Abstract

Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a progressive condition characterized by the kidneys' inability to maintain the body's internal homeostasis, resulting in the accumulation of metabolic waste products and fluid and electrolyte imbalances. According to the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Health Office, 5,534 cases of CKD were reported between 2021 and 2023, with 855 patients undergoing hemodialysis. Objective: This study aimed to identify factors associated with self-care among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Bakti Timah Hospital, Pangkalpinang, in 2025. Methods: This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design involving 159 patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Bakti Timah Hospital, Pangkalpinang, in 2025. Data were analyzed to determine the associations between knowledge, family support, gender, and self-care. Results: Knowledge (p < 0.001), family support (p = 0.010), and gender (p = 0.010) were significantly associated with self-care among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. Conclusion: Knowledge, family support, and gender were significantly associated with self-care among patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis. Improving patients' knowledge and strengthening family support may enhance self-care practices and contribute to better treatment adherence and health outcomes.

Abstract

Introduction : World Health Organization (WHO) data for 2022 states that there are 12,224,551 new cases each year. The prevalence of stroke in Indonesia in 2023 is 23.1 million people (8.3%) of a population of 277.5 million. Data from Bakti Timah Hospital, Pangkalpinang, states that there were 318 cases of stroke in 2024. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the incidence of ischemic stroke in the elderly at Bakti Timah Hospital, Pangkalpinang, in 2025 Method : The design in this study used a cross-sectional with independent variables (history of disease, diet and family support) and dependent variables (ischemic stroke in the elderly). The population size in this study was 318 people and a sample of 83 people, the calculation used simple random sampling. The research time was from 16 to June 2025 Result: The results of the study obtained a p-value of the knowledge variable 0.000 <0.05, diet 0.000 <0.05 and physical activity 0.000 <0.05. This shows that there is a significant relationship between medical history, diet and family support on the incidence of ischemic stroke in the elderly at Bakti Timah Hospital Pangkalpinang in 2025 Conclusion: Suggestions in this study are expected to be used as evaluation material that it is important to maintain a healthy diet, support and encouragement of motivation from the family so that the elderly are enthusiastic and motivated in dealing with their illness. This should be a greater concern for health institutions, especially in designing work programs with a wider reach, such as providing health education and counseling to the community

Abstract

Introduction:  Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is a complex clinical syndrome characterized by a decline in functional capacity, often resulting in recurrent rehospitalization. The rehospitalization rate has been steadily increasing at Bakti Timah Hospital Pangkalpinang. Factors such as hypertension, non-adherence to dietary recommendations, and low quality of life contribute to rehospitalization among CHF patients. Objective: This study aimed to identify factors associated with rehospitalization among CHF patients at Bakti Timah Hospital Pangkalpinang in 2025. Method : This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional survey design. The population consisted of all CHF patients undergoing treatment at the hospital, with a total of 59 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Result: The results revealed significant associations between a history of hypertension (p=0.01; POR=7.031; 95% CI: 2.222–22.254), dietary adherence (p=0.003; POR=6.000; 95% CI: 1.935–18.603), and quality of life (p=0.017; POR=4.267; 95% CI: 1.420–12.824) with rehospitalization events Conclusion:  In conclusion, a history of hypertension, dietary adherence, and quality of life are important factors influencing rehospitalization among CHF patients. Enhancing patient and family understanding of hypertension management, implementing appropriate dietary practices, and improving quality of life are expected to help reduce the rehospitalization rate

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting remains a major public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly in rural and border areas such as East Nusa Tenggara. Emerging evidence suggests that maternal psychological factors, including pregnancy stress and mental health disorders, play a critical role in child growth outcomes. However, the mediating role of maternal mental health in the relationship between antenatal stress and stunting remains underexplored in primary healthcare settings. Objective: To analyze the relationship between pregnancy stress and stunting incidence through maternal mental health as a mediating variable at Puskesmas Umanen, Atambua. Method: This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach conducted in March 2026. A total of 210 respondents (pregnant women and mothers with children aged 0–24 months) were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated instruments: Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), and anthropometric measurements (height-for-age Z-score). Data were analyzed using mediation analysis with regression models (PROCESS Macro), with significance set at p < 0.05. Results: Pregnancy stress was significantly associated with stunting incidence (p < 0.05). Maternal mental health (depression/anxiety) significantly mediated this relationship (indirect effect p < 0.01), indicating a partial mediation model. Higher levels of stress increased the risk of poor maternal mental health, which in turn significantly increased the likelihood of stunting. Conclusion: Maternal mental health plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between pregnancy stress and stunting. Integrating mental health screening into antenatal care services is essential to reduce stunting risk in primary healthcare settings.
