Abstract

Background & Objective: An elderly person is someone who has reached the age of 60 or above. The WHO classifies the elderly into four categories: middle age between 45 and 59 years old, elderly between 60 and 74 years old, old between 75 and 90 years old, and very old above 90 years old. Living arrangements can cause stress for the elderly, as is the case for those in nursing homes. This study aims to determine the effect of audio therapy using recitations from the Qur'an on reducing stress levels among the elderly at the Harapan Kita Social Welfare Home for the Elderly in Palembang. Method: This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post-test design. In this study, the sample was given a pretest (initial observation) before the intervention, followed by the intervention, and then a posttest (final observation). The population in this study was all elderly people at the Harapan Kita Palembang Social Welfare Home for the Elderly in 2024, with a sample size of 35 respondents. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling. Result: The results of the study showed that there was an effect of audio murottal Qur'an therapy on reducing stress levels in the elderly (p.value = 0.001). Conclusion: Audio murottal Qur'an therapy is effective in reducing stress levels in the elderly. It is hoped that this therapy can be applied as a non-pharmacological intervention in social institutions and nursing services.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Decreased consciousness is one of the signs of cerebral perfusion disorders that we often find in patients with head injuries. Head injuries are traumatic disorders of brain function, accompanied by interstitial bleeding in the brain substance without disrupting brain continuity. According to the WHO, 69 million people worldwide experience head injuries each year. Africa and Southeast Asia have the highest number of cases at 56%, while North America has the lowest at 25%. In Indonesia, based on the Basic Health Research report, head injury ranks third among the most common injuries, with a percentage of 11.9%. The purpose of this study is to determine the motor response in patients with decreased consciousness following verbal stimulation and Quranic recitation interventions. Method: A case study of patients with severe head injuries and decreased consciousness involving non-pharmacological interventions with verbal stimulation and Al-Qur'an murotal therapy on motor response changes conducted daily for 7 days of treatment with each session lasting 30 minutes per day. Result: After verbal stimulation intervention by telling stories and listening to the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Surah Yasin from the Qur'an for 30 minutes, there was a change in the motor response of patients with decreased consciousness, which was evaluated by assessing the GCS. Conclusion: Verbal stimulation intervention through storytelling and recitation of the Qur'an has an effect on changes in motor responses in patients with decreased consciousness.

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a crucial stage of growth marked by physical and hormonal changes, including the onset of menstruation. The consumption of fast food, which is high in fat and free radicals, can increase the production of prostaglandins—compounds that trigger menstrual pain. Meanwhile, a lack of physical activity may reduce blood flow to the uterus, worsening dysmenorrhea. Objective: To determine the relationship between fast food consumption patterns and physical activity with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among female adolescents. Methods: This is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 135 10th and 11th-grade female students selected using total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods (Chi-square test). Results: A total of 59.3% of respondents had a high frequency of fast food consumption, and 38.5% engaged in high-intensity physical activity. The Chi-square test showed a significant relationship between fast food consumption (p=0.002) and physical activity (p=0.001) with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between fast food consumption patterns and physical activity with the incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among 10th and 11th-grade female students at SMK Lab Business School Tangerang.

Abstract

Background & Objective: This study aimed to describe the stress levels experienced by Indonesian elderly caregivers (nurses) working in Japan, with a focus on their demographic characteristics and psychological well-being. Method: A descriptive quantitative design was applied to portray stress without examining relationships among variables. The population comprised 51 Indonesian caregivers, all of whom were included as respondents using a total sampling technique. Data were collected online from July to August 2025 through a validated 12-item Zarit Burden Interview questionnaire and analyzed with descriptive statistics using SPSS. Demographic information such as gender and age was also obtained. Result: Results revealed that most respondents were female (88.2%) and in the 26–35 age group (52.9%). Stress level analysis showed that 39.2% experienced low stress, 41.2% moderate stress, and 19.6% high stress. These findings indicate that while most caregivers manage caregiving demands adequately, a significant proportion experiences moderate to high stress that may affect health and job performance. Conclusion: The study concludes that gender, age, and workplace conditions are key determinants of caregiver stress and recommends targeted mental health interventions, supportive workplace policies, and stress management training to reduce psychological burdens. Future research should incorporate longitudinal and mixed-method approaches to identify causal factors and coping mechanisms to better inform preventive strategies.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Diabetic ulcers are a serious complication of diabetes requiring appropriate wound management to accelerate healing and prevent further complications. This study aims to determine the effect of the moist wound healing method on wound conditions in patients with diabetic ulcers. Method: A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest one-group approach was used. Twelve diabetic ulcer patients were selected purposively. Wound conditions were observed directly on the first and seventh days after treatment using the moist wound healing method. Data were analyzed with a paired t-test to compare wound conditions before and after intervention. Result: There was a significant decrease in wound size (mean from 15.5 ± 0.45 cm² to 10.2 ± 0.53 cm²), wound depth, amount of exudate, and type of necrotic tissue. Granulation tissue increased significantly (mean from 1.6 ± 0.07 to 3.4 ± 0.07), indicating improved wound healing. Conclusion: The moist wound healing method significantly improves the wound condition in diabetic ulcer patients by accelerating healing, reducing wound size, exudate, and necrotic tissue, and promoting granulation tissue formation. This method is recommended as an effective therapy for managing diabetic ulcers.
