Abstract

This study examines the role of BUMDes Sawit Mandiri in Cibubukan Village, Aceh Singkil, as a concrete effort to promote community empowerment and economic independence at the village level. Emerging from a context of stagnant socio-economic conditions, low village revenue, and underutilized assets, BUMDes was established to manage local potential—particularly palm oil plantations in a professional, participatory, and sustainable manner. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that community participation is a key determinant of BUMDes’ success, although challenges persist due to limited information access, residents’ work constraints, and insufficient communication between local government and the community. The study also highlights that the success of BUMDes is not solely measured by its economic outcomes but also by its ability to foster collective awareness, strengthen accountability, and reinforce local social structures. Therefore, BUMDes Sawit Mandiri functions not only as a village business unit but also as a transformative social institution with the potential to achieve local economic sovereignty when managed under the principles of participation, transparency, and community empowerment.

Abstract

Village government administration constitutes an essential element in supporting governance implementation and public service delivery, as stipulated in Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. The implementation of village administration requires adequate capacity of village officials. Capacity refers to the ability, skills, understanding, attitudes, values, relationships, behaviors, motivation, resources, and conditions that enable individuals, organizations, networks, sectors, and broader systems to perform their functions in order to achieve established development goals over time. However, in practice, disparities remain in the level of capacity among village officials in understanding and implementing administrative governance in an orderly, systematic manner and in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations. In this context, Parlilitan Subdistrict, as part of Humbang Hasundutan Regency, holds a strategic role in providing guidance and assistance to village governments, as mandated by Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government. This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of village officials through administrative governance assistance conducted during an internship program at the Parlilitan Subdistrict Office. The implementation method employed a mentoring and participatory approach, involving students directly in governmental administrative activities and office services within the subdistrict environment. The results of the program indicate that administrative assistance effectively improved the understanding and skills of village officials in managing governmental administration, while also strengthening coordination between village and subdistrict governments. Ultimately, the administrative mentoring initiative contributes to improving the performance of village governance in Parlilitan Subdistrict, Humbang Hasundutan Regency.

Abstract

Electronic Identity Card (E-KTP) recording services are a crucial part of population administration, ensuring legal certainty and fulfilling civil rights. In MEDANG Deras District, the implementation of E-KTP recording services still faces various challenges, such as limited facilities and infrastructure, technical equipment and network disruptions, and poor public understanding of service procedures and requirements. This community service initiative aims to improve the quality of E-KTP recording services through mentoring and direct community participation. The approach used is participatory, using qualitative descriptive methods through field observations, applicant assistance, and direct involvement in the administrative service process. Assistance is provided by explaining the service flow, assisting with document completion, and supporting officials in the population data recording process. The results of the activity indicate that mentoring and direct participation can improve public understanding, streamline the service process, reduce administrative errors, and increase the effectiveness of official work. This effort also encourages the creation of more orderly, responsive, and community-oriented services to support population administration at the sub-district level.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of sharia contract mentoring (pendampingan akad) in developing sharia products during the establishment phase of the IIQ Jakarta Cooperative. The primary focus is to ensure that the institutional design, types of services, contract documents, and operational procedures of the cooperative align with sharia principles and prevailing positive law. The method utilized is a normative-juridical approach, examining laws and regulations, the fatwas of the National Sharia Board of the Indonesian Council of Ulama (DSN-MUI), and relevant academic works concerning the practices of sharia cooperative products. The results indicate that sharia contract mentoring should not be understood merely as selecting Arabic terminology for a product, but rather as a process of aligning members' needs, transaction characteristics, risk-sharing, profit mechanisms, agreement documents, and sharia supervision. During the establishment phase, the products that are generally relevant to be developed include mudharabah-based deposits, syirkah or mudharabah-based business financing, murabahah-based goods financing, ijarah-based service financing, and qardh-based benevolent funds. This article asserts that contract mentoring from the initial establishment phase will minimize the risk of product deviations, clarify the rights and obligations of the parties involved, strengthen members' trust, and provide a sound foundation for the growth of campus-based sharia cooperatives.

