Abstract

Educators in Asian classrooms encounter significant challenges in supporting students from linguistically diverse backgrounds. These challenges are rooted in the need to navigate complex layers of language and culture, as well as deeply ingrained communication customs shaped since early childhood. One promising pedagogical approach is translanguaging, which encourages students to draw on their full linguistic repertoire to enhance learning. However, limited research has explored how translanguaging is implemented in real-world classroom settings across Asia. This study conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) of full-text and peer-reviewed publications from 2021 to 2025, sourced from reputable academic databases including ERIC, ScienceDirect, Sage Open, Taylor & Francis, and ProQuest. A total of 36 journal articles were examined for common themes, perceived benefits, and implementation issues associated with translanguaging procedures. The findings show that translanguaging can increase student engagement, improve comprehension, and validate learners’ linguistic identities. However, dominant monolingual ideology, inadequate teacher training, and restrictive institutional regulations impede widespread acceptance. This study finds that translanguaging has a significant potential to promote more inclusive and successful multilingual education in Asian environments. It suggests that teacher education programs and institutional frameworks may incorporate translanguaging into ordinary classroom practice.

Abstract

Listening, once perceived as the least important language skill, has gained increasing attention recently, as shown by the growing number of studies in the field. However, research on listening comprehension strategies remains limited. This study reviews the most frequently used teaching and learning strategies in Asian classrooms to enhance listening comprehension and identify research gaps for future exploration. A systematic literature review was conducted on studies published between 2021 and 2025 across eight Asian countries: China, Iran, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. Findings reveal that the most common teaching strategy is the use of regular and repetitive listening activities, while metacognitive strategies emerge as the most frequently practiced learning approach. Moreover, the review highlights a notable imbalance between the number of strategies examined under learning strategies versus teaching strategies. These results emphasize the need for further research across Asia, particularly studies that design and test innovative strategies aligned with the growing demand for technology-driven and digitally enhanced language instruction.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping how individuals, institutions, and nations interact with knowledge and information. Beyond its promise to revolutionize decision-making and productivity, artificial intelligence (AI) presents difficult problems for intellectual security, which protects knowledge integrity, autonomous thought, and freedom from manipulation. The problem is made much more urgent in Nigeria, where there is a disparity in digital literacy and AI policy frameworks are still developing. Therefore, this study explored strategies for balanced AI use, highlighting the importance of strong ethical frameworks, legal limitations, and public education campaigns. The study adopted a convergent parallel mixed-method design, combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews for triangulation. Surveys and interviews were conducted with 300 respondents and 15 key informants across Osun, Lagos, and Abuja with the help of three research assistants. A structured questionnaire and semi-structured interview guide were used to collect information from the respondents. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the qualitative data were analyzed thematically using NVivo 12 software. Results showed strong perceptions of AI’s benefits in information access and productivity but also concerns over misinformation and data manipulation. It was concluded that AI is a reflection of its design and is neither good nor harmful. This research is significant because it provides a balanced inquiry into AI’s benefits and risks, offering evidence-based insights to guide policymakers, educators, and society in navigating an AI-driven future. It alsoenriches debates in AI ethics and digital sociology by framing AI as both a cognitive enabler and a potential manipulator.

Abstract

Effective learning in elementary education is key to creating a generation capable of competing in the global era. Various methods, including student-centered learning, the use of technology in learning, project-based learning, and differentiated learning approaches, have been shown to increase student engagement, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving. Therefore, this study aims to analyze various effective learning methods through a conceptual literature review. Using a literature review or library research approach, this study collects and analyzes various relevant sources to understand the concepts and applications of learning methods. This research finding demonstrates that effective learning methods are crucial for improving the quality of learning and achieving educational goals. This research identifies various learning methods in education: lecture method, discussion method, demonstration method, experimental method, field trip method, practice method, simulation method, debate method, mind mapping method, discovery method, and problem-solving method. This research demonstrates that each learning method has advantages and disadvantages, and therefore, it is important to select and use them appropriately according to the context and learning objectives. Many aspects related to learning methods still require further research, such as the development of more effective and contextual learning methods. However, challenges such as unequal access to technology and teacher readiness need to be addressed to ensure that every student has optimal learning opportunities. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of more effective and innovative learning practices.

Abstract

This study goal is efforts to improve passing learning outcomes in football games through the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model for elementary school students. This type of research is classroom action research (CAR). This research was conducted in Grade VI. The study involved a student from Islamic Elementary School Minasa Upa, with a sample consisting of 24 individuals. The data collection technique used the basic locomotor movement test. The findings of the study indicate that in cycle I, the passing learning outcomes for grade VI were assessed. The students of Islamic Elementary School Minasa Upa Makassar were 13 students (46%) on a complete scale and 11 students (54%) on an incomplete scale. While there were 20, or 83%, of students in the minimum completion criteria (complete) category, those who did not complete were 4, or 17%, of students out of 24 students in total. At the second meeting of cycle II, it was found that 83% of the students, or 20 out of 24, achieved a score of ≥ 75. This indicates a significant increase in learning outcomes for passing the ball using the Teams Games Tournament model in the soccer game for class V. The study was conducted at an Islamic elementary school located in Minasa Upa.

