Abstract

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is still the leading cause of death globally and nationally and is closely related to various cardiometabolic and behavioral risk factors. This study aims to analyze the characteristics and risk factors related to the incidence of CHD at Royal Prima Hospital for the January-December 2024 period. The research design used an observational analytical study with a medical record-based case-control approach, involving 120 respondents (60 CHD cases and 60 non-CHD cases) who were selected by consecutive sampling. Independent variables included age, gender, hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, obesity, and smoking history. Data analysis was carried out in univariate, bivariate (Chi-Square test), and multivariate (binary logistics regression). The results showed that all risk factors were significantly related to the incidence of CHD in bivariate analysis (p < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that age ?45 years, dyslipidemia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking history, and male sex had a significant effect on CHD, with age ?45 years as the most dominant factor, while obesity had no independent effect. These findings confirm the importance of controlling the main risk factors in the prevention of CHD in health care facilities.

Abstract

Cervical infection or cervicitis is an inflammation of the cervical epithelium that can progress to chronicity and potentially lead to cervical cancer. Lactobacillus crispatus, which is normal vaginal flora, can migrate to the cervix and cause inflammation. Mandailing arabica coffee (Coffea arabica L.) is rich in phenolic compounds and antioxidant activity, with antibacterial potential. This research aims to assess the effect of Mandailing arabica coffee (Coffea arabica L.) extract on the growth of Lactobacillus crispatus as an effort to reduce the progression of cervicovaginal microbiome biomarkers. This laboratory experimental study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 25%, 50%, and 100% concentrations of Mandailing arabica coffee extract. The antibacterial activity test was carried out by liquid dilution, solid dilution, and disc diffusion methods. Data were analyzed using a one-way ANOVA test followed by the Least Significant Difference post hoc test. Mandailing arabica coffee extract contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and triterpenoids. Liquid and solid dilution tests showed inhibition of Lactobacillus crispatus growth at all extract concentrations. The disc diffusion test produced the greatest average inhibition at 100% concentration (6.62 cm), followed by 50% (5.19 cm), and 25% (4.81 cm). ANOVA analysis showed a significant effect of extract administration on the growth of Lactobacillus crispatus (p < 0.001). Mandailing arabica coffee (Coffea arabica L.) extract has antibacterial activity against Lactobacillus crispatus, with growth inhibition increasing alongside increasing extract concentration. This indicates the potential of Mandailing arabica coffee in preventing cervical inflammation and the progression of precancerous lesions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between the influence of social media use and personal hygiene among adolescents at Amal Luhur Private Junior High School in Medan. The background of this study is based on the increasing use of social media among teenagers, which can affect their health behaviors, including personal hygiene. This research employed a survey design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of all eighth-grade students at Amal Luhur Private Junior High School, with a total sample of 38 respondents selected through total sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire assessing the level of social media use and personal hygiene behavior. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that most respondents had poor personal hygiene (57.9%) and high social media use (52.6%). The statistical test yielded a p-value of 0.043 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between social media use and personal hygiene among adolescents. These findings suggest that higher intensity of uncontrolled and non-educational social media use correlates with lower levels of personal hygiene. Therefore, active involvement from parents and schools is essential in guiding teenagers to use social media positively and educationally to promote clean and healthy living behaviors.

Abstract

Facility location optimization plays a pivotal role across both public and private sectores, with critical application in telecommunication, urban planning, industrial layout, and most notably for logistics and supply chain management. The main objective of a Facility Location Problem (FLP) is to determine the optimal placement of a set of facilities (Regional Distribution Centers) within defined geographical space based on spatial distribution of customer demand points. This strategic decision directly influences operational efficiency, service levels, and overall system cost. In the model presented, key factors such as the proximity of facilities to demand nodes, the volume of products required, transportation expenses, and dissastisfaction cost (i.e., penalties for unmet demand) are explicitly incorporated into the optimization framework. The goal is not only to identify the best facility locations but also to decide which transportation links to activate and how much flow to allocate across them, therefore minimizing total system cost while satisfying demand requirements as effectively as possible. The computational results demonstrate crucial insight. Dissatisfaction costs are increased reflecting higher penalties for failing to meet costumer demand. The model responds by fully satisfying all destinations, even if it entails higher dissatisfaction expenditures and reducing the total cost.

Abstract

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains a major malignancy in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. Variations in histopathological types are suspected to be influenced by carcinogenic risk factors such as smoking, consumption of grilled foods, preserved foods, and alcohol intake. This study aims to analyze differences in the dominant histopathological types of NPC—Keratinizing Squamous Cell Carcinoma (KSCC), Non-Keratinizing Squamous Cell Carcinoma (NKSCC), and Undifferentiated Cell Carcinoma—based on major risk factors in Medan. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design was conducted using 75 eligible medical records of NPC patients (2020–2025) from Royal Prima Ayahanda Hospital Medan and Dr. Pirngadi General Hospital Medan. Data were analyzed using Chi-Square or Fisher’s Exact Test and Odds Ratio. Results indicate that Undifferentiated Cell Carcinoma is the most prevalent type (61.3%), followed by NKSCC (29.3%) and KSCC (9.3%). No significant association was found between smoking, grilled food consumption, preserved food intake, or alcohol use and the histopathological types (p > 0.05). However, a higher risk tendency was observed for preserved food consumption toward KSCC (OR = 6.00) and grilled food consumption toward KSCC (OR = 2.98). These findings provide preliminary insight into how carcinogenic exposures may shape histopathological patterns of NPC and support future prevention and screening strategies in endemic regions.

