Abstract

The objectives of the research are to describe the improvement of students’ ability in writing narrative text through sequence pictures as a learning media. This research focuses on two problem statements: how does the use of sequence pictures as a learning medium enhance students' ability to write narrative texts? What is the reaction of the third-year students at Public Middle School 1 Sampaga to the use of sequence pictures as a learning medium? The study also seeks to understand the students' reactions to the use of sequence pictures as a learning tool. The researcher conducted a classroom action research study that consists of two cycles. The research findings revealed that the students' proficiency in narrative writing remained low. The students’ class mean score in the pre-cycle is 43.24. After giving sequence pictures as a learning media in the first cycle, the class mean score improved to 59.68. Then, in the second cycle, the class mean score improved to 76.96. It could be concluded that the third-year students at Public Middle School 1 Sampaga, especially in class IX D, have a skill to make excellent content, organization, and vocabulary using writing narrative text after applying sequence pictures as a teaching media.

Abstract

This literature review examines the role of working memory capacity (WMC) in second language acquisition (SLA) and explores potential solutions for learners with low WMC. Research shows that students with higher WMC perform better in vocabulary learning, oral fluency, and grammar. However, few studies offer strategies to help learners with lower WMC. The review highlights N-back tasks as a promising tool for improving working memory. Studies show that N-back training can enhance memory capacity but requires consistent practice for visible results. The researcher suggests incorporating N-back tasks to help students with low WMC improve their language learning skills.

Abstract

The study examined the socio-demographic profile of the octogenarians in Nigeria from an educational perspective. We adopted a cross-sectional research survey design. All octogenarians in Nigeria constituted the study population. A multi-stage procedure selected a sample of 1,774 individuals. We adopted a snowball sampling approach to select participants until we reached the desired sample size. An adapted version of the World Health Organization's (WHOQOL) questionnaire programmed in the Open Data Kit (ODK) was used for data collection. We analyzed the collected data using frequency counts and simple percentages. The mean age of octogenarians was 83 years. Male-headed households were most common (66.2%) among octogenarians. Vision (8.6%) and mobility (12.1%) issues were the types of disability common to octogenarians in Nigeria. Fewer Nigerian octogenarians are still flourishing and making productive contributions to society, but a greater proportion of them need social and educational supports and physical health needs for better well-being.

Abstract

This study's objective is to determine the effect of the use of Electronic Student Worksheets (E-SW) based on Quizizz on student learning achievement. The type of research used in this study is quantitative, and it uses an experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. Where in this research design, students are given a pre-test first to determine students' initial knowledge, and the last is provided a post-test. The study's population was 87 students from grade X at Public Vocational School 1 Bulango Selatan. The research sample was chosen at random from two grades: grade X Askep B was used as an experimental grade to test E-SW based on Quizizz, and grade X Askep A was used as a control grade to compare how E-SW and textbooks are used. The findings showed that in the inferential analysis, pretest-posttest, both sets of data are normally distributed and homogeneous. This led to the covariance test (ANCOVA), which showed that H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. So the results of this study show that student learning achievement are higher after being taught using E-SW based on Quizizz compared to using regular student worksheets. This means that using electronic student worksheets based on Quizizz has a positive influence on students' mathematics learning achievement.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine if a problem-based learning model integrated with audiovisual media can improve the learning outcomes of basketball dribbling techniques in public high school students. This type of research is classroom action research, which is carried out during two learning cycles consisting of four stages: planning, implementation of action, observation, and reflection. The sample in this study was 36 students in class X.I of public high school 16 Makassar. The study employed the purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was a test of basketball dribbling technique ability. The data analysis technique used quantitatively is descriptive methods by finding the average and relative frequency percentage and qualitatively using observation methods. The results of the study showed that in the pre-cycle, 8 students completed it with a percentage of 22%, and 28 students did not complete it with a percentage of 78%. In Cycle I, students who completed the study increased to 27 students with a percentage of 75%, and 9 students did not complete the study with a percentage of 25%. In Cycle II, there was a significant increase in learning outcomes, namely students who completed became 36 students with a percentage of 100% and did not complete 0 students with a percentage of 0%. Abstract

This study's objective is to analyze the cultural values and uniqueness of the form and structure of this dance as a representation of the identity of the Mandar community in the field of education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical research method. Data collection techniques include questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. We analyzed the data using qualitative analysis techniques. The results of the study indicate that the Pattuqduq Kumba Dance contains religious values, as seen from its role in traditional rituals that symbolize gratitude to God and respect for ancestors. The value of togetherness is reflected in the simultaneous movements of the dancers, which strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation and social relations. In addition, the educational value in this dance functions as a medium for cultural education for the younger generation, teaching the preservation of tradition and understanding the symbolism of movement. The beauty of this dance lies in the harmony between movement, traditional music, and typical costumes that reflect the refinement of the art of the Mandar community. The structure of the dance, which is divided into three parts—opening, content, and closing—as well as the use of traditional properties such as fans and scarves, adds to the uniqueness and richness of its meaning. This study confirms that the Pattuqduq Kumba Dance is not only a performing art but also a symbol of life, local wisdom, and the close relationship between humans and nature, and it acts as a medium of education. This dance is an important medium for preserving culture and a means of strengthening the identity of the Mandar people amidst the challenges of modernization and is the basis for strengthening the curriculum, especially arts education.

Abstract

This study aims to document and analyze the form of woven fabric motifs produced in Sula'a Weaving Village, with the goal of contributing to the development of local culture-based art education. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with direct observation methods, in-depth interviews, and visual documentation. The analysis technique involves data reduction, data presentation in narrative and visualization forms, and drawing conclusions based on field findings. The study's findings show that geometric patterns and plant and animal patterns on woven fabrics have meanings that are related to tradition and social class. These meanings are aesthetic, educational, and symbolic. Motifs such as horizontal lines and checkered patterns reflect harmony, loyalty, responsibility, and relationships with nature. This research also found that traditional patterns have changed over time to use geometric ideas like shifting, mirroring, and rotation to make them look better without losing the original culture's features. It also suggests ways to bring back traditions by using these patterns in the creative and tourism industries. The study's findings show that woven fabrics should be kept as a cultural heritage and that people should value local cultural goods more, even as they become more modern. This can help with the growth of arts education that is based on local culture. In addition, the results of this study can be a medium for learning, local wisdom, and character building of students in schools.
