Abstract

This study examined the use of film media on Indonesian Language. The problem revealed was how is student learning outcomes, and what is the outcomes difference between learning to analyze the intrinsic elements of literary works using film media and using conventional learning approaches in class XI students of SMA N 1 Tumbang Titi. This type of research is experimental research. The design used was Post-test Only Control Group Design. Data analysis was done by normality test, homogeneity test, and t-test (Paired Simple t-Test). Data collection techniques in the form of tests. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be concluded that student learning outcomes analysis the intrinsic elements of literary works after being given conventional learning is 54.38 while student learning outcomes analyze the intrinsic elements of literary works after using film media is 71, 67. Besides, after analyzing the data statistically, the results show that there are significant differences between the learning outcomes of the material analyzing the intrinsic elements of literary work between those who use film media and conventional learning. Indonesian language learning material becomes the intrinsic elements of literature in class XI students of SMA N 1 Tumbang Titi using film media can also improve student learning outcomes and contribute to the scale of effectiveness of 32,64. Thus, learning with film media can be used by teachers in the field of learning Indonesian in analyzing intrinsic elements of literary works. Keywords: Utilization of Film Media, Intrinsic Elements of Literary Work

Abstract

The study investigates the increase in students mathematical problem-solving abilities after being treated with the Jigsaw cooperative model on the Pythagorean theorem. The method used in this research was an experimental method with pre-experimental designs and the research design was One Group Pretest Postest Design. The population was all students of VIII grade SMPN 1 Toba who were spread into four classes. Then the sample were students of VIII B class who were taken using the cluster random sampling technique. Data collection techniques used measurement techniques and data collection tools used problem-solving ability tests in descriptions. After the data was tested on the sample, then the data analysis was then carried out to test the hypothesis. But first, doing the prerequisite test was the data normality test. The normality test of this data used Chi-Square (χ 2). Obtained data normality test results χ 2count = 2.75 and χ2 table = 7.81. Because χ2count <χ2table, then the data was normally distributed. The next test was to do a one-group t-test with a significance level (𝛼) = 0.05. The results obtained tcount = 2, 541 and t table = 1.961. Because tcount> ttable, it can be concluded that there was an increase in students mathematical abilities after being given a Jigsaw cooperative learning model. Keywords: Cooperative Learning Model, Jigsaw, Problem Solving

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine undergraduate students' reading comprehension in the class of 2017, Mandarin Language Education Study Program, Universitas Tanjungpura by administering the HSK Level IV test. The reading comprehension was divided into three sections: vocabulary, structure, sentence arrangement, and understanding of the reading text's content. The test results showed that the average score obtained by undergraduate students only reached the level of completion. This case indicated that undergraduate students' understanding of vocabulary in reading reaches 77%, undergraduate students' understanding of structure and sentence arrangement is only 52.7%, and student's understanding of the content of the text reaches 70%. Based on the results, it can be concluded that undergraduate students lack of understanding of the structure and sentence arrangement contained in the reading problem on the HSK level IV test. Keywords: Reading, HSK Level IV, Comprehension Ability

Abstract

Narrative Text has been used in the National Examination of English Language for students in Junior High School in Indonesia. This research attempts to help the students in comprehending the Narrative Text especially the elements of the story, main ideas and spesific informations. This classroom action research study focuses on the use of Cooperative Story Mapping technique to improve students’ reading comprehension. The subjects of the research were 27 students of class B in SMP Tarsisius. The research findings showed that students’ reading comprehension enhanced through the use of Cooperative Story Mapping technique. The students actively engaged in the story mapping process. It made much easier for the students to identify the elements of the story and provided creative way for the teacher in solving the problem for teaching a narrative text. Students enjoyed reading the narrative text by using Cooperative Story Mapping. Future studies should be developed by analyzing the topic in experimental point of view so it creates an ideal learning experience.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the influence of Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning outcomes in surface area concepts. The method used in this study was an experimental method with a quasi-experimental form and the research design was a posttest only control design. The population of this research was 9th-grade students of 18 junior high schools in Pontianak and were divided into five classes. The sample was 9th D and 9th E grade taken using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection techniques used measurement techniques and data collection tools with a description test to determine student learning outcomes. After the data were tested in the two samples, data analysis performed to test the hypothesis. Before testing the hypothesis, the prerequisite test was the normality test. The normality test was not normal then the data analysis used Mann Whitney U-Test. From the data analysis results, obtained z count value of 1,87, while the z table value of 1,64 for 𝛼 = 0.05. Because of the z count > z table, it is concluded that there is an influence of Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning on student learning outcomes. Keywords: Cooperative Learning, Surface Area, Two Stay Two Stray

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to produce a digital comic-based learning media on youth pledge event topic for fifth grade students in SDI Al-Azhar 21 Pontianak in the form of a pdf document with a file size of 34 MB and contains the main material of the 2013 curriculum in second semester of fifth grade on the theme of 7 events in The life of Subtheme 1 national events during the colonial period has fulfilled the basic competencies, indicators, and learning objectives and is appropriate according to the assessment of media experts, material experts, language experts, teachers, and students. The feasibility of digital comics based on experts' assessment, the average percentage from the media aspect is 93% with very feasible criteria, from the material aspect 94% has very feasible criteria and 73% language aspect has feasible criteria. The feasibility of digital comics in the first phase of the trial is based on the response from the teacher, 98% had very feasible criteria, and 88% of students had very feasible criteria. In the second stage of the trial, based on the teacher's response to use, 100% of the criteria were very feasible, and 92% of the students' assessments were very feasible. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the increase in vocabulary of VII A grade students of State Junior High School 4 Ketapang (SMPN 4) Ketapang using the Game method. The form of research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). Data collection techniques used test techniques in the form of written tests. The data collection instrument used a question sheet. Data analysis used interactive model qualitative data analysis (Miles & Huberman), which includes: data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results showed that learning with the came method can improve students' vocabulary. In general, the more repetition of students will remember the more vocabulary mastery (the highest increase reached 76.15%) if repetition was only done once in each meeting, as did in Cycle II (the highest increase reached 86.00%). This study concluded that learning with the game method can increase the vocabulary of VIIA grade students in SMPN 4 Ketapang. Keywords: Vocabulary, Game Method, Mastery

Abstract

Herein the culturally related human action of grouping people is examined as a phenomenon that has existing for many years in our global society. Today grouping people can be understood and labelled as stratification, segregation and streaming and can most readily be observed within schools and educational institutions. These grouping efforts and actions are addressed in related literature as sorting, tracking and categorization that may be at times tacit in classrooms and educational programs; nonetheless there are often life-long implications for streaming each student. Some education theorists may believe educators can sort students via assessment and evaluation of student academic ability however such attempts can be quite problematic, causing feelings of exclusion, marginalization and rejection. Academic ability is currently much more than a score on a summative assessment as academic ability has many social (home, community, engagement) and education elements (pre-school, instruction quality, class size, test bias). This iterative review illuminates issues, problems and concerns that may lead to possible resolutions for educators when grouping students.
