Abstract

The library plays a crucial role in assisting patrons in accessing the knowledge they need. The library needs to ensure that its collections and services are easily accessible and utilizable by patrons. One way to enhance the accessibility of the library, both in terms of services and collections, is by implementing graphic design. This article explores the implementation of graphic design in the INSTIPER Yogyakarta Library using a qualitative descriptive method, with observation and literature review as data collection methods. Based on data processing results, the researcher identified four library activities that utilize graphic design: 1. Signage design and library information production; 2. Development of teaching materials for faculty members; 3. Development of realia collections and arboretum; 4. Publishing. The graphic design products produced by the library are disseminated through various media, ranging from traditional notice boards, computer screens, social media, to the Learning Management System (LMS). The results of these graphic design products are also used for various purposes, including location navigation, branding, educational materials, promotion, and information reformatting.

Abstract

The Library Free Certificate (SKBP) is a graduation requirement that is applied in many universities, one of which is the Andalas University Library. To make it easier for students to get SKBP, the library has used the Bebas Pustaka Mandiri Application. This application is web-based and can be accessed online. Its development applies the interoperability model by integrating it with other related applications, namely: the Library Catalog Information System, and Graduation Information System. This application allows students to propose the issuance of SKBP independently without the need to come to the library. This study aims to test the performance and measure the benefits of implementing the Aplikasi Mandiri in overcoming various problems in SKBP management. The method used is descriptive qualitative, and data collection is done through direct observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the application of the concept of interoperability utilizing web service technology has succeeded in supporting the process of exchanging and sharing data between the applications involved properly and smoothly. This study concludes that the use of the Aplikasi Mandiri in managing SKBP has succeeded in shortening the issuance time of SKBP and cutting bureaucratic lines in the library. The time efficiency offered contributes to increasing the productivity of students and officers involved.

Abstract

Services provided by the library need to be evaluated by users to improve their quality. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of users and the use of guidance services using reference sources at the Library of the Faculty of Geography, Gadjah Mada University, in August 2020-December 2022. These characteristics include service users, guidance themes, and reference sources used in guidance services. The quantitative descriptive method is used to answer research questions. The study results show that users of this service are dominated by student users, lecturers and education staff. Students who use this service are predominantly doctoral (S3) students. The most needed guidance themes are indexing databases, e-journals, and e-books. The next theme is using several applications, accessing library websites, using academic profiles, accessing journal websites, how to get ISBNs, identification of journals, and instructions for preparing scientific papers. The most widely used reference sources in guidance services are indexing databases (Scopus, Sinta, Garuda, and Directory Open Access Journal) and e-journal databases. Guidance on the use of applications needed is Mendeley, Turnitin, Grammarly, and VOSviewer applications. Users of guidance services on the use of reference sources need specific and in-depth guidance on reference sources, research support applications, library websites, academic profiles to increase knowledge dissemination, access to journal websites to submit articles, how to get International Standard Book Numbers, identify journals so they do not trap in predatory journals as well as guidance on writing scientific papers.

Abstract

Animals that have the potential to produce meat that can be developed are Bali cattle. Unlike imported cattle, Bali cattle are superior because they can withstand all weather and adapt easily. Research on Bali cattle is quite a lot. However, we do not yet know the direction and status of the research. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct a study of the research that has been carried out. The research data comes from secondary data, namely scientific journal articles and proceedings articles. Data publication year is limited to June 2023. Data is tracked using Publish or Perish software. The data obtained was processed using Zotero, MS-Excel and VOSviewer software. There were 983 studies found, with the highest number of animal feed and nutrition, with 190 studies (19.31%). The most productive researcher is Jakaria (49 titles). The number of Bali cattle studies each year varies greatly with the highest number occurring in 2020 (169 studies). It is known that the authorship pattern of the Bali cattle research results article is in accordance with Lotka's law with an exponent value of 2.1 and a constant value of 66%. The researcher collaboration map and research topic map were successfully created using VOSviewer. The degree of author collaboration was 0.91. Related research including animal waste, animal welfare, animal farm and conservation can still be developed because there are not many researches in these fields.

Abstract

The presence of libraries is a familiar and common phenomenon in society, categorized into four types: public, special, school, and university libraries. However, in Indonesia, libraries face challenges, including financial resources, human resource issues, bureaucratic hurdles, physical resource problems, and information resource issues. These challenges have resulted in many libraries not meeting standards, despite guidelines set by the National Library of Indonesia. Libraries, integral to their management processes, often overlook a crucial function—control. This article delves into control as a key management function, addressing the problems encountered by Indonesian libraries. The focus is on control's role in overcoming issues, employing literature study methods and data analysis through observational literature techniques. The results indicate that all four types of libraries need to implement various techniques and analyses, including cost-benefit and return on investment analysis, benchmarking, leadership support, effective collaboration with librarians and technical staff, based on up-to-date information and corrective actions. Additionally, investments in infrastructure, facilities, information technology, digital resources, and information literacy training are essential.
