Abstract

This work addresses the development of Distributed Model Predictive Control (DMPC) approaches for the planning of maintenance operations of large-scale railway infrastructure formulated as a Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) problem. The proposed optimization problem is solved using two different decomposition schemes: Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) and Distributed Robust Safe But Knowledgeable (DRSBK). The original distributed algorithms are modified to handle the non-convex nature of the optimization problem, hence improving the solution quality. The results of large-scale test instances show that DRSBK can outperform the conventional centralized approach and ADMM, by providing the closest-to-optimum solution while requiring the least computation time.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a joint disease that affects a large part of the elderly population. One of the OA that is often experienced by patients is knee OA. To determine the development and classification of this disease, a process of segmenting the femur and tibia is needed quickly and accurately. Meanwhile, manual segmentation has several disadvantages including the longer time needed and the difference in the results of reading x-ray images between medical personnel with each other. Therefore, in this paper, an Adaptive Active Shape Model (AASM) is presented for femur and tibia segmentation on knee x-ray images. The purpose of this segmentation is to support the discovery and characterization of imaging biomarkers for the incidence, clinical evaluation, classification, and progression of knee osteoarthritis (OA). This new algorithm is adaptively capable of better segmenting the femur and tibia than the original ASM. In this experiment, 10 images were used as training data to get the mean shape model and 50 images were tested to find out performance of the method implemented. All images are taken randomly from Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI) dataset. To determinate the accuracy of this segmentation method, calculations have been performed using Hausdorff Distance(HD) and Dice Similarity Coefficient(DSC). In addition, this study have also been compared with previous research (original ASM) and the same data is used. The best average result of the segmentation validation method from 50 test images in the AASM method using HD is 0.2016 for the right tibia femur bone using 43 landmarks and 0.9497 for the DSC. Based on these results, the average increase in accuracy of segmentation validation was 0.29 for HD and 0.33 for DSC. Thus, this method is quite reliable and clinically valuable for monitoring the progression of knee osteoarthritis.

Abstract

This paper presents the results of research on the development of small-scale compressed air storage operating at its maximum efficiency. In contrast to what was done in previous studies using a buck converter on the output side of the generator, here a boost converter is used. The use of a boost converter allows the turbines to operate at a reasonably low speed and can still produce the desired voltage for the load, which is 12 volts. This strategy is chosen based on the characteristics of the turbine which indicates that the turbine will operate with better efficiency if operated at lower speeds. In this study, the search for maximum efficiency points is done by perturb and observe (P&O) method. The simulation results show that this strategy is effective for obtaining operating points with maximum efficiency if the load power is small relative to the nominal power of the turbine-generator, which is below 50%.

Abstract

Monitoring is the important thing for the security of an area. Based on the monitoring, the condition of the area, events, and objects can be observed. Monitoring of an area generally uses Closed Circuit Television (CCTV). But CCTV cameras only function as passive supervisor which are unable to detect the appearance of objects. Therefore, the motion detection techniques need to be applied to detect the appearance of the objects. In this paper, a Gaussian blur and accumulative frame difference method was applied to detect the appearance of the objects. The method works by comparing the reference frame as a benchmark with the target frame which is filled by the objects. Based on the results of the test, the system is able to detect the objects that appear by raising a segmentation line on the objects. Then, the time of objects appearance will be recorded in a *.csv file and the system visualizes the appearance of the objects in time-series graphs. Objects appearance examination at a distance of 1 to 10 meters can work well during a bright conditions. However, in dark environments (less than 40 lux), the system has not been able to detect the appearance of an object because it depends on the specification of camera used by the users. Then, in testing the number of the objects, the system can detect multiple objects. However, if there are several objects that are too close, those objects will be merged as one object.

