Abstract

POTENSIAL DEVELOPMENT OF CATTLE IN TARERAN SUB DISTYRICT, MINAHASA.Farm development showed a good prospect and has an important role in the growth of the agricultural economy . The problem is the extent to which the potential of land resources , human resorces and livestock capacity . Based on this problems we performed the research / The aimed of the research was to know potensial development of cattle in District Tareran South Minahasa regency Survey mehode was used . Source of data used are primary data and secondary data . Primary data was collected from the district office and the Office Tareran BP3K ( Hall extension , agriculture , fisheries and forestry ) .Secondary data collected from government office that in line with this research.  Datal analysis used descriptive analysis , and analysis of the potential for livestock development efektif.Hasil bahwapotensi study showed maximum in livestock units based land resources ( PMSL ) of 5.238,1ST . Capacity increase in the cattle population by land resources ( KKPTR ( SL ) of 5058.65 ST , the real population of cattle ( POPRIL ) of 179,45ST , Potential of maximum based head of the family ( PMKK ) for 7380 ST , and capacity enhancement cattle population ( KPPTR ( KK ) of 7200.55 ST ..   Keywords : cattle , potential , development

Abstract

MACROSCOPIC TEST OF FRESH SEMEN IN GOAT BREEDS OF ETTAWAH, BOER AND SAANEN AT LEMBANG ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION CENTER. Research aim to evaluate the macroscopic quality of fresh semen in goat breeds of Ettawah, Boer and Saanen at Lembang Artificial Insemination Center. Direct observation was done to obtain primer data. Secondary data were found as additional data supporting primer data. Variables included in observation were involving semen volume, ejaculates, color, consistence, pH and smell. Semen qualities of three breed groups collected on three sequent months were analyzed by t-test method. Results showed that semen qualities for ejaculates from three breed groups of Ettawah, Boer and Saanen collected on different months of September, October and November were not significantly different with the averages of 2.47 ml, 2.64 ml and 2.70 ml respectively. Semen volume from three breed groups of Ettawah, Boer and Saanen collected on those different months were also not significantly different with the averages of significantly different with the averages of 2,30 2,64 and 2,60 mL, respectively. The percentages of color of fresh semen from Ettawah, Boer and Saanen collected on those different months were indicating cream of semen collected on September, October in Ettawah Grade, Boer and Saanen. Fresh semen of these breeds was indicating yellow color collected on November, but it was showing normal condition. Fresh semen of these breeds collected on those months were totally indicating thick consistency. However, pH of fresh semen in all three breeds of goat collected on September and October were significantly different with those collected on November. The pH of fresh semen in these breeds collected on September and October were not significantly different. Values of pH in these breeds collected on September, October and November were 6.63, 6.65 and 6.70, respectively. These values were ranging in normal condition. The smell of fresh semen in these breeds collected on those series of months was indicating specific rancid smell.Key words: Fresh semen quality, goat breed, semen collection period

Abstract

ABSTRACTTHE POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT OF  BEEF CATTLE INWESTSUB TOMPASO DISTRICT.The objectives of this study was to find out the 1) various supporting resources for the development of beef cattle in West Sub Tompaso district, 2) Annalizing by LQ (Location Quotient) to determine the chosen location for beefcattle industry development in West Tompaso District. To know of cattle breeding potential in West sub Tompaso district.The sources of the research data were from secondary data which was collected from the district office of West Tompaso board of Agricultural, Fisheries and Forestry Extension. Office analysis model used Location Quotation (LQ) analysis model of potential and capacity of the area for beef cattle industry development in West Tompaso District. Based on the results of the analysis show that LQ sub TompasoWest has LQ 2.08 which is the base area. According to the results of maximum potential development of animal unit (AU) based on land resources was about 2.269,03 AU, capacity of increasing cow population-based area was about 1.180,53 AU, real cattle population was about 1.088,5AU, maximum potential based family unit was about 6.012 AU, and capacity of cattle population growth was about 4.923,5 AU. These values show that West Tompaso District has potential in developing beef cattle industry.Keywords: Beef cattle, potential area

