Abstract

Backgorund: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a condition in which thrombus forms in the inner veins, especially the lower legs, which can cause serious complications in the form of pulmonary embolism. Risk factors for DVT can include immobilization, hemostasis disorders, metabolic disorders, and systemic diseases that affect vascularization. Method: In certain cases, DVT can appear at the same time as other diseases that aggravate the clinical course. It was reported that a 20-year-old man with the main complaint was pain and swelling in the lower limbs since a few days before being admitted to the hospital. Patients also complain of high fever and bleeding gums. Physical examination found that the lower limbs were swollen, tender, and warm. Results: The results of the supporting examination showed the presence of thrombus in the profunda vein through doppler ultrasound, so the diagnosis of DVT was established. Hematological examinations showed neutrophilia, thrombocytopenia, lipid profiles showed increased total cholesterol, while ECG examinations supported the presence of myocardial ischemia. Patients were managed with a multidisciplinary approach: antibiotics, anticoagulants, and risk factor control. Conclusion: This case illustrates the complexity of treating DVT in young patients with high-risk comorbidities, as well as emphasizing the importance of early detection and individualized therapy to prevent further complications.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Narcotics are substances or drugs derived from plants or non-plants, either synthetic or semi-synthetic. Narcotics can cause decreased consciousness, drowsiness, loss of sensation, and may also reduce or eliminate pain. However, they can lead to dependence and are classified into several categories based on their properties and effects. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety among rehabilitation patients. Method: This research uses a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach, the number of respondents in this study was 89 rehabilitant at the BNN Rehabilitation Center in Tanah Merah East Kalimantan . By distributing questionnaires which will later be filled in by respondents and data processing will beb carried out using the SPSS version 27 application to test correlation. Result: The results obtained from the p-value of the relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety are 0.961 < 0.05. The conclusion is that there is no relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety in rehabilitation, as follows high self-efficacy 69.7% and no anxiety 50.6%. Conclusion: This study concludes that there is no significant relationship between self-efficacy and anxiety among rehabilitation patients. Although most respondents demonstrated high self-efficacy (69.7%) and no anxiety (50.6%), the findings indicate that self-efficacy does not have a direct influence on the level of anxiety in this population. Other factors, such as environmental support, coping mechanisms, or duration of rehabilitation, may play a more substantial role in influencing anxiety levels. Further research is recommended to explore these contributing factors in greater depth.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Pneumonia is one of the serious diseases that occurs in the lower respiratory tract. This disease is one of the causes of death among children, especially those under five years of age. This condition is of great concern to health workers, especially nurses, because proper treatment can help reduce mortality rates. Therefore, quality and comprehensive nursing care is needed so that the healing process runs optimally. This study aims to determine how the quality of nursing care can affect the length of hospital stay in children with pneumonia. Method: This study used a literature review approach by searching Google Scholar for publications from 2020 to 2025. The keywords used were “children with pneumonia,” “nursing care,” “length of stay,” and synonyms such as “pneumonia in children,” “quality of nursing care for children,” and “duration of hospitalization.” Result: Six articles that met the inclusion criteria were found. The analysis showed that 83.3% (n=5) of these articles proved that the quality of nursing care had an effect on reducing the length of hospital stay, while 16.7% (n=1) of the articles highlighted the importance of a non-pharmacological approach to reducing children's anxiety during treatment. Nurses play a central role in every stage of nursing care, from observation, education, and therapy to interprofessional collaboration. Conclusion: These findings confirm that comprehensive nursing care focused on children's needs can accelerate the healing process and reduce the length of hospital stays. Therefore, the quality of nursing care needs to be continuously improved in order to have a positive impact on the quality of life and safety of pediatric patients in healthcare facilities.

Abstract

Background & Objective: Hypertension is a major degenerative disease, especially among the elderly, and is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular disease and stroke. The World Health Organization defines hypertension as systolic blood pressure ≥140 mmHg and/or diastolic ≥90 mmHg. This study aimed to analyze the effect of watermelon juice and cucumber juice on reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Method: This study used a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest–posttest approach. The research was conducted on January 6, 2025, involving 57 hypertensive patients. Respondents were divided into two intervention groups: watermelon juice and cucumber juice. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate statistical tests. Results: After watermelon juice administration, most respondents’ systolic blood pressure shifted from stage 2 hypertension to pre-hypertension (60.7%), and diastolic blood pressure also predominantly reached the pre-hypertension category (82.1%). After cucumber juice administration, systolic blood pressure mostly decreased to pre-hypertension (60.7%), and all respondents’ diastolic blood pressure reached the pre-hypertension category (100%). Watermelon juice significantly reduced systolic blood pressure (p = 0.000 < 0.05). Cucumber juice also significantly reduced systolic blood pressure (p = 0.000 < 0.05). There was a significant difference between watermelon and cucumber juice in reducing diastolic blood pressure (p = 0.014 < 0.05). Conclusion: Both watermelon juice and cucumber juice effectively reduce blood pressure in hypertensive patients. However, there is a significant difference between the two interventions in reducing diastolic blood pressure.
