Abstract

This community service program aims to strengthen the instructional competence of teachers at TPQ Al Hidayah, Pacarejo Village, through tahsin training and reinforcement of tajwid understanding in order to support teachers’ readiness for Ummi Method certification. The program was implemented using the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which positions teachers as the main assets of the community. The methods employed included initial observation, deliberation with TPQ administrators, participatory training sessions, and program evaluation. The training process involved the delivery of tajwid materials, guided Qur’an reading practices, direct feedback, and reflective discussions. The results indicate a significant improvement in teachers’ competencies, particularly in the accuracy of Qur’anic recitation, application of tajwid rules, and the ability to independently identify and correct recitation errors. In addition, teachers demonstrated increased confidence in guiding students, and two teachers were identified as having strong potential to be recommended for Ummi Method certification. The program also produced a sustainability plan in the form of regular tahsin sessions to ensure continuous improvement in the quality of Qur’anic education at TPQ Al Hidayah.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to optimize Iqra’ learning at TPQ Ubay bin Ka’ab through a community-based approach (Asset-Based Community Development/ABCD) in Padukuhan Jasem, Pacarejo, Gunungkidul. The program was initiated in response to the mismatch between students’ actual reading abilities and their assigned Iqra’ levels, which affected the effectiveness of Qur’anic learning. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach within a community service framework. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and placement tests involving 30 students and two teachers. The intervention included conducting placement tests, regrouping students according to their real abilities, standardizing a 60-minute learning structure, adding learning sessions, and providing teacher mentoring in tajwid and makharijul huruf. The results indicate significant improvement in students’ reading fluency, accuracy in pronunciation, and understanding of long and short vowel rules. In addition, teachers demonstrated greater consistency in correcting recitation based on proper tajwid principles. The ABCD approach effectively strengthened community participation and institutional awareness, leading to a more structured and sustainable Qur’anic learning system.

Abstract

Strengthening managerial leadership is a strategic aspect in improving the quality of governance in Islamic higher education institutions, particularly in facing the challenges of increasingly complex and data-driven higher education transformation. However, academic management is often not supported by an integrated lecturer competency mapping system, hampering institutional strategic planning. This community service activity aims to develop a model for strengthening managerial leadership through mentoring lecturers' governance and branch mapping at UNISBA using a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) approach. Implementation methods included collaborative Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), co-design of branch mapping, and joint policy validation involving structural officials, internal institutions, and lecturers as active partners. The results of the activity demonstrated increased participatory leadership capacity, the development of a data-based branch mapping model, and the strengthening of a more transparent, collaborative, and adaptive governance system tailored to the needs of the institution. The integration of Islamic leadership values ​​such as trustworthiness and deliberation also strengthens an organizational culture oriented toward accountability and sustainability. This mentoring model has the potential to become a good practice in developing participatory managerial leadership-based governance in Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the capacity of local human resources in managing tourism in Soco Village, Magetan Regency, which faces challenges in professional management, high-quality services, and digital marketing. The method used is participatory and collaborative, involving partners through Focus Group Discussions, Training, and Mentoring. The program stages included needs identification, preparation of training materials (PowerPoint, pre-test/post-test questions, and handbooks), implementation of Human Resources management training (focusing on organizational structure and Standard Operating Procedures), and post-activity mentoring. The results showed an increase in participants' understanding based on pre-test and post-test scores, the formation of an ideal organizational structure for SOHEDEN tourism, and the preparation of operational SOPs for each division. The program outputs include a practical handbook, a final activity report, news publications in online media, and an Implementing Agreement with partners. This activity contributes positively to strengthening community-based tourism management and supports the development of a sustainable village economy. Keywords:  community service; tourism management; human resources; digital marketing; Soco Village   Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kapasitas sumber daya manusia lokal dalam pengelolaan pariwisata di Desa Soco, Kabupaten Magetan, yang menghadapi tantangan dalam manajemen profesional, pelayanan berkualitas, dan pemasaran digital. Metode yang digunakan adalah partisipatif dan kolaboratif dengan melibatkan mitra melalui diskusi kelompok terfokus, pelatihan, dan pendampingan. Tahapan kegiatan meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan, penyusunan materi pelatihan (PowerPoint, soal pre-test/post-test, dan hand book), pelaksanaan pelatihan manajemen SDM (fokus pada struktur organisasi dan Standar Operasional Prosedur), serta pendampingan pasca kegiatan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman peserta berdasarkan hasil pre-test dan post-test, terbentuknya struktur organisasi yang ideal untuk wisata SOHEDEN, serta tersusunnya SOP operasional untuk setiap divisi. Luaran program ini meliputi hand book praktis, laporan akhir kegiatan, publikasi berita di media online, serta Implementasi Agreement dengan mitra. Kegiatan ini berkontribusi positif dalam penguatan pengelolaan pariwisata berbasis komunitas dan mendukung pengembangan ekonomi desa yang berkelanjutan. Abstract

Women’s empowerment is a key strategy to enhance rural economic independence through the development of local potential-based enterprises and the utilization of digital technology. In Petanang Village, Lembak District, Muara Enim Regency, women process cassava into crackers; however, product innovation and marketing remain limited to conventional methods. This community service program aimed to improve women’s capacity through cassava sponge cake innovation and the optimization of social media with the assistance of the local youth organization (Karang Taruna) as digital facilitators. The method applied was a participatory approach involving observation, product innovation training, and digital marketing assistance. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ skills in producing value-added products and utilizing social media for promotion. This program has the potential to serve as a sustainable empowerment model for women-led MSMEs based on local resources and digital literacy. Abstract