Abstract

The substitution process in block ciphers usually uses static s-boxes, where the value of each s-box entry is always fixed and the functions are one-to-one. Visually, the dataset pattern in the input is also seen in the output. This will make it easier for cryptanalysts to look at patterns and can predict behavior based on the input. This study designs a flexible s-box where each entry contains a linear function, with constants and coefficients generated by CSPRNG chaos from the key input. The strength of a flexible s-box can be seen when changing key inputs (although 1 bit different) will produce different s-boxes. In addition, the same input dataset values will produce different outputs, so flexible s-boxes are one-to-many. Statistical tests show that the average correlation is in a low category. Tests on the cipher block also fulfill the Shannon Principle. The principle of Iterated Cipher with n-round is filled with n > 5 and 46n random numbers. The Avalanche Effect test on the algorithm gives better results than Two fish even though it is still below the DES.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the world of information technology has an impact on the spread of the amount of software. Software maintenance is needed to support the quality of software. Software quality can be measured in terms of product and process.Some examples of the positive impact of improving software quality include benefits, reducing costs incurred for maintenance, and increasing productivity. One way to test the quality of the software is to use the ISO/IEC 9126 testing model by using fourcharacteristic assessments, namely usability, functionality, reliability, and efficiency. Case studies in this paper are web-based software application Social Media Monitoring and Online Media at PT. XYZ. The results of testing web-based software applications, social media, and online media monitoring belonging to PT. XYZ, using the ISO/IEC 9126 testing model get results, for the assessment of usability characteristics scored 61.81%.Assessment of usability characteristics used testing in the form of System Usability Scale (SUS). The characteristic assessment of functionality scored 76.55%. The characteristic assessment of functionality is carried out by software engineers with validation of the overall features. The characteristic assessment of reliability scored 99.14%. Assessment of reliability characteristics is carried out by calculating four variables, namely function, failure, working unit, and error rate. Finally, the characteristic assessment of efficiency scored 66.8%. Assessment of efficiency characteristics is done by performing calculations in the form of feature code, value, total weight grade, and HTTP request.

Abstract

Distributed databases have been a research subject that attracted many researchers to study. Distributed databases have many advantages, such as reliability and data availability. There are still many problems in this subject area that need to be solved through researches. In this paper, query data extractor, a subsystem of distributed database system, is designed and implemented. Query data extractor reside at the heart of the distributed database system. The main task of the query data extractor is to extract query data issued by applications sitting at a site to result data needed by optimizer subsystem in fragmentation and allocation processes.

Abstract

Opinion classification is an analysis that aims to determine the sentiments of the community or a group about a particular entity. Opinion classification can be categorized as positive, negative, and neutral. This research of the classification of public opinion was conducted on the MyRepublic internet service provider. At the moment, MyRepublic has reached sevenprovinces in Indonesia. MyRepublic has used a lot of media to communicate with its customers, especially Twitter. MyRepublic Twitter account is MyRepublicid with a number of followers of 9,414. This research uses comments or tweets from followers that can be used to see opinions from followers of My Republic, whether positive or negative. The comments or tweets classification on Twitter is using naïve Bayes method. The data used is 1,553. As much as 70% of the data from each category is used as training data and the remaining 30% as testing data. The naïve Bayes method produces positive accuracy value of 0.976%, negative accuracy value of 0.82895%, and neutral accuracy value of 0.8333%, with an average of 0.87949%. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the naïve Bayes method is able to classify the data very well.

Abstract

This paper presents trajectory tracking on omni robots using odometry method. The odometry system aims to estimate the position relative to the initial position of the omni robot to estimate changes in position over time. The rotary encoder sensor is used to count the movement of the omni robot at the xand y coordinates in the odometry calculation process in this study. Furthermore, using the reverse kinematics on the omni robot, the rotational speed value of each DC motor in the omni robot wheel is obtained. In addition, to obtain the results of a good robot movement on the odometry system, PID control is applied to control the rotational speed of each DC motor on the omni robot wheel. With reverse kinematics and odometry systems, omni robot trajectory designs can be easily built. To test the odometry method performance in trajectory tracking process, there are three types of trajectory testing patterns, namely rectangles, equilateral triangles, and equilateral triangles. From the results of this test, the error value obtained is below 5%.

Abstract

Filter is an RF component that has an important function in a communication system. The type of filter which is usually used in receiver system is bandpass filter (BPF). The filter design method that is discussed on this paper is square ring resonator using microstrip transmission line modified by adding coupled line stub on each side of resonator. The modification is used because it is capable to optimize the return loss and to hold the insertion loss so that the filter could be working as a wideband filter. This paper discusses the influence of the geometrical changing from stripline microstrip on BPF square ring resonator microstrip performance. The evaluation is needed to obtain the optimum performance of BPF microstrip which is suitable to communication system specification. The simulation is performed using component RF simulation software with Rogers RT/Duroid 5880substrate which has dielectric constant (εr) of 2.2. The result of last simulation shows that the filter has center frequency around 1.5 GHz with its average bandwidth is around 916 MHz.
