Abstract

Background & Objective: Cholesterol is one of the components of fat or lipids that is essential for the body, in addition to carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Cholesterol testing in the laboratory can be performed using two types of methods, namely automatic technique testing (POCT) and simple technique testing (photometer). This study aims to determine the difference in cholesterol test results using the POCT method and the photometer method. Method: This study is analytical in nature, using 30 venous blood samples from outpatients at Kraton Pekalongan Regional General Hospital. The examination was conducted using the POCT method with a photometer. The data were analyzed using normality tests and Wilcoxon tests using SPSS. Result: The average cholesterol test result using the POCT method was 173.37 mg/dl, while the photometer method yielded a result of 127.77 mg/dl. The statistical test results showed (sig value = 0.000 < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between the two methods. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the cholesterol results obtained by the POCT method and the photometer.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Toddlerhood is a golden period that significantly influences a child’s future growth and development. One key effort to detect developmental delays is through the Early Detection and Intervention for Growth and Development (SDIDTK) program. Low program coverage in certain areas, including the Simpang Gambir Community Health Center, calls for an evaluation of its implementation. Method: This study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive-analytic design. A total of 30 toddlers registered at the Simpang Gambir Health Center were selected as samples. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods with the chi-square test to assess the relationship between birth weight, nutritional status, family income, and parental education with developmental status. Result: Most toddlers (24 out of 30, or 80%) demonstrated development appropriate to their age. Bivariate analysis revealed no significant relationship between birth weight (p = 0.169), nutritional status (p = 0.169), or family income (p = 0.531) and developmental status. However, parental education showed a near-significant association (p = 0.059), indicating its likely impact on toddler development. Conclusion: Most toddlers showed appropriate development. Although birth weight, nutrition, and income were not significantly related, parental education likely influences developmental outcomes and should be a focus of future interventions.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Work-related fatigue remains a significant concern in occupational health and safety, particularly in roles that demand high levels of physical exertion, such as fuel transportation. This study seeks to compare factors contributing to fatigue among fuel truck operators at Fuel Terminal Biak with findings from two prior investigations: one involving waste collectors in Kendari, and another examining lifting equipment operators at PT Pelindo IV Kendari Branch. The analysis focuses on three primary variables: workload, employment duration (tenure), and working hours or shift patterns. Method: All three studies applied a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design and utilized chi-square tests for statistical analysis. Result: The findings suggest that workload and job tenure consistently exhibit a significant correlation with fatigue across all occupational groups examined. In contrast, the impact of work hours appears inconsistent, with notable influence from contextual factors such as sleep quality and the implementation of night shifts. Conclusion: These results highlight the need for customized work scheduling and comprehensive fatigue management. The study underscores the importance of targeted interventions by employers and policymakers through strategies such as balanced workload distribution, structured rest periods, and ergonomic support. Such efforts are particularly critical in physically demanding and high-risk industries like fuel distribution, where fatigue poses direct threats to safety and operational efficiency.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) commonly experience shortness of breath due to impaired myocardial contractility, which leads to reduced cardiac output and subsequently decreases systemic blood circulation. This condition can result in several complications such as dyspnea, orthopnea, exertional dyspnea, paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea (PND), edema, ascites, cardiogenic shock, and decreased oxygen saturation. Patients who exhibit clinical signs and symptoms of heart failure often present with actual or potential nursing problems, which can affect basic human needs, such as decreased cardiac output. One of the appropriate nursing interventions for this issue is monitoring the patient’s daily fluid intake and output. The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the nursing intervention of fluid intake and output monitoring in hospitalized CHF patients. Method: This study employs a descriptive approach using a case study design. The respondents in this case were two patients diagnosed with CHF. The nursing intervention involved measuring the patients’ fluid intake and output over a 24-hour period and evaluating the outcomes by calculating fluid balance. Result: The results of the nursing care showed that Patient 1 had a fluid balance of -300 ml and Patient 2 had a fluid balance of -580 ml. Conclusion: These findings suggest that the intervention of fluid intake and output monitoring can be applied to CHF patients to improve their quality of life.
