The development of media technology and freedom of releasing news led to fake news or hoaxes spread to form a public opinion in order to get particular interests which are used to attack each other, accuse, slander, and generate stereotypes, even to claim that a specific group or religion is superior to others. This study takes under scrutiny the Qur'anic perspective about hoaxes and technology literacy to help provide context for an effort to combat fake news. Using a thematic and an anthropological approach to the Qur’an, this study has found that the Qur’an narrates that hoaxes have existed since the first humans, Adam and Eve, to test the true faith as well as pretense. The Qur’an gives a sign that the eternal enemy of honesty is a hoax. Tabayyun is a crucial concept for fighting hoaxes, and qalam is the medium.

This study focuses on examining the challenges and needs for the reformulation of the da'wah and communication paradigm in the post-pandemic era. Through a qualitative approach, the results of this study show that in the post-pandemic era, da'wah requires a redefinition and reformulation of paradigms, known as the happy da'wah paradigm, namely placing happiness in the experience of the da'wah process and the practice of religious teachings, not on the purpose of da'wah. The performance of the activity system is directed to "offer" the da'wah message, not to "impose" the message. The appearance and performance of this system is packaged in an attractive, creative, innovative, supportive and affirmative communication pattern by utilizing information technology as an efficient communication medium.

This study focuses on deradicalization practices carried out by Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) through NU Online media (nu.or.id), to dismantle power relations in deradicalization practices in particular. The research method uses Foucault's Critical Discourse Analysis, which emphasizes two elements, namely discourse practice and dominant-marginal discourse. The results of the study show, first, deradicalization has become the dominant discourse in nu.or.id as the right measure to overcome radicalism. Deradicalization practices at NU's online media are carried out by proposing deradicalization regional regulations (Raperda), workshops and seminars, reciting Kitab, and meetings of interfaith leaders. Second, the power relations in deradicalization practices carried out by NU are influenced by NU's power relations with the government. The results of this study confirm the existence of a strategic role for NU's online mediain in disseminating the idea of deradicalization to overcome radicalism in Indonesia.

This study aims to analyse the representation of Middle Eastern Muslims in the video clip, Stereotype World: The Middle East Speak UP!, created by Haifa Beseisso, a rapper, Youtube vlogger, philanthropist and Palestinian activist in collaboration with Qatari director Kimo Basha. Using Roland Barthes' Semiotics analysis, the findings illustrate that the visual codes in the video clip Stereotype World: The Middle East Speak UP! deconstruct Middle Eastern myths built by Orientalists. This video clip represents modern-civilised Middle Eastern Muslims, friendly people who love peace and respect differences. Additionally, Islam, which is depicted through Muslim Tengah in this video clip, represents freedom of expression for Muslim women with advanced civilization and a modern lifestyle.
