Abstract

The quality of basic education is the primary foundation for the development of highquality human resources. This study aims to analyze the roles of the curriculum, teaching and learning, and educational funding in improving the quality of basic education at SDN 14 Rantau Selatan, Rantau Selatan Subdistrict, Labuhan Batu Regency, North Sumatra Province. The research method used was qualitative descriptive through field studies, in-depth interviews with the principal and teachers, as well as a review of school documents. The results of the study indicate that: (1) the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SDN 14 Rantau Selatan is proceeding gradually with adjustments to the socio-economic characteristics of the plantation community; (2) a contextual learning approach based on local potential has proven to enhance student motivation and understanding; and (3) transparent and accountable management of the School Operational Assistance Fund (BOS) significantly contributes to meeting the school’s operational needs

Abstract

To makula, literally meaning “a sick person,” is a distinctive concept in Torajan culture referring to a person who has biologically died but whose funeral rites have not yet been completed. Rather than being regarded as dead, the individual continues to be recognized as a relational subject and remains actively integrated into family and communal life through practices such as offering food and drink, speaking to the deceased, and caring for the body within the family house until the funeral ceremony takes place. This study explores the philosophical and theological meaning of the relationship between the self and to makula, examining its existential significance within Torajan anthropology, its influence on everyday life, and its possible religious dimension. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research interprets the lived experience of to makula through Gabriel Marcel’s philosophy, particularly his concepts of being, presence, participation, and interpersonal communion. The findings indicate that to makula embodies an enduring relational existence in which death does not immediately dissolve human relationships but transforms them into a continuing presence sustained through love, memory, communal participation, and spiritual solidarity, thereby revealing a philosophical-theological understanding of personhood that transcends the biological definition of death

Abstract

The presumption of innocence is a cornerstone of criminal procedure, requiring that every suspect, arrestee, or defendant be treated as not guilty until a court decision has obtained permanent legal force. Its application by judges in Indonesia, however, faces three interrelated challenges. First, a defendant’s status as a recidivist often triggers judicial bias, shifting a judge’s perspective from “presumed innocent” toward “presumed guilty” before the evidentiary process concludes. Second, the guilty-plea mechanism introduced under the 2025 Criminal Procedure Code creates conceptual tension with the presumption, since it allows a defendant’s own admission to substitute, in practice, for adversarially tested proof. Third, intense media coverage and public opinion risk producing a “trial by the press” that undermines judicial independence and objectivity. Using a normative juridical approach, this study argues that strengthening judicial moral integrity, adopting firmer ethical guidelines, and reinforcing safeguards for judicial independence are necessary so that the presumption of innocence is genuinely realized in Indonesian criminal justice practice.

Abstract

Indonesia's newly enacted Criminal Code, Law Number 1 of 2023, reclassifies capital punishment from a primary penalty into a special and conditional sanction accompanied by a ten-year probationary period. This reform was intended to reconcile the death penalty with contemporary principles of humanity and rehabilitation. However, neither the new Code nor its predecessor regulation establishes a definite time limit within which an execution must be carried out following the exhaustion of legal remedies or the expiry of the probationary period. Empirical evidence shows that numerous death-row convicts in Indonesia have endured waiting periods far exceeding the maximum term of fixed-term imprisonment, in some cases spanning more than two decades, exposing them to what may be characterized as a double punishment and prolonged psychological uncertainty. Employing normative legal research through statutory and conceptual approaches, this article examines the regulatory vacuum surrounding the waiting period for execution under Indonesian law and evaluates its implications for the principle of legal certainty and the protection of convicts' fundamental rights. Drawing on Gustav Radbruch's theory of legal certainty and Lon Fuller's principles of the inner morality of law, the study argues that the absence of a clearly promulgated and consistently applied time frame undermines both the normative coherence of the criminal justice system and the constitutional guarantee of legal certainty. The article concludes by underscoring the urgency of further statutory regulation to close this normative gap and to safeguard the rights of death-row convicts pending execution.

Abstract

The study aims to determine and analyze the effect of product quality, service quality, and price on consumer satisfaction at Hasanah Bakery Rantauprapat. The population in this study were consumers of Hasanah Bakery Rantauprapat, sample determination using the Lemeshow formula with Accidental Sampling technique totaling 96 respondents. The data collection technique used a questionnaire as a research instrument. This type of research is a descriptive questionnaire where the data was processed using SPSS 23. Data analysis using Instrument Test (Validity and Reliability), Classical Assumption Test in the form of Normality, Multicollinearity, Heteroscedasticity, Multiple Linear Regression, Hypothesis testing using the t-test and F-test and the Determination Coefficient Test. The results of the study showed that product quality had a positive and significant effect on consumer satisfaction with a t-value of 4.209> t-table 1.986 with a significance level of 0.000. Service quality has a positive and insignificant effect on consumer satisfaction with a t-value of 1.222 < t-table 1.986 and a significance level of 0.223. Price has a positive and significant effect on consumer satisfaction with a t-value of 3.813 > t-table 1.986 with a significance level of 0.000. Research results based on the simultaneous F-test of product quality, service quality, and price have a positive and significant effect on consumer satisfaction

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed corporate communication patterns, making them more flexible, interactive, and integrated, including in marketing communication, which now requires strategic management of digital channels to ensure consistent messaging and strong relationships with the public. This research analyzes Ninja Xpress's digital communication as a means of marketing communication and information dissemination, based on Don E. Schultz's Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) perspective. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method through observation of digital channels (website, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube) along with a literature review, referring to IMC concepts that emphasize message integration, communication consistency, and relationship-building with audiences. The findings show that Ninja Xpress utilizes various digital channels with distinct functions while maintaining a consistent core message, namely ease of logistics services, support for MSMEs, domestic and international delivery reach, and technology utilization. Digital media are also used to build public relations through customer service, social media interaction, and educational content. However, responses to several customer complaints still tend to rely on generic templates, which do not always provide specific solutions. Overall, Ninja Xpress's digital communication has supported the implementation of IMC principles in strengthening brand image and public relations. The company is advised to improve the quality of digital interactions through more personal, solution-oriented responses focused on resolving customer issues.
