Abstract

Shipping safety is a fundamental aspect of connectivity in the Maluku archipelago. However, the high rate of maritime accidents caused by unseaworthiness factors such as overloading and the absence of safety equipment indicates weaknesses in the current legal liability system, which tends to focus solely on individual shipmasters (captains). This study aims to analyze the urgency and mechanism of applying the principle of strict liability to shipping corporations that operate unseaworthy vessels within the working area of the Class I Port Authority and Office (KSOP) Ambon. The research method employed was normative juridical, utilizing statutory and conceptual approaches. The results indicate that operating an unseaworthy vessel is a type of regulatory offense that carries significant risks to public safety, therefore, the requirement to prove criminal intent (mens rea), which is often difficult to establish within corporate structures, can be waived. Under the strict liability principle, corporations can be held criminally liable based on objective evidence of violating seaworthiness standards (actus reus). Geographic challenges in Maluku, where only 24 out of 75 ports have permanent officers, reinforce the need for a firm legal doctrine to create a deterrent effect for shipowners. This study concludes that the explicit application of strict liability in maritime regulations will encourage corporations to systemically improve safety standards and ensure legal certainty for the public utilizing sea transportation services.

Abstract

This research conducts an in-depth examination of the relationship between Indonesia's four fundamental state consensuses Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution (UUD 1945), Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) within the Wawasan Nusantara framework in the implementation of an independent-active foreign policy amidst increasingly complex and multipolar global geopolitical dynamics. This research employed a normative-strategic analytical approach integrated with Kenneth Waltz's Domestic Level of Analysis and middle power diplomacy conceptualization. Using literature study, the research finds that Pancasila as the ideological foundation functions as an ideological filter providing humanistic value orientation alongside a normative conflict resolution mechanism in diplomatic decision-making. Furthermore, the 1945 Constitution affirms the constitutional mandate of the independent-active principle, which in the multipolar era must be operationalized as strategic autonomy, namely Indonesia's capacity to maintain strategic maneuverability between major powers. Additionally, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika promotes an inclusive diplomatic approach that positions Indonesia as a unique bridging actor between the Islamic world, Asian democracy, and the global community. Finally, NKRI through Wawasan Nusantara shapes a maritime geopolitical identity that forms the basis for Indonesia's legitimate interest claims in the Indo-Pacific region. This study identifies five critical geopolitical arenas the South China Sea dispute, Indo-Pacific rivalry, Middle East conflict, Myanmar crisis, and post-COVID-19 global governance and analyzes how fundamental state consensuses provide normative guidance across each. The original contribution lies in developing the Pancasila-Geopolitics Framework (PGF), a new analytical model that systematically connects domestic ideological foundations with Indonesia's foreign policy behavior.

Abstract

Bureaucratic reform requires professional and adaptive management of the state civil apparatus (ASN). One of the strategic instruments developed by the government is talent management to ensure the placement of employees according to potential, competence, and performance. This study aims to analyze the implementation of talent management at the Cirebon Regency Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM), identify obstacles to its implementation, and examine efforts made to improve the professionalism of ASN. The theoretical framework of the research refers to the concept of talent management (Collings & Mellahi; Armstrong & Taylor), the Gallardo-Gallardo dimension of talent (natural ability, mastery, commitment, fit), as well as the subject's approach. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies of purposively selected key informants and supporters. The results of the study show that talent management in the Cirebon Regency BKPSDM has been implemented in stages through competency and potential assessments, ASN profile mapping, and the implementation of a nine-box matrix. However, its implementation has not been optimal due to the limitations of assessors, political intervention, low digital literacy, and a work culture that is not yet performance-oriented. Improvement efforts are carried out through strengthening socialization, consistency in the implementation of the merit system, infrastructure development, and changes in work culture. It was concluded that talent management has the potential to significantly improve the professionalism of ASN, but it requires leadership commitment and sustainable institutional strengthening.

Abstract

Uranium poses occupational and environmental risks due to its toxicity and radioactivity. A proven correlation exists between uranium exposure, including radon progeny, and lung cancer in miners. Molecular epidemiology using high-throughput omics has advanced our understanding of these effects, revealing high somatic mutations in p53 and oncogenes, dysfunctions in the DNA repair pathway, and changes in DNA methylation, including global hypomethylation and hypermethylation of genes such as RASSF1A and CDKN2A. MicroRNAs like miR-21, miR-34A, and miR-155 are involved. Metabolomics shows altered lipid metabolism, amino acid turnover, and oxidative stress markers. Integrated omics analyses link molecular changes to apoptosis, mitochondrial dysfunction, and alterations in energy metabolism. Biomarkers such as micronuclei and chromosomal aberrations are associated with exposure and cancer risk. Human studies face challenges like small sample sizes and varied exposure assessment, but multi-omics molecular epidemiology offers significant potential for improved risk assessment and prevention.