Abstract

Technological developments have made websites the primary medium for entrepreneurial activities, especially among Generation Z, the largest internet users today. However, among many entrepreneurial websites, not all have succeeded in attracting Generation Z's interest. Websites with monotonous and less attractive displays tend to be abandoned by users, so a creative and relevant User Interface design is needed for Generation Z. This study aims to analyze the influence of creative User Interface design on Generation Z's interest in using entrepreneurial websites, while also producing a website prototype according to the preferences collected. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with a 3D model (Define, Design, Develop) using a questionnaire to identify design elements that suit Generation Z's interests, accompanied by a literature study to strengthen the theory. The results of the study show that Generation Z has a higher interest in creative User Interface designs that comply with the guidelines. Developed prototype has also been designed based on expert validation results, so it is considered capable of attracting user interest. This study proves that the application of creative User Interface design influences Generation Z's interest in using an entrepreneurial website.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of cranberry extract on Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) levels and renal histopathological improvement in a rat model of pyelonephritis. Seven treatment groups were used, including a sham group, a negative control, a positive control (ciprofloxacin), and cranberry extract groups at doses of 100, 200, 300, and 400 mg/kgBW. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis test followed by an all-pairwise comparison. The results showed a significant difference in VEGF levels among the groups (p = 0.046), with notably higher VEGF expression in the 300 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW cranberry groups compared to the negative control. Histopathological analysis revealed reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and improved tubular structure in the high-dose cranberry groups. These effects are associated with the bioactive compounds of cranberry, particularly proanthocyanidins and flavonoids, which exhibit anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and angiogenic activities by enhancing VEGF expression. In conclusion, cranberry extract at doses of 300 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW demonstrates strong potential as a natural nephroprotective agent that accelerates renal tissue healing in pyelonephritis. These findings support the use of cranberry extract as an adjuvant therapy to complement conventional treatment for urinary tract infections

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of sustainable tourism management at Prambanan Temple, focusing on the coordination challenges between PT Taman Wisata Candi (TWC) and the Cultural Heritage Preservation Center and Museum (BPK MCB), as well as the implications for economic equity, cultural preservation, and local community welfare. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with pentahelix stakeholders (academics, industry players, communities, government, and media), direct observations, and documentation analysis. The findings reveal that although PT TWC has actively organized various cultural events and empowered local communities through MSME involvement and labor absorption, the economic benefits have not been evenly distributed, and community participation remains limited, particularly in the planning and evaluation stages. Coordination between PT TWC, which is oriented toward tourism utilization, and BPK MCB, which focuses on conservation, faces challenges due to differences in priorities, lack of structured formal meetings, and overlapping regulations at various administrative levels. Cultural preservation efforts are also at risk of over-commercialization that can erode authenticity and cultural values. This study concludes that effective sustainable tourism management requires regulatory synchronization, strengthening local community participation through a community-based tourism approach, fair distribution of economic benefits, and holistic collaboration among all stakeholders to balance tourism utilization, cultural heritage preservation, and local community welfare.

Abstract

This study analyzes the strategic motivations and challenges of Indonesia's foreign policy in its membership process in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) during the administration of President Prabowo Subianto. Indonesia views OECD membership as a crucial step to accelerate the transformation of the national economy towards developed country status by 2045 through the implementation of transparent, inclusive, and sustainable global economic governance standards. Using a qualitative approach based on an integrative literature review, this study applies theories of foreign policy analysis and rational decision-making to understand the political, economic, and strategic considerations that shape Indonesia's decision. The findings indicate that the "Prabowonomics" economic model—which emphasizes economic independence, equitable distribution of wealth, strengthening industry, and sustainable development—demonstrates strong alignment with OECD norms and objectives. Consequently, OECD membership is expected to be a key lever for increasing foreign direct investment, facilitating technology transfer, supporting structural reform efforts, and enhancing Indonesia's global competitiveness. Despite these potential benefits, the OECD membership process presents significant challenges, including the need to comply with stringent OECD regulatory standards, the potential loss of preferential trade facilities such as the United States' Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), and complex diplomatic maneuvering as Indonesia navigates its simultaneous involvement in both the BRICS and OECD frameworks. This study emphasizes the importance of domestic policy adjustments, institutional readiness, and strengthened stakeholder coordination for Indonesia to fully maximize the benefits of OECD membership. These efforts are essential to support the broader national agenda and realize the long-term vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

Abstract

Human trafficking is a complex transnational crime with widespread impacts on human dignity and worth. In Indonesia, efforts to eradicate TIP are regulated by Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of TIP, which serves as the lex specialis for handling this case. However, reality shows that law enforcement practices regarding TIP still face various challenges. This study aims to analyze the challenges of TIP law enforcement in Indonesia and propose solutions from a criminal law perspective. The method used is normative-juridical legal research. The analysis shows that law enforcement efforts regarding TIP need to be strengthened through the application of maximum criminal sanctions, comprehensive protection for victims, increased capacity of officers, the use of digital technology in investigations, and strengthened international cooperation. With these steps, it is hoped that TIP law enforcement in Indonesia can be more effective in preventing, prosecuting, and breaking the chain of human trafficking crimes.