Abstract

THE INFLUENCES OF DIFFERENT COOKING POT ON THE PHYSIC-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF THE TRADITIONAL “RINTEK WUUK (RW)” SEASONING CHICKEN. This research was done to evaluate the influence of cooking methods with different containers on physic-chemical properties (pH, water holding capacity, and cooking losses) of chicken meat seasoning traditional “rintek wuuk (RW)”. The research was conducted using complete random draft (CRD) through three container treatment (bamboo, ground and frying pan) using RW traditional seasoning. The physic-chemical properties were analyzed in animal science technology laboratory. Data analysis used analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results of this study showed that different cooking containers did not affect the physic-chemical properties of seasoning RW chicken meat. These results can be concluded that the use of different containers did not give a real influence on the physic-chemical properties of the seasoning RW chicken meat. Keywords: Chicken meat, cooking container, RW seasoning, Physic-chemical properties.

Abstract

ABSTRACT EFFECTS OF INCREASING CONCENTRATE RATIO IN THE RATION OF PERANAKAN ETTAWAH GOAT UNDER NATURAL HEAT  ENVIRONMENT ON FEED INTAKE, PHYSIOLOGICAL RESPONSES, AND GROWTH. The research was conducted to study the effect of increasing the proportion of concentrate in the ration of Peranakan Ettawah (PE) goats. Animals were maintained in a natural hot environment on feed consumption, physiological responses, and body weight gain. The study used three male goats of PE in Latin Square design. Treatment applied was an increase in the proportion of concentrate in three forage-concentrate ratio (F:C), R1 = 85:15%; R2 = 70:30%; and R3 = 55:45%. The results showed that the treatment ratio of F:C had no effect (P> 0.05) in feed intake, respiration rate, rectal temperature, and body weight gain. In contrast, treatment affected significantly (P <0.05) heart rate, as follows R1 vs. R2 and R1 vs. R3, whereas R2 and R3 were not significantly different (P> 0.05). Abstract

PERFORMANCE PRODUCTION AND EGG SHELL THICKNESS OF QUAIL (Coturnix coturnix japonica) AT 6-14 WEEKS OLD AT DIFFERENT LIGHTING LENGTH. This study was done to determine the effect of the lighting length on the performance of quail production at 6-14 weeks old. This research was conducted at the experimental laboratory of Animal Production Department, Faculty of Animal Husbandry Sam Ratulangi University Manado, during the period from January 7, 2017 to March 3, 2017. The ration used was SP-22 commercial feed by PT. Sinta Fredmill. The total of quails used were 80 birds. Birds were maintained in a 60cm x 40cm baterrey system, using 5 watts power light. The variables measured were feed consumption, egg production and peak production, egg weight, and thickness of the egg shell. The design used in this study was a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. Each replication of experiment involved 4 quails with the treatments; R0 = 12 hours of illumination; R1 = 16 hours of illumination; R2 = 20 hours of illumination; R3 = 24 hours of illumination. Feeding and drinking water were prepared ad libitum. The result of the analysis showed that duration of lighting did not affect the averages of feed consumption, egg production, egg weight and egg shell thickness, but peak production could be reached more than 80% at the thirteenth week. Therefore, it can be concluded that the addition of light for female quail production at 6-14 weeks old did not affect feed consumption, peak production, egg weight, and thickness of the egg shell Keywords: Quail, performance production, lighting length illumination

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui performa reproduksi sapi perah Peranakan Friesien Holstein yang ada di Balai Pengembangan Bibit dan Pakan Ternak Tampusu. Penelitian ini menggunakan ternak berjumlah 19 ekor ternak sapi perah peranakan Frisien Holstein yang berumur antara 3-9 tahun. Ternak-ternak tersebut sudah pernah dilakukan inseminasi buatan (IB) dan beranak (partus). Pakan yang diberikan terdiri dari 80% hijauan dan 20% konsentrat. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan wawancara langsung kepada beberapa pengawas kendang dengan menggunakan kuisioner. Informasi yang diperoleh berkaitan dengan data-data reproduksi yang terdiri dari service per conception (S/C), calving interval (CI) dan days open (DO). Sampel  sebanyak 19 ekor ternak, diperoleh hasil data reproduksinya sebagai hasil penelitian terdiri dari service per conception sebanyak 1,7±0,71 kali, lamanya calving interval yaitu 13,2±0,65 bulan dan days open selama 86±6,38 hari. Dari hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa sapi perah betina Peranakan Friesien Holstein (PFH) yang ada di Balai Pengembangan Bibit dan Pakan Ternak Tampusu mempunyai service per conception pendek, calving interval sedikit panjang dan days open pendek.Kata Kunci : performa reproduksi, sapi Peranakan Fries Holstein, peternakan sapi perah Tampusu