Abstract

The millennial generation currently lives amidst a massive digitalization of financial information. Unfortunately, their high desire for financial independence often leads to the trap of illegal/fake investments due to low literacy regarding safe and sharia-compliant investment instruments. This community service project aims to socialize and assist 85 millennials in the Ahya Bilkhair Foundation environment, Serua, Ciputat, South Tangerang City, enabling them to utilize Sharia Banking and Sharia Capital Market products as safe, legal, and halal investment instruments. Utilizing the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, this project actively engaged participants in cycles of financial portfolio mapping, critical reflection on the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) phenomenon, planning, account opening simulation, and evaluation. Initial observations indicated that participants' literacy regarding instruments such as Sukuk, Sharia Mutual Funds, and the Sharia Online Trading System (SOTS) was very low, as they were more familiar with speculative applications. Through participatory actions such as dissecting sharia financial applications and opening sharia securities accounts, the participants' understanding and financial risk mitigation skills increased significantly from an average of 43 to 88. The conclusion of this activity affirms that applicative sharia financial literacy education can transform the millennial generation at the Ahya Bilkhair Foundation from objects of speculative investment exploitation into smart investors who contribute to strengthening the Islamic economic ecosystem.

Abstract

Waste management remains a significant environmental challenge in Indonesia, including in school environments that often lack proper waste management systems. Low student awareness in disposing of and sorting waste can negatively affect school cleanliness and the development of environmentally responsible behavior. This community service activity aims to improve elementary school students’ knowledge and awareness of waste management through a smart waste management socialization program. The activity was conducted at SDN 3 Klaling Kudus and involved fourth-grade students as participants. The implementation method consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. During the implementation stage, activities included the delivery of educational materials on types and impacts of waste, interactive games on waste sorting, and hands-on practice in separating organic and inorganic waste. Evaluation was carried out through observation, question-and-answer sessions, and simple quizzes to measure students’ understanding. The results indicate an improvement in students’ knowledge, participation, and awareness in maintaining cleanliness and sorting waste properly. This activity effectively promotes environmentally responsible behavior among elementary school students.

Abstract

Pasir Putih Village, located in Teluk Pakedai District, Kubu Raya Regency, possesses considerable local resources in the form of snakehead fish and bananas that have not been optimally utilized by the community. The limited skills and knowledge of the local community in processing these commodities have resulted in low economic added value. This community engagement program aimed to enhance community knowledge and practical skills through training on the diversification of processed snakehead fish and banana products. The program was implemented through several stages, including needs assessment, program planning, hands-on training, mentoring, and activity evaluation. The target participants were members of the local Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) group. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in participants’ understanding and practical abilities in processing snakehead fish into fish cakes (pempek) and bananas into banana chips. In addition, the program increased community motivation to develop household-based enterprises utilizing local resources. The product diversification training is expected to contribute to strengthening family income and supporting the sustainable development of community-based micro-enterprises.

Abstract

Low contraceptive coverage in Kuta Baharu District (40.6%) is largely attributable to knowledge gaps among health cadres who serve as frontline promoters of Family Planning (FP). Structured educational interventions grounded in andragogical principles and visual media are regarded as effective strategies to strengthen cadre capacity. This study aimed to analyze the effect of a FP educational intervention on the knowledge improvement of health cadres in Kuta Baharu District, Aceh Singkil Regency. A pre-experimental one-group pre-test post-test design was employed. All FP cadres within the working area of Kuta Baharu Primary Health Center (n=18) were enrolled via total sampling. The intervention consisted of a 60-minute interactive educational lecture supplemented by a 30-minute discussion session and visual media (PowerPoint and leaflet). A validated 10-item multiple-choice questionnaire (score range 0–100) was used as the measurement instrument. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Mean knowledge scores increased significantly from 72.78 (SD=21.30) at pre-test to 92.78 (SD=7.71) at post-test (Δ=+20.00 points; p<0.001). The proportion of cadres categorized as having Good knowledge (score ≥80) rose from 50.0% to 100.0%. The marked reduction in standard deviation reflected homogenization of understanding across respondents following the intervention. An interactive lecture- and visual media-based FP educational intervention was proven effective in significantly and uniformly improving health cadres’ knowledge. Strengthening cadre capacity through structured education contributes to the optimization of cadres as change agents in FP programs in areas with low contraceptive coverage.
