Abstract

Digital transformation has reshaped patterns of communication, community formation, and church worship practices, while simultaneously creating opportunities for disinformation, fragmented attention, and weakened interpersonal relationships among congregants. Although studies on transformational leadership, digital literacy, and community resilience have developed independently, theological-pastoral syntheses that systematically integrate these three domains remain limited, particularly within the context of Evangelical churches in Indonesia. This study aims to formulate a conceptual framework of transformational pastoral leadership that can strengthen congregational resilience amid digital disruption. Employing an integrative literature review approach, the study examines relevant sources and synthesizes interdisciplinary findings through thematic analysis. The findings indicate that congregational resilience is fostered through three principal domains. First, apologetic-doctrinal teaching strengthens congregants’ critical capacity to respond to misinformation and doctrinal distortion. Second, contextual digital literacy equips congregants to evaluate, verify, and manage online information responsibly. Third, adaptive spiritual formation sustains relationships, participation, and intergenerational solidarity within digital environments. Based on this synthesis, the study proposes an integrative pastoral framework that positions pastors not only as teachers and guardians of doctrine but also as architects of a healthy digital ecosystem that nurtures spiritual growth and communal resilience. This study contributes to the development of digital pastoral theology and provides a conceptual foundation for local church ministry in the era of digital transformation.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of teachers in increasing the faith growth of Sunday School children. Using a literature study approach with qualitative methods, this research analyzes various literature sources related to the role of teachers in the context of children's religious education. The research results show that Sunday School teachers have a very crucial role in instilling religious values, building personal relationships with children, and creating a conducive learning environment. Effective teachers not only convey religious teaching material, but also become role models, facilitators and counselors for children. Apart from that, the use of creative and interesting learning methods can also increase children's interest and participation in Sunday School activities. In conclusion, the role of Sunday School teachers is very significant in the growth of children's faith. Therefore, efforts are needed to improve the quality and competence of Sunday School teachers so that they can carry out their role optimally.

Abstract

The event of the Ascension of Christ is frequently marginalized within systematic theological discourse, often reduced to a mere chronological epilog to the Resurrection. This article aims to reconstruct the meaning of the Ascension as a Christological climax that bridges the tension between the resurrection narrative and the event of Pentecost. Employing a qualitative method with a canonical and biblical theological approach, this study juxtaposes the Hebrew concept of Aliyah (ascent/migration) and the Merkavah tradition (Chariot of Glory) with patristic doctrines such as Exaltatio (exaltation) and Recapitulatio (recapitulation). The novelty of this research lies in the proposition that the Ascension serves as the momentum for the "naturalization" of humanity into the divine reality. Comparative analysis reveals an ontological conflict: on one hand, rabbinic tradition rejects this claim as a form of shituf (associationism), while on the other, the Church Fathers celebrate it as the foundation of theosis (divinization). Through a philological study of anastasis (resurrection) versus analepsis (assumption), as well as the Hebrew equivalent laqach (taken), this research concludes that the Ascension of Jesus is substantially distinct from the "translations" of Enoch or Elijah, as it involves the personification of humanity within the exclusive throne of the Shekhinah.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and social acceleration in the modern era has significantly transformed human lifestyles, ways of thinking, and character formation. However, behind this progress emerge various moral and spiritual crises such as instant culture, digital narcissism, post-truth relativism, identity fragmentation, and existential exhaustion. This study aims to examine the character of Christ as a theological-ethical paradigm in responding to the crisis of character in the era of digital disruption. The research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach through theological analysis of biblical texts, theological literature, and empirical data related to contemporary digital social phenomena. The findings reveal that the character of Christ, centered on kenosis, integrity of truth, love, and relational spirituality, provides a relevant ethical foundation for modern humanity experiencing identity disorientation and character degradation. Christ is not merely a moral example, but the model of true humanity who restores the meaning of the imago Dei within human beings. This study affirms that the formation of Christlike character is an urgent necessity for the church and modern society so that individuals may live authentically, maintain integrity in digital spaces, and grow in spiritual maturity amid disruptive cultural changes.

