Abstract

One of the important skills for students to improve is critical thinking skills because it can make it easier for students to master the material and apply it in everyday life. However, based on research results, PISA results, and the findings of the Ministry of National Education, it shows that elementary school students' critical thinking skills in science subjects are still low. This is because learning is still teacher-centered and stimulus in the form of appropriate learning media is not used during the learning process. As an alternative to overcome this problem, teachers can use a contextual learning model (Contextual teaching and learning, CTL) with the help of Powerpoint-based 3D animation learning media. In this study, researchers used quantitative methods with experimental research types and Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study were all fifth grade students in Cibogo Village. The sample of this study consisted of 38 students from class V SDN 1 Cibogo and class V SDN Ciburial. Class V at SDN Ciburial was designated as the experimental class and class V at SDN 1 Cibogo as the control class.

Abstract

Metacognition has a role in regulating and monitoring one's cognitive processes in thinking and learning. Students can solve problems well when applying metacognition strategies. Each student has different abilities in understanding learning material. Where male and female students have different ways of thinking, as well as solving a problem. This study aims to describe the level of metacognitive abilities of male and female students in solving problem-based questions in science learning. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. This research was conducted at MTs Al-Islam by taking three male and three female subjects. The selection of subjects is based on the value of student learning outcomes which are limited by a certain standard deviation. This study used written tests and interviews as instruments for data collection. The results are 1) Male students in the high category are at the strategic use level, male students in the medium category are at the aware use level and male students in the low category are at the tacit use level. 2) Female students in the high category are at the level of reflective use, female students in the middle category are at the level of strategic use and female students in the low category are at the level of aware use.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the misconceptions of seventh grade students in science materials, especially temperature, heat, and expansion materials at SMP Negeri 28 Padang. The type of research used in this misconception research is descriptive quantitative. The sample in this study were 29 seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 28 Padang in the 2022/2023 academic year who had learned the concepts of temperature, heat, and expansion. The data collection technique used was a diagnostic test. The data analysis technique in this study consists of several steps, including classifying student answers to determine misconceptions about temperature, heat, and expansion material with a percentage of categories of understanding the concept, not understanding the concept, misconceptions, and guessing. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that there are several things that cause misconceptions, which include the lack of student interest in learning because it is influenced by the thought that learning science is difficult, the lack of teacher confirmation regarding concepts that students understand, the learning process that is still teacher-centered, and the absence of a fixed learning resource so that the teacher becomes the most dominant source of information for students.

Abstract

This research purpose to know the teacher's perception of Kurikulum Merdeka implementation in learning science. Kurikulum Merdeka was implemented because of an educational gap after the Covid-19 pandemic occurred in Indonesia. The implementation of Kurikulum Merdeka is divided into Kurikulum Merdeka Mandiri Belajar, Berbagi, and Berubah. The sample of this research were schools that implemented Kurikulum Merdeka Mandiri Berbagi and Berubah. Schools implementing Kurikulum Merdeka Mandiri Berbagi are SMPN 7 Padang, SMPN 10 Padang, SMPN 11 Padang, as well as schools implementing Kurikulum Merdeka Mandiri Berubah are SMPN 3 Padang, SMPN 25 Padang, and SMPN 38 Padang. The research was a researchs in qualitative descriptive which is conducted by distributing questionnaires to science teachers who apply Kurikulum Merdeka in learning. The questionnaire used consisted of 40 statement items and 6 questions related to Kurikulum Merdeka in science learning. The results of the whole questionnaire show that 90% of science teachers understand and agree with the aspects of Learning Outcomes in the Kurikulum Merdeka 90% on Assessment statement points, 89% on Learning Model points, 76% on Lesson Time Allocation statement points, and 89% at the point of Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila statement. We got the conclussion that the implementation teacher's perception of Kurikulum Merdeka in learning of science is positive.

Abstract

Developing moral values to nature through Integrated Science lessons is a strategic tool, especially in Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) where learning moral values to nature in Integrated Science learning can be based on the Qur'an and Hadith. The Earth's Layer and its Development is one of the science learning materials that can be integrated with the Qur'an and Hadith, through integrated teaching materials that use themes and follow the development of the current digital era, where teaching materials will be easier to use and efficient if they are digital. This study aims to produce teaching material products in the form of integrated science E-Modules with the theme of Loving Allah's Earth integrated with the Qur'an and Hadith in Madrasah Tsanawiyah which are valid and practical. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D) with product development using three stages of the 4-D model, namely define, design, and development. The results of data analysis obtained from the validity test obtained an average value of 0.88 with a very valid category, and the results of the practicality test obtained an average value of 0.99 by teachers and an average value of 0.88 by students with a very practical category.

Abstract

The learning model is needed so that students can actively research and properly apply the subject matter. POEa is one of them. Utilizing POE as a teaching method can help students learn science. The POE learning model is the subject of this study's literature review. This study tries to ascertain whether educating junior high school students using the POE (Predict, Observe, Explain) paradigm will increase their understanding of scientific concepts. Next, we organize each section by broad topic. Based on selected publications, research data. According to research results, using the POE learning method can improve students' understanding of scientific ideas, help them approach science critically, and improve their academic achievement.

Abstract

Kurikulum merdeka was implemented in 2022. The characteristics of the kurikulum merdeka were the development of soft skills and character, focus on essential materials, and flexible learning. The low learning outcomes of students were still a problem. One of the efforts that can be done was to apply the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by performance assessment. This study aimed to determine the effect of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by performance assessment on the learning outcomes of grade VIII students on organ system material. This type of research was Quasi Experiment, with a Non Equivalent Control Group Design research design. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The experimental class used the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by performance assessment while the control class used conventional methods. Based on the hypothesis test with the t test, the calculated value = 2.654 and ttable = 2.006. From the data shows that if tcalculate > ttable, h1 was accepted, it was concluded that there was an influence of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model assisted by performance assessment on the cognitive learning outcomes of grade VIII students on organ system material.

Abstract

This study attempts to show how quizizz-based microlearning has affected the cognitive learning outcomes for basic physics. 39 students participated in the activity that was the focus of this study. A pretest-posttest design with one group was the research methodology used in this study. Methods for gathering data that involve tests. The normality test and paired sample T-test were applied during the data analysis process. The paired sample t-test yielded data of 0.00, indicating that the use of Quizizz-based microlearning had an impact on the cognitive learning outcomes for basic physics.