Banana peel waste in rural areas stays an unresolved environmental problem, even though peels contain useful nutrients like fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants. Durajaya Village in Cirebon Regency is among the largest banana transit centers, producing large volumes of peel waste every day. This community program aimed to improve residents' skills, including people with disabilities, in turning banana peels into nuggets as a potential home-based business. The program covered three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation, using a practical training method. Participants learned about the nutritional value of banana peels, safe processing techniques, and recipe ideas. Thirty-five people joined, including PKK mothers, local youth, and individuals with disabilities. About 90 percent of participants successfully made banana peel nuggets on their own, with good taste and a clear grasp of the nutritional benefits. Follow-up evaluation showed some participants had already used the product at home and considered it a small business option. The program boosted skills, raised awareness about organic waste use, and supported disability group involvement in productive economic activities. One limitation was that the final products were not tested in a laboratory for nutritional content.

Abstract

The digitization of the judicial system through the implementation of electronic court summonses (e-summons) is part of efforts to modernize legal services with the aim of improving efficiency and access to justice. However, the implementation of e-summons faces serious challenges at the rural community level, especially among communities with limited digital literacy or technological illiteracy. This Community Service (PkM) activity aims to increase understanding of electronic court summonses (e-summons) among the community of Jirek Mas Village, which has limited technology proficiency. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with an educational-participatory model through stages of observation, legal socialization, simple technology education, simulation, and mentoring. Data was collected through observation, interviews, pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and activity documentation. The PkM results showed that before the activity was carried out, the majority of the community did not understand the meaning, delivery medium, or legal force of e-summons. After the education and mentoring activities, there was a significant increase in the community's understanding of all measured indicators. This activity proves that an educational-participatory approach is effective in increasing legal literacy and awareness among rural communities regarding the electronic court system. Thus, this Community Service Program contributes to supporting the implementation of inclusive court digitalization and strengthening access to justice for rural communities.

Abstract

Strengthening women's entrepreneurial leadership based on Islamic values ​​is a strategic need for rural religious organizations in promoting independence and sustainability of empowerment programs. This article aims to analyze the contribution of the Service Learning (SL)-based Community Service (PkM) program in strengthening women's entrepreneurial leadership in the NU Women's Organization in Tirta Mulya Village. The program is designed to be integrated with the Islamic Educational Leadership course and involves students as co-learners and learning facilitators at each SL stage, including pre-service, action/service, reflection, and evaluation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through participant observation, interviews, reflective discussions, and activity documentation. Data analysis was conducted thematically to identify changes in leadership capacity, community entrepreneurship practices, and organizational governance. The results of the PkM indicate that the implementation of SL effectively drives change at three levels. At the individual level, participants experienced an increased understanding and attitude of entrepreneurial leadership. At the group level, there was increased participation, collaboration, and collective role sharing in community entrepreneurship practices. At the organizational level, there was a shift in orientation from administrative management to a more planned and sustainability-oriented program-based governance. Structured reflection based on Islamic values—such as amanah (trust), deliberation, and muhasabah serves as an ethical foundation that strengthens the legitimacy and accountability of women's entrepreneurial leadership. These findings confirm that service learning not only impacts individual capacity building but also generates capacity development at the organizational level. This article contributes to the development of an integrative, potentially replicable, service learning-based community service model for women's faith-based organizations. It also provides policy implications for universities and the Institute for the Development of Women's Empowerment (LP2M) in mainstreaming service learning as a service strategy based on reflective learning and values.

Abstract

This community engagement program aims to improve the quality of diniyah learning at TPQ Al-Hidayah Jelok through the implementation of active learning within the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) framework. The program was conducted over four weeks involving santri, teachers, and TPQ administrators. The ABCD approach was applied through stages of asset identification, program design, implementation, and evaluation. Data were collected through participatory observation, interviews, documentation, and descriptive learning evaluations. The findings indicate that active learning strategies such as small group discussions, structured question-and-answer sessions, simulations of worship practices, and simple presentations significantly enhanced students’ conceptual understanding and engagement. Santri were able to explain the pillars of faith and Islam in simple language, understand basic meanings of daily prayers, and perform ablution and prayer more systematically. In addition, students showed increased confidence, participation, and learning motivation. The program also strengthened teachers’ capacity to apply interactive learning methods independently. Overall, the integration of active learning within the ABCD framework effectively improved diniyah instruction quality and fostered sustainable collaborative learning practices at TPQ.

Abstract

This community service research aimed to increase students' awareness of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) through education and hands-on practice. The method used was a participatory approach, with students providing interactive counseling and demonstrating clean living practices, including proper handwashing, personal hygiene, and school environmental management. Observations of the implementation of these practices revealed positive behavioral changes in students, including practicing handwashing before and after activities, disposing of trash properly, and maintaining classroom cleanliness. This activity increased individual awareness while strengthening a sustainable healthy school culture. These findings are expected to serve as a model for implementing the PHBS program in other elementary schools and provide practical contributions to community health promotion and prevention efforts
