke are consistent with the symptoms of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Thus, this study shows that variations in the Gospel narratives reflect diverse eyewitness perspectives and enrich our understanding of the complexity of the testimonies about Jesus' life and ministry. In this way, we can understand that these differences should not be considered as contradictions but rather as natural variations in eyewitness reports based on the different viewpoints and emphases of each author.

Abstract

Samgar b. Anath is an unpopular judge in the history of the judges. His story only appears in two verses in the Bible, Judges 3:31 and Judges 5:6. The very limited story of Samgar b. Anat makes him less popular and desirable to discuss.   Therefore, this study aims to explore the origin and leadership of Samgar b. Anath as a judge over Israel, which has an impact on preparing oneself to be a leader.   The research used descriptive qualitative method, hermeneutic study and found three important lessons that impacted the preparation of being a leader, namely: first, leaders must prepare themselves well, because God can use anyone to be His chosen one; second, leaders must have a strong sense of confidence; third, leaders must rely on God. This research is very important and serves as input for leaders to decide to live right and make a difference, as well as develop the resources available to them.

Abstract

Currently, it is going viral on social media about deviant teachings from people who claim to be progressive Christians. The salvation taught by progressive Christians is contrary to the concept of salvation in the Christian faith. The Christian concept of salvation from ancient times to the present remains the same, never changing that salvation can only be obtained in Jesus Christ. The Bible very clearly says that He is the way, the truth, and the life; no one can come to the Father except through Him. In this research, the author used a descriptive qualitative research method with the aim of looking for Biblical evidence and literature regarding the correct concept of salvation regarding Christianity. The findings from the presentation of this topic reveal that the salvation taught by Progressive Christians is heretical because, firstly, it rejects Jesus as the only God and Savior of mankind; secondly, it upholds pluralism that in all religions there must be salvation; and thirdly, it teaches that salvation can be obtained by doing deeds. well, and fourthly rejecting the Bible as the ultimate authority for Christians.

Abstract

What faith is and how to express it are two essential questions that seem easy but are complicated to answer. According to the prosperity gospel adherents, faith must be expressed through imagining (visualization) and saying (affirmation), as written in Genesis 15:5-6. However, for some groups, this teaching deviates from the truth according to the Bible and is more similar to the law of attraction. This article intends to criticize the visualization concept and to explore what is faith according to Genesis 15:5-6 by using the library research method combined with text exposition. The conclusion is that according to Genesis 15:5-6, true faith focuses on God's will entirely without the help of the power of human thoughts and words. Thus, visualization teaching, apart from being unbiblical, is also humanistic and tends to lead to syncretism.