Abstract

ABSTRACT   EFFECT OF INCOME ON MEAT AND EGG CONSUMPTION IN WEST SIAU DISTRICT OF THE SIAU TAGULANDANG BIARO REGENCY. Generally, coastal farmer community have low income causing consumptions of livestock product are low. West Siau district was including in the Siau Tagulandang Biaro Island regency as the coastal area. Majority of the population of this regency were household farmer and fisher men, causing consumption of livestock product depended on their income. Objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of income on meat and egg consumption in West Siau district. Samples of villages were defined using purposive sampling method, referring to villages with high population staying on the coastal area including villages of Pelingsawang, Peling and Paniki. Data were collected using survey method including primary and secondary data. Household farmers were defined based on simple random sampling with the total of 41 persons. Variables observed were total meat consumption, total egg consumption and income per capita. Data were analyzed by simple regression analysis. Results showed that total income of household farmer were IDR 136,660,000 with the average of IDR 3,333,171 per household farmer per month. Total chicken meat, pork and egg consumptions were 58.5 kg, 27.5 kg and 17.4 kg per month, respectively. Average investment to consume meat and eggs were IDR 122,195 or 3.67 percents of the family income. Average meat consumption at West Siau district were 7.72 kg per capita per year, consisted of chicken meat and pork of 4.84 kg and 2.88 kg per capita per year, respectively. Average of egg consumption were 1.49 kg per capita per year. Therefore, income of the family significantly affected meat and egg consumption in West Siau district of the Siau Tagulandang Biaro regency.   Keywords:  Income, meat and egg   consumption, Siau district.

Abstract

THE DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL OF LAYER POULTRY IN WEST HALMAHERA REGENCY.The objective of this study was to analyse the potential and constraints and strategic priority of laying hen development. Respondents were chosen purposively involving farmers, policy makers and related stakeholders. Breeders weregenerally in their productive age with medium education levels, the breeders who were not been trained and the breeders who had no breeding experience. Majority of breeders had the profession as farmers. The ownership status of the farm business belongs to both group and private, and most of them made their livestock business as a sideline to add their income. Management of cultivation wasnot done properly so that the population fluctuated, and productivity was very low. The main strength was business capital support from local government and egg marketing was relatively easy. The main weakness was the lack of information. The main opportunity was the government policy supporting the livestock industry in conducive situation and the biggest threat was the price of feed tending to fluctuate. The alternative strategy achieved were increasing the market share to achieve market leader position through local government policy, improving the quality of human resources through mentoring and assistance to increase productivity, providing livestock production facilities, especially feed in the area by utilizing available local raw materials, and establishing cooperation through partnership between farmers and the private company. Based on QSPM analysis, the priority of strategy chosen was to establish cooperation through partnership between breeder and private sector / Animal Husbandry Company with the highest total TAS value of 5,353. Keywords: layerdevelopment strategy, West Halmahera regency potential.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui level penggunaan santan terhadap sifat kimia dari produk abon berbahan baku daging ayam pelur afkir. Materi penelitian terdiri dari daging ayam petelur afkir, santan kelapa, bumbu pembuatan abon. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan perakuan penambahan santan kelapa yang terdiri dari p1 150 mL, p2 200 ml, p3 250 mL, dan p4 300 mL dengan komposisi daging untuk setiap perlakuan sebanyak 300 g. Setiap perlakuan masing-masing diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Variabel yang diamati adalah kadar air, protein, lemak dan kolestrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa penambahan santan kelapa memberikan pengaruh yang berbeda tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap nilai kadar air, protein dan kolestrol, tetapi terhadap nilai lemak menunjukan pengaruh yang berbeda nyata (P<0,05). Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan pembahasan dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan santan kelapa sampai pada 150 - 300 mL dengan komposis daging 300 g sudah dapat mempertahankan kandungan nutrien terdiri dari kadar air, protein, lemak dan kolestrol produk ayam petelur afkir.Kata Kunci : abon, daging ayam afkir, santan kelapa.
