Abstract

Background & Objective: Adherence to medication is a key factor in controlling Diabetes Mellitus; however, challenges in patient compliance are still frequently encountered. Illness perception and religiosity have been shown to have a significant impact on adherence levels. Preliminary data from Lampihong Health Center indicate an increase in DM cases, yet medication adherence remains low, highlighting the need for an in-depth study of the influencing factors. This study aims to analyze the relationship between illness perception and religiosity and their impact on medication adherence among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus receiving treatment at the Lampihong Health Center. Methods: This study employs a cross-sectional design with a descriptive correlational approach. A total of 30 type 2 DM patients were selected using an accidental sampling technique. Data were collected using the Illness Perception Questionnaire, Religious Involvement Questionnaire, and the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale. Pearson correlation tests were used for data analysis. Results: A significant relationship was found between illness perception and religiosity with medication adherence (p < 0.05). Patients with positive illness perceptions and higher religiosity levels tend to have better medication adherence. Conclusion: A positive illness perception and high religiosity can enhance medication adherence in type 2 DM patients. These findings provide a basis for developing interventions that consider psychosocial and spiritual aspects in the management of DM at the local level.

This nutritional disorder problem can be caused by diseases that make it difficult to eat so that nutritional disorders can occur. This nutritional disorder occurs in patients with cancer, diabetes and elderly people who are old because of the reduced level of appetite they have. Method: The method used in writing this literature review is to use a comprehensive strategy, such as searching for articles in the research journal database used, keywords used to search for articles, and limitations of the search for articles to be reviewed based on the year of publication of at least the last 5 years, language, and availability in full text form. Result: Interventions that can be given to these patients are feeding through nasogastric and parenteral. Parenteral nutrition is done by administering 10% aminosteril, 20% lipid and NS+KCL+Ca fluid (a mixture of NACL, calcium potassium chloride, and calcium). Conclusion: Various interventions have been identified as solutions to overcome nutritional disorders, including feeding through nasogastric or parenteral, proper diet planning, regular monitoring of patient nutritional status, and health education to patients and their families.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Homesickness is a feeling of homesickness that is often experienced by overseas students, especially in the first year. This condition can affect psychological conditions and reduce motivation to learn. Overseas students often face challenges adapting to a new environment, which can increase the risk of homesickness. Research conducted by Firdasari et al at Halu Oleo University found a correlation value of r = -0.351 (p value <0.05), which shows the higher the level of homesickness, the lower the learning motivation. This study aims to analyze the relationship between homesickness and learning motivation of first-year overseas students at the Faculty of Health, Harapan Bangsa University Purwokerto. Method: This study used quantitative methods with a correlational design and cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 109 first-year overseas students selected through total sampling technique. Data were collected using Homesickness Questionnaire (HQ) adapted by Utami to measure the level of homesickness and Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire (MSLQ) adapted by Afifah to measure learning motivation. Data were analyzed using Spearman's rho two-tailed correlation test. Result: The results showed a significant negative relationship between homesickness and learning motivation in overseas students with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.344 and p-value = 0.000. These results are in line with previous research, showing that the higher the level of homesickness, the lower the student's learning motivation. Conclusion: This research is expected to be a reference for students in order to optimize high learning motivation and manage homesickness wisely by participating in activities such as student and academic organizations.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Hypertension is a disease that causes premature death in the world. West Java Province ranks second with the most hypertension patients with a prevalence of 39.60%. Treatment of hypertension uses pharmacological therapy which can be combined with non-pharmacological therapies such as relaxation therapy. Currently, the belief of hypertension sufferers in chemical drugs is decreasing, and increasing treatment using complementary therapies. This study aims to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy and deep breath relaxation on reducing high blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Selajambe village, Kuningan Regency, 2024. Method: This type of research is an analytic quasy experiment design with pre-test and post-test design. The population was 168 hypertensive patients with purposive sampling technique. Bivariate analysis using the T test. Result: The results showed that the average blood pressure before being given progressive muscle relaxation was 160.1/101.7mmHG which decreased to 135.6/79.35. The results of deep breath relaxation were 155.9/95.20mmHg decreased to 147.0/87.20mmHg. T test on progressive muscle relaxation obtained p-value = 0.000 on systole blood pressure and p-value = 0.006 on diastole blood pressure. The results of deep breath relaxation obtained p-value = 0.011 on systole blood pressure and p-value = 0.002 on diastole blood pressure (<0.05). Conclusion: There is an effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy and deep breath relaxation on reducing high blood pressure in hypertensive patients in Selajambe village, Kuningan Regency, 2024. Hypertensive patients can combine drug therapy and relaxation as part of controlling blood pressure.