Abstract

This article analyzes Ezekiel 37:1-14 as a transitional text that bridges classical prophetic tradition with the apocalyptic horizon in the Old Testament canon. The research employs a theological-biblical approach through a library research methodology. Through a three-dimensional analysis encompassing continuity, innovation, and synthesis, this article argues that the vision of the dry bones valley is not merely a contextual response to the Babylonian exile trauma, but also a symbolic breakthrough that laid the foundation for the development of resurrection eschatology in the New Testament. Continuity with prophetic tradition is maintained through prophetic formulas and the orientation toward national restoration. Innovation is evident in the use of mass resurrection symbolism and the function of the Spirit as a source of eschatological life. The synthesis of both dimensions positions Ezekiel 37 as a theological bridge between classical prophecy and apocalyptic literature. These findings carry hermeneutical implications for intertextual readings between the Old and New Testaments.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media has created a new cultural environment that significantly shapes identity formation, communication patterns, and religious practices in contemporary society. Within this context, Christians face the challenge of maintaining authentic piety amid a digital culture characterized by social validation, identity fragmentation, and algorithmic influence. This study aims to reconstruct Noah’s piety in Genesis 6–9 as a theological paradigm for Christian life in the age of social media through the lens of Heidi A. Campbell’s Digital Theology. Employing a qualitative library research approach, the study integrates biblical textual analysis with contemporary Digital Theology scholarship. The findings reveal that Noah’s piety was rooted in a consistent relationship with God, resulting in integrity, obedience, authentic identity, and transformative witness. The study further demonstrates that Christian piety in the digital age should not be defined primarily by visibility, popularity, or social influence, but by faithfulness to God in all forms of digital engagement. As its primary theoretical contribution, this research proposes the NOAH Model (Networked Integrity, Obedient Presence, Authentic Identity, and Holy Witness) as a paradigm for Christian piety in the digital era. This model integrates biblical theology, Digital Theology, digital ethics, and Christian discipleship into a unified conceptual framework for cultivating an authentic, critical, and transformative digital spirituality.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the theological concept of the marriage covenant in the Christian faith based on the Bible and its relevance to Sumbanese traditional wedding practices. The marriage covenant in Christianity is understood as a sacred bond that reflects the relationship between Christ and His congregation. This study aims to understand the theological and spiritual foundations of the Christian marriage covenant and assess how these principles can be integrated or interact with Sumbanese traditional wedding practices within the local cultural context. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, involving five key informants: a pastor, a council member, two Christian couples married in traditional and church marriages, and one Christian couple about to marry. This approach allows for in-depth exploration of their experiences, understandings, and perspectives on the meaning of the marriage covenant from both perspectives. The results of this study indicate that the marriage covenant in the Christian faith emphasizes the dimensions of sacredness, fidelity, and mutual responsibility between husband and wife as a reflection of Christ’s love for His congregation. On the other hand, Sumbanese traditional weddings are rich in cultural symbols that bind two extended families, but do not fully embody Christian spiritual values. Therefore, cultural transformation through a theological approach is essential to ensure that traditional wedding practices do not conflict with the values of the Christian faith. This research contributes to Christian families, churches, and indigenous communities in building a more integrative understanding between God’s word and local cultural richness.

Abstract

Assessment practices in Christian Religious Education (CRE) remain predominantly dominated by quantitative approaches that emphasize scores and measurable learning outcomes. Such approaches are insufficient to capture the holistic development of faith, character, and spiritual maturity, which constitute the primary goals of Christian education. This study aims to construct a humanistic paradigm of assessment in Christian Religious Education by integrating the theological foundations of Christian education with the critical pedagogical perspectives of Paulo Freire and Henry A. Giroux. The study employs a qualitative library research approach. Data were analyzed using a critical-constructive framework through the examination of Christian education literature, educational assessment theories, the Merdeka Curriculum, and the educational philosophies of Freire and Giroux. The findings indicate that assessment in Christian Religious Education should not be limited to measuring cognitive achievement but should function as a dialogical, reflective, and transformative process that fosters faith formation, character development, and social responsibility. Based on this synthesis, the study proposes a humanistic assessment model that positions assessment as a means of discipleship, liberation, and reconciliation, grounded in the Christian values of love, justice, and respect for human dignity as the Imago Dei. This model offers a conceptual framework for developing holistic, humanistic, and contextually relevant assessment practices in Christian Religious Education.
