Abstract

This study aims to describe students learning motivation preferences and cognitive learning outcomes using Quizizz on the respiratory system material. The participants of this study were class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Pacitan, class VIII F (experimental class), and class VII G (control class). Data collection techniques using motivational questionnaires and giving pretest and posttest. The questionnaire instrument was designed according to the indicators of learning motivation and the tests (pretest and posttest) referred to indicators of cognitive learning outcomes. The statistical test of cognitive learning outcomes between classes VIII F and VIII G also showed consistent results where the average increase test for classes VIII F and VIII G gave the results that there was a difference in the average increase in average between classes VIII F and VIII G with the (p<0.01). The conclusions of this study indicate that the Quizizz evaluation media affects learning motivation and student learning outcomes. This research implies that the teacher can determine interesting and motivating media to be used in science learning so that it can affect student learning outcomes for the better. The use of Quizizz media is very helpful for students in online learning and tends to develop learning motivation during a pandemic and is in line with the Ministry of Education and Culture's policy on education policy in the COVID-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of the guided inquiry learning model in the critical thinking process and the influence of gender on student learning outcomes on environmental pollution material. The research does at SMPN 1 Ploso - Jombang. Samples use a simple random sampling technique. The number of samples used was 30 students consisting of 15 female students and 15 male students. The type of research used is pre-experimental, namely through interviews with science subject teachers and experiments with one group pretest-posttest design. The instruments used include the Learning Implementation Plan, Student Worksheets, and pretest-posttest questions. The result of this research is that there is a significant influence on the guided inquiry learning method on students' critical thinking skills. The results of the second study showed that the average N-Gain score of female students is higher. The difference in the N-Gain scores of female students and male students showed a significant difference. It means that gender affects students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected education and work systems around the world, causing schools and public places to be closed or limiting the number of users. Hybrid Learning is learning that combines two activities or learning models, namely combining online learning and face-to-face learning at the same time. Various kinds of perceptions of students who address the learning model. The focus of the study in this research is divided into three things, namely online learning, face-to-face learning, and hybrid learning. The purpose of this study was to determine how the perceptions of students at MTs Negeri 2 Sidoarjo on hybrid learning. This study uses descriptive quantitative methods with research instruments using interviews and an online questionnaire via Google Forms. Respondents in this study were students of MTs Negeri 2 Sidoarjo. The results of this study can be concluded that students like hybrid learning that is applied in schools. Because students prefer face-to-face learning because they can understand the material clearly and can interact directly with other students.

Abstract

Currently in various parts of the world are being hit by the Covid-19 pandemic which has caused several sectors to experience a significant impact, one of which is in the world of education. Due to the pandemic, the learning process must be carried out from home. During the learning from home, several problems appeared, one pf which was the decrease in student activity in the learning process, especially in science subjects. The purpose of this was determine the factors that triggered the decline in student inactivity in the learning process of science subjects during the pandemic at SMP Negeri 10 Gresik and SMP Negeri 1 Babat in 2020/2021 academic year. The research approach used descriptive qualitative, and the research subjects were students of class VII, VIII, and IX of SMP Negeri 10 Gresik and SMP Negeri 1 Babat totalling 82 students. A questionnaire was used to collect data. The result showed that the factors that triggered the decline in student activity in the learning process during the pandemic included student conditions during learning, student anxiety during the learning process, student learning motivation, and student environment.

Abstract

Pandemi masih menjadi salah satu isu utama dalam bidang pendidikan sejak kemunculannya di penghujung tahun 2019. Pensa E-Jurnal: Pendidikan Sains pada edisi kali ini juga masih fokus pada isu proses belajar-mengajar selama pandemi. Volume 10 Nomor 1 Januari 2022 ini terdiri atas 25 artikel. Berbagai upaya untuk mengoptimalkan proses pembelajaran dibahas secara lengkap dalam 25 artikel tersebut. Berbagai isu utama dalam pengembangan kompetensi siswa seperti keterampilan berpikir kritis, argumentasi, keterampilan berpikir kreatif, peta pikiran, keterampilan proses sains, dan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi dalam proses pembelajaran daring dan hibrid menjadi kajian utama dalam terbitan kali ini.

