Abstract

Natural soaps made from vegetable ingredients are increasingly popular nowadays, especially those known as natural soaps. The vegetable oil content of plants makes it called natural) and its advantage lies in its ability to moisturize the skin without leaving potentially harmful chemical residues. The research method used is a laboratory experimental method using descriptive analysis, so that it can provide information regarding the manufacture of solid soap. In this research on making solid soap, a pH test analysis or degree of acidity was carried out. pH is used to determine the alkaline and acidic levels of a solution. Acidity is the concentration of hydrogen ions in the water solvent. Soap that has a high pH occurs due to soap hydrolysis. A good soap pH value is soap that has a pH of around 7. Organoleptic testing on solid soap that has been made is carried out by observing the aroma, amount of foam and texture of the soap. This test aims to determine the quality of the soap that has been made. Making organic solid soap is expected to be able to produce products that are safe and of course comfortable for the skin without any side effects and are environmentally friendly. Soap that has a high pH occurs due to soap hydrolysis.

Abstract

This research is based on problems in science learning, namely students' lack of interest in reading. One way to increase students' reading interest is by using creative, innovative and interactive learning media. Therefore, this research was carried out by developing a product in the form of a Science E-Comic on the theme, let's get to know the human respiratory and excretory organ systems. This research aims to determine the validity, practicality and effectiveness of products in the form of Science E-Comics on the theme, let's get to know the human respiratory and excretory organ systems. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) or development research using the ADDIE model which consists of 5 stages, namely Analyze, design, development, Implementation, and evaluation. Considering the limited time and costs, this research was limited to the implementation stage. The results of the IPA E-Comics validity score of 0.89 are in the very valid category. The practicality of IPA E-Comics obtained an average score of 0.94, which is in the very high category. The effectiveness of IPA E-Comics obtained a fairly large N-Gain score, namely 0.70, which is included in the high category. Based on the research results obtained, it can be concluded that Science E-Comics are declared very valid, very practical and effective in increasing students' reading interest in science learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of Socioscientific Issue (SSI) learning in class VIII science lessons at SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP in the 2022/2023 Academic Year. This study uses a description method by observing the learning that researchers do. Observations were made by three observers who observed the learning process by filling out observation sheets regarding the learning process from the opening, this activity, to the closing of the lesson. The sample of this research was 32 students of class VIII A at SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP. The research data that has been obtained is analyzed in the form of percentages and then described descriptively. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the implementation of Socioscientific Issue (SSI) learning has been carried out well, seen from the implementation carried out by the teacher with a percentage of implementation of 92%, but in practice there are students who are not focused and feel bored in learning so that the expected abilities are not achieved.

Abstract

Learning media, namely acting as a mediator of information between the source (teacher) and the recipient (student), is one of the resources that can assist teachers in offering simpler and more effective learning materials (student). The goal of this study is to identify and evaluate the media that teachers in SMPN 30 Padang and the SMP Development Laboratory at Padang State University use to engage students in the science learning process. Analyzing the information from the learning material employed was another goal of this study. This form of research, which aims to examine the needs of learning media, is qualitative descriptive research. Science instructors from SMPN 30 Padang and SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium in Padang City served as the study's participants. Based on the research data, it is known that there are differences in the use of instructional media between the two schools, where in SMPN 30 Padang the use of instructional media is better than SMP Pembangunan Laboratorium.

Abstract

Based on preliminary studies, the interview that has been done to teachers and students, it was found that the learning process still needs to be optimized because the learning was still centered on the teacher and students were not actively involved in the learning process. From the initial studies through interviews and questionnaires to science teachers and students at SMP 2 Portibi, it was found that science teachers had not used the STEM approach worksheet teaching materials and some students still having difficulty understanding the matter of substance pressure and its application. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) using the 4D model which consists of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Based on data analysis, it was found that the validity and practicality values of the product with an average validity of 0,52 were in the medium category and the average practicality according to the teacher and students respectively was 0,97 and students 0,93 were in the very high category.