Abstract

The background of this research stems from the need for a more active and student-centered learning approach to increase engagement, creativity, and understanding of color concepts, especially primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. This study aims to evaluate the application of the guided inquiry learning method in creating color compositions in the Arts and Culture (Fine Arts) subject in junior high schools in Takalar Regency. The methodology used in this study is an evaluative method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results of the study indicate that the application of the guided inquiry method significantly improves students' understanding of the concept of color and their ability to create color compositions independently and creatively. In addition, this method also encourages the students' active involvement, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. Although it requires more time and effective classroom management, this method has proven relevant and effective for application in fine arts learning at the junior high school level.

Abstract

There is an urgent need to enhance the professionalism of teachers, especially in Islamic boarding schools, to effectively tackle the challenges of modern education without compromising traditional Islamic values. Although teacher training evaluations have been widely conducted, gaps remain in the evaluation of the provision for new graduates before serving. The goal of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the teacher service training program at Islamic Boarding School using the Kirkpatrick evaluation model approach. This study uses a qualitative approach with an evaluation type of Kirkpatrick evaluation model that refers to two initial levels: reaction and learning. This research was conducted at the As'adiyah Sengkang Islamic Boarding School. Data were obtained through interviews, observations, documentation, and FGDs with participants, facilitators, and program managers. The evaluation results show that at the reaction level, participants gave very positive responses to the relevance of the material, teaching methods, the quality of the facilitators, and the learning environment. Meanwhile, at the learning level, there was a significant increase in participants' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor competencies, including the ability to integrate As'adiyah values into learning practices. These findings indicate that the training program has succeeded in forming prospective teachers who are not only technically skilled but also have character. Recommendations based on the evaluation results include the need for continued development, improved technological facilities, and further evaluation at the behavioral and outcome levels to measure long-term impact.

Abstract

Religious moderation is a moderate view on religion. The government has made religious moderation a national policy to organize and harmonize Indonesia's heterogeneous religious life. Educational institutions are key to strengthening this program. Evaluation is necessary to make educational religious moderation initiatives more quantitative and targeted. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of the religious moderation program at the public high school. This study uses a qualitative approach with the CIPP evaluation model. This research was conducted at the Public High School 7 Wajo. Data collection was carried out using interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques used the interactive model from Miles and Huberman. The techniques used for checking data validity included triangulation methods. The findings indicate that Public High School 7 Wajo is effectively implementing religious moderation in a comprehensive way, as seen in their Education Unit Curriculum document, regular classes, extracurricular activities, daily practices, school policies, and interfaith student groups. The CIPP evaluation shows that the program is going well and should be continued with improvements. The evaluation results indicate that the program has run well: a clear legal basis, program objectives that meet program recipients' needs, principal support, cooperation with the Wajo Regency Interfaith Harmony Forum, utilizing opportunities to become advantages, ignoring obstacles so that program implementation runs continuously and sustainably, and successfully forming moderate student character.

Abstract

The necessity to assess the halaqah religious study program's impact on Islamic boarding school students' religious character, discipline, and responsibility prompted this research. Despite the program's long history, there has been no systematic examination of its fit with the madrasah's vision and objective and its impact on student character development. This study intends to evaluate the halaqah religious study program using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model, focusing on program suitability, implementation, and character development outcomes. The research method used was qualitative, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. Research informants included the madrasah principal, supervising teachers, students, parents, committee administrators, and alumni in the Madrasah Tsanawiyah As'adiyah Puteri Pusat Sengkang. The evaluation results indicated that the halaqah program follows the madrasah's vision and mission and consistently develops Islamic character. Competent and experienced supervisors, supporting infrastructure, and different recitation methods help the program succeed. Students' good attitudes and religious conduct rise with positive parent and student reactions. Madrasas should raise the frequency and quality of halaqah (Islamic gatherings), teacher training, and stakeholder support for program sustainability based on these findings. This study focused on one madrasah and used qualitative methods; hence, a larger study using mixed approaches is necessary for more comprehensive results.

Abstract

This study intends to improve student learning outcomes in dribbling skills in soccer games through the implementation of the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) cooperative learning model. This study used a classroom action research method with 24 fifth-grade students of Elim Christian Elementary School Makassar as research subjects. Data were collected through learning outcomes tests covering cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. The research instruments were observation sheets, skills tests, and assessment rubrics. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and quantitatively by comparing learning outcomes in pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II conditions. The findings of the study are that all learning areas improved significantly. In pre-cycle conditions, the cognitive aspect averaged 58.75, the affective 62.08, and the psychomotor 55.42, with a 16.70% completion rate (4 out of 24 students). The average score increased to 72.92 for cognitive, 75.83 for affective, and 71.25 for psychomotor after STAD was implemented in cycle I, and the completion rate increased to 54.20%–62.50% (13–15 students). In cycle II, learning outcomes were ideal, with an average score of 84.58 for cognitive, 86.25 for emotional, and 83.75 for psychomotor, and a 100% completion rate (24 students). The average score increased 44.55% from pre-cycle to cycle II (58.75 to 84.86). Elim Makassar Christian Elementary School grade V pupils' dribbling skills have improved greatly with STAD cooperative learning. Students' conceptual knowledge, learning attitudes and motivation, and motor skills improved dramatically using this strategy. This study suggests using the STAD model to improve primary school physical education dribbling skills.