Abstract

One of the attempts that science as the subject should address is to promote students’ scientific literacy by embedding the nature of science (NOS) into science textbooks as one of the primary resources in learning. This research aimed to describe the NOS aspects presented within the three science textbooks in grade 9. This study used a descriptive research method to describe the ten aspects of NOS adopted from Abd-El-Khalick et al. (2008). Data were collected by quoting every sentence or paragraph regarding each targeted NOS aspect and later were grouped and analyzed descriptively to describe the completeness of ten aspects of NOS. Analyses showed that NOS indicators did not completely address the targeted NOS aspects within the three science textbooks. Textbook A addressed seven out of ten aspects of NOS, the highest among the other two, whereas Textbook B and Textbook C did only five and six. NOS aspects most addressed within the three textbooks were empirical, scientific theories, and social and cultural embeddedness of science. Some of the targeted NOS aspects, inferential, creative, and scientific methods, were not addressed within the three science textbooks. The inadequacy of targeted NOS aspects within the textbooks was believed to be related to authors’ and publishers’ interests regarding NOS. The inadequacy of targeted NOS aspects would lead to insufficient NOS learning in the classroom, and science literacy as the primary goal in science learning would be difficult to achieve.

Abstract

The lack of role in the use of learning media that can be used in learning that is abstract to become more concrete is one of the reasons for carrying out this research. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the application of call cards on student learning outcomes in the material of the human digestive system. The research design used was One-Group Pre-test-Post-test Design. The research was conducted in class VIII C of SMP Negeri 1 Pacet with a total of 32 students. The data collection instruments in this study used observation sheets, tests, and questionnaires. Science learning outcomes data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical analysis techniques, namely normality test, t-test, and description of N-gain. The results showed that the average percentage of student activity was 81.5% having an average of 61% with very good criteria. The acquisition of t-test, Sig. (2-tailed) <0.05, which means that there is a significant difference in student learning outcomes between before and after the call cards game is applied, and the average N-gain is 0.60, besides that students respond positive for 83.11% with a very good category for the application of call cards on the material of the human digestive system. Thus, call cards game media can be an alternative in improving science learning outcomes better.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation and effectiveness of the discovery learning model in improving learning outcomes on digestive system material. The subjects of this research were 26 students of class VIII-G SMPN 54 Surabaya. This research method is descriptive quantitative research design with one group pretest posttest design. The instruments used were pretest and posttest sheets each with 12 multiple choice questions and discovery learning implementation sheets. The results of the implementation of discovery learning obtained a very good category in 4 modes. The results of the homogeneity test state that the data are homogeneous with a significance level of 0.06. In the normality test, the data is normally distributed with a significance level of 0.39. The dependent t-test shows alpha 0.00 so that it is known that there is a significant difference between the pretest-posttest learning outcomes. The result of the implementation discovery learning is effective in improving learning outcomes on digestive system material.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the effectiveness application model discovery learning -based mobile virtual laboratory on simple aircraft material to improving student’s basic science process skills, learning implementation and student response questionnaires. The type of research was pre-experimental with one group pretest posttest as the design. The research subjects were students of grade VIII I SMPN 16 Surabaya totaling 39 students. The research instruments were in the form of test sheets for basic science process skills, observation sheets for the implementation of discovery learning, and student response questionnaire sheets. Data collection techniques were carried out using test, observation, and questionnaire methods. The data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive. The implementation of learning both the first and second meetings obtained percentage of 93.75%-100% with each meeting included very good category. There is increase in basic science process skills in terms of the average pretest and posttest results of 45.38 to 83.21 with classical completeness on the posttest 94.87% and the acquisition N-gain score of 0.70 which included in the medium category. In the student response questionnaire for all statement items including very good category of the average student response answers are in the interval above 3.41 to 4.21 from the highest scale worth 5. The conclusion is learning with the model discovery learning based on mobile virtual laboratory can improve basic science process skills and get a positive response from students.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the implementation of the learning process, improved learning outcomes and student responses to the use of interactive e-modules in heat material in learning. This study is a pre-experiments study, using one group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted on 32 students from class VII-H SMPN 5 Gresik. Sample selection uses random sampling techniques. Data collection methods used in the form of observations, tests and questionnaires. The results of the data collection will be analyzed using mode values to measure learning performance, normality tests and paired t-tests to measure the significance of improved learning outcomes, calculate N-Gain scores, and calculate percentage averages in each aspect of the questionnaire to measure students' response to learning. The results of this study obtained that, the learning process has been carried out in a very good category. Student activity increased at the second meeting, which was 75% with a high category. Obtained the average N-gain value of students in one class of 0.65, so that it can be expressed in the moderate category. Learning outcomes experienced a significant increase, as they gained a value significance of 0,000<0.05. Judging from the results of the response, 96.35% of students gave a positive response to the learning process. The conclusion of this study is that the use of interactive e-modules on heat material can improve learning outcomes for students of class VII-H SMPN 5 Gresik.
