Abstract

Standard Costing and variance analysis are a set of management accounting tools that assist industries in controlling the cost of production. It involved the establishment of a cost standard that is required, and the standard cost was applied for comparison to the product’s actual cost. This article aimed to critically explore and assess the applicability of using standard costing and variance analysis as management accounting tools in today's varied worldwide industries. By compiling the findings from various scholars and researchers, this article primarily examines what standard costing methods and variance analysis are, as well as their advantages, limitations, and usefulness. Moreover, the proposed research framework on the motivation of industries in standard costing technique adoption and recommendations were added for future research purposes in this article. As a result, the article successfully concluded that standard costing techniques and variance analysis were relevant and crucial management accounting tools for industries today.

Abstract

Urbanization is a driving force behind habitat destruction and has a dramatic impact on ant richness and composition. This ecological and taxonomic study of urban ants generally focused on identifying species richness in different urban habitat types using DNA barcoding techniques. 17 species of ants collected from Manila, Philippines were sequenced and barcoded for a 600 – 700 range bp region of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit 1 gene (CO1). The AT content in the DNA of 16 ant species was estimated at 68.5%, which is following invertebrates. The distance within species was calculated using the Kimura 2-parameter (K2P) and it was 0.244, 0.168, and 0.331% for mean, minimum, and maximum, respectively. The phylogeny tree constructed using the N-J method also revealed two clusters. The first cluster consisted of three sub-clades representing four subfamilies: Myrmicinae, Ponerinae, while Pseudomyrmicinae, and Dolichoderinae are within the same sub-clade but with different sub-group. The second cluster is formed by the sub-clades of the Formicinae subfamily, which is not in contradiction with the cladistics analysis of morphological data for ants and is consistent with the traditional phylogeny. The results demonstrate that DNA barcoding is an additional tool for providing pertinent information for the systematist for quick and reliable identification of urban ants.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of interest rate and savings on industrial productivity in Nigeria. This is imperative because there has been low level of savings and investment amongst other impediment to industrial productivity. The Ordinary Least Square OLS multiple regression analysis was applied on data from Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletin in a model where industrial sector output was the dependent variable while national savings, interest rate INTR and inflation rate INFL were the explanatory variables. The result of the analysis at 5% level of significance shows clearly that savings exerts a significant impact on industrial output in Nigeria. the result also showed that interest rate and inflation rate does not have a significant impact on industrial output in Nigeria. The study concluded that, savings has a significant positive impact on industrial output while the impact of interest rate and inflation rate on industrial output in Nigeria was positive but insignificant. It was recommended that there is a need to bridge the widening gap between lending rate and savings rate to encourage savings to generate needed loanable funds for investment in Nigeria.

Abstract

cademic freedom is very important in the performance of duties of the teachers. The study was undertaken to determine how academic freedom affects the self-actualization of the teachers of Palompon Institute of Technology and sought to find out the respondents’ level of understanding and extent of practice of academic freedom; level of self-actualization as well as the significant difference in the level of understanding and extent of practice of academic freedom when respondents are grouped according to their profile variables, significant relationship between the level of understanding on academic freedom and its extent of practice, and the significant relationship between academic freedom and self-actualization. Results of the study revealed that there is a significant difference in the level of understanding and extent of practice of academic freedom and self-

Abstract

A research funded by the National Research Council of the Philippines, this study looked into the ideas informing artworks and networks of participation and influence (NPI) of the artist-advocates who help address integral human development (IHD) concerns in the context of the HIV-AIDS problem in the Philippines that can help enhance the three foundational areas of university training of Paulinian IHD artist-advocates in St. Paul University Manila. Using a qualitative triangulated descriptive research design, it was conducted in five major cities of the Philippines. Unstructured interviews of purposively sampled key artist-advicates using digital technologies and their digitally enriched artworks were conducted to surface data analyzed via hermeneutic audio-visual document/textual analysis. Findings revealed four ideas and four NPI.

Abstract

This paper explored the literature on the implementation of "Mother Tongue Based-Multilingual Education" in the Philippines using the Postcolonial lens expressed by Constantino and Osias. It argues that the program is misunderstood among its stakeholders, and there have been lapses in its planning and implementation. This paper attempts to reconcile ideological and pragmatic principles that underly the MTB-MLE program in the Philippines. It was argued that the failure of the program was not due to it being theoretically ungrounded. Still, on the implementation side, as evidenced by the lack of reference materials and instructional materials, the skill gap between the teachers and the necessary language skills is also apparent, aside from the unforeseen challenges concerning the multilingual classroom contexts.

Abstract

The research aims to determine the effect of seed age and variety types on the growth and production of tomato plants (Solanum lycopersicum L.) with hydroponic systems. This research was conducted with factorial treatment and environmental design Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors. Factor I: The age of the seedlings (B) and Factor II. Kinds of varieties (V).  The conclusion was that there was an interaction between the age of the seedlings and the variety of varieties in the observation variable for the increase in the number of leaves 28 day in the B2V1 treatment with an average yield of 15.00 leaves.