Abstract

The nutrient Zn plays an important role as a cofactor of many types of enzymes related to carbohydrate metabolism, protein metabolism, auxin metabolism, pollen formation, integrity maintenance, biological membrane and resistance to certain pathogens so that its robustness can inhibit plant growth and production. The sufficient availability of Zn in plants has a positive effect on increasing the efficiency of photosynthesis, one of which is through the important role of the enzyme Carbonate Anhydrase. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of Zn micronutrients given through seed priming and foliar spray on several varieties of sorghum carried out on the Ultisol sour dry land in Central Lampung. The trial was carried out in May - September 2024 using a three-replication factorial group random design (RAK). The first factor is the type of sorghum varieties, namely Numbu, Samurai 2, Super 2, and Suri 1. While the second factor is Zn treatment in the form of: control, ZnSO4.7H2O 0.5% seed priming application, ZnSO4.7H2O 0.5% seed priming and foliar spray application in the vegetative phase, ZnSO4.7H2O seed priming and foliar spray application 0.5% in the generative phase and seed priming and foliar spray ZnSO4.7H2O 0.5% application in the vegetative + generative phase. The results of the study showed that the difference in varieties had a real effect on vegetative growth and leaf growth. Micronutrient Zn has a significant impact on increasing plant height, leaf width, greenness/chlorophyll level of leaves and seed yield per plant.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the problem-solving ability of students in grade VIII.E SMP Negeri 1 Sewon through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. Carried out in three cycles, the results showed an increase in students' average scores from 48% in the pretest to 77% in Cycle III, meeting the target. PBL is effective in improving students' critical thinking, collaboration, and motivation skills. Obstacles faced include lack of student focus and time management. Suggested follow-up includes the development of interactive methods and improved guidance.

Abstract

This research examines how pricing strategies impact on brand image and willingness to pay. The author uses the sofa as major contributor to business and chooses the top five sofa types with Marvin, Evita, Leo, Korus, and Dallas. The study addresses three research questions (1) What is the effective pricing strategy based on PED analysis? (2) Does pricing strategy have an impact on customer willingness to pay? And (3) How does Caledon’s pricing strategy affect its premium brand image?. Triangulation analysis across three methodologies, Price Elasticity of Demand (PED) using transactional data from December 2023 to July 2025, PLS-SEM with survey data from 140 respondents, and descriptive analysis of customer demographics and behavior, strongly supports the development of robust business case solution. Integrated results demonstrate that pricing strategies effectively segment products under PED analysis. However, the connection between pricing strategy and willingness to pay is weak, with a p-value 0,065 and T-statistics 1.847, higher than T-table value of 1.657. Similarly, the relationship of brand image to willingness to pay was also rejected with a p-value 0,114 and 1.581 T-statistics. Only tpricing strategy has a positive effect on brand image with Path Coefficient = 0.839, T-statistics = 35.610, and p-values <0.001. This mark that pricing strategy powerfully signals only for building brand image perceptions, without directly influencing willingness to pay

Abstract

This study examines family communication functioning among Generation Z families in the digital era by exploring how communication patterns and family functioning are negotiated in everyday family life. Drawing on the McMaster Model of Family Functioning and Family Communication Patterns Theory, this study employs a qualitative design to capture the lived experiences of Generation Z. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with ten informants and analyzed using thematic analysis through data reduction, open coding, axial coding, and theme development. The findings show that family communication among Generation Z is characterized by a hybrid pattern integrating dialogic interaction with hierarchical family structures. While Generation Z members are given space to express opinions, key family decisions remain under parental authority. Communication functions effectively for coordination, problem solving, and role negotiation, while emotional expression is selective and context-dependent. Affective involvement and emotional responsiveness are often conveyed through instrumental rather than verbal support. Digital media, especially instant messaging, plays a central role in maintaining family connectedness while shaping emotional boundaries and behavioral control. This study proposes a contextual model of family communication functioning that balances dialogic space, clear role structures, adaptive emotional engagement, and strategic digital communication, contributing to the extension of family communication theory in digitally mediated family contexts.

Abstract

In light of the rising incidence of natural disasters, it is crucial to ensure that all buildings, particularly those serving public functions, are capable of withstanding a range of potential loads. This study examines the structural integrity of the Pasar Minggu Subdistrict Health Center in South Jakarta through analysis using ETABS software, deriving internal forces from the facility's working drawings in alignment with the requirements of SNI 2847:2019, SNI 1726:2019, and SNI 1727:2020. Employing a quantitative methodology via ETABS V18.1.1, the analysis incorporates primary data gathered from on-site measurements alongside secondary data sourced from relevant literature and established design standards. Key steps encompass structural modeling, load determination, and an assessment of the capacity of critical components, including columns, beams, and slabs. The findings indicate that the majority of the building's structural elements satisfy the prescribed strength criteria. Nonetheless, columns K4 on the Dak floor and K6 on the Dak staircase and terrace at the first-floor level fall short of the Weak Beam-Column Strength (SBLB) requirements, underscoring the necessity for targeted design enhancements and reinforcement measures. These outcomes underscore the value of thorough structural evaluations in architectural planning. The study further offers guidance on refinements to bolster the structure's safety and longevity, while stressing adherence to prevailing regulations in infrastructure projects.

Abstract

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) is a group of inherited genetic disorders that affect the adrenal glands, which produce essential hormones such as cortisol, aldosterone, and sex steroids. The most common form of CAH is caused by a 21-hydroxylase enzyme deficiency resulting from mutations in the CYP21A2 gene. This deficiency disrupts normal cortisol and aldosterone production, leading to excessive androgen synthesis and a range of clinical manifestations, including ambiguous genitalia in females and adrenal crisis in both sexes. Current biomarkers, such as 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP), androstenedione, and testosterone, have limitations, and further research on 11-oxygenated androgens—which are more specific for CAH—is needed. Non-invasive methods, such as measuring steroids in saliva and urine, are increasingly accessible and useful, particularly for children showing signs of hyperandrogenism.
