Abstract

This study aims to: 1) to determine whether the Brain Based Teaching approach can improve students 'mathematics learning outcomes and 2) to find out how much percentage improvement in students' mathematics learning outcomes after applying the Brain Based Teaching approach. This research is an action research conducted in 2 cycles. The subject of this research is the students of class VII-1 MTsN Damuli Pekan which amounts to 40 people. Methods of data collection using tests and observations. Data analysis used is quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results showed that there was an increase in the students' mathematics learning outcomes from cycle I and cycle II. Percentage increase of pratindakan result, cycle I and cycle II result of student's mathematics learning that is 65 % with mean value of mathematics learning result 83,5. Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the improvement of the ability of each aspect and the overall aspects of problem solving of students mathematics, with learning using IMPROVE method accompanied by embedded test to lead to the purpose of this study is to examine: (a) students' mathematical problem solving ability seen from each aspect and overall aspects before and after learning using IMPROVE method along with embedded test, and regular learning along with embedded test; (b) student activities and attitudes toward learning by IMPROVE method along with embedded test, (c) problems that arise during learning by applying IMPROVE method along with embedded test. This study is an experimental study in the form of pretest-postes control group design, with the subject of 81 students at AN-NIZAM Private High School in Medan. The instrument used to collect the data in this study consists of mathematical tests containing mathematical problems to measure students 'mathematical problem solving skills on the subject of Equation and Quadratic Inequality, student attitude questionnaire with Likert scale model to see students' attitudes toward learning by IMPROVE method accompanied by embedded test and observation sheet of student activity in learning Keywords: Problem Solving Abilities, Improve and Embedded Test Methods

Abstract

Abstract The research is quasi experiment. The population in this research were all of students’ in Junior High School at SMP Swasta Darul Ilmi Murni Deliserdang. Then randomly were selected two classes. Experiment class were given learning through Realistic Mathematics Education and control class were given conventional learning. The instrument are consisted of: mathematical representation ability test and social skills of the student questionnaire. Data was analyzed using two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Based on the analysis obtained some results, they are: (1) The increasing of mathematical representation’s ability who received lesson through Realistic Mathematics Education is higher than students’ who received conventional learning, (2) The increasing of students’ social skills who received lesson through Realistic Mathematics Education is higher than students who received conventional learning, (3) There is no interaction between learning approach and mathematical early ability to increase mathematical representation ability, (4) There is no interaction between learning approach and mathematical early ability to increase social skills of student. Descriptively also studied of the answers of the problem’s formulation, it was : students’ activity during learning using Realistic Mathematics Education was categorized as good. Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine The Effect Of Drill Method On The Student Result of Mathematics Learning In Pertiwi Junior High School Medan. This research was conducted in VIII-2 class and VIII-7 class Pertiwi Junior High School Medan. The method which is used in this research is quasi-experiment with pretest-posttest control group research design. The sample was determined by using purposive sample technique. This research sample are 50 students, with 25 students for experimental class and 25 students for control class. The instrument used in this reserach is a test instrument of multiple choices questions. Data from the test instrument’s result were analyzed quantitatively. Based on the analysis, the average score of students learning result in experiment class is 74,24, and 69,28 for the control class students. It is based on hypotesis test result by using t test to the posttest data with n = 25 and α = 5%. The result is the value of tcount = 2,80 while ttable = 2,20. It shows that t count > t table, so it can be concluded that there are effects of drill method to the student result of mathematics learning in algebra factorization. Abstract

Abstract The study aims to reveal the elements of mathematics contained in the game that is a traditional game. The research method used is survey explorative with qualitative approach. Instruments used in the form of interviews, direct observation / observation, literature studies and consultation with experts etnomatematics. The study found that in the cradle of the mathematical element in the form of flat geometry, the original number, useful for fine motor training, and to train character education in children from an early age in the form of honesty, discipline and togetherness. Abstract

Abstract Problems that occur in learning circle one of them is the low ability of students in understanding the concept. Understanding broad concepts of circles can be helped by using teaching materials as learning media. The teaching material should be a didactic design that is designed with due regard to the concepts, principles, object of study, and characteristics of the students. The formulation of the problem in this research is how didactic design development to improve the ability to solve the problem of student circle in accordance with obstacle learning? Abstract

This study aims to find out (1) How students' mathematical understanding ability of IX MTs S Nurul Amaliyah Tanjung Morawa prior to the implementation of Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy on the subject of How Matching Numbers (2) How Student Mathematical Understanding Ability IX MTs S Nurul Amaliyah Tanjung Morawa after the implementation of the Think Talk Write (TTW) strategy on the topic power of numbers. The method used in this research is classroom action research. From the results of observation and ability test in solving the problem of the numbers of rank given to the students, found the location of student errors are: students are less interested in learning mathematics, students do not know what is known from the problem and students are less thorough in solving the problem. The percentage of classical completeness and the average grade of the initial test classes are still low at 27.5% and 54.63. Implementation of think talk write strategy can improve student learning outcomes. This is marked by increasing the percentage of classical completeness and grade point average in the first cycle by 40% and 56.88 to 67.5% and 67.00 in cycle II and to 92.5% and 77.50 at the end of cycle III . Application of Think Talk Write strategy is also able to improve students' mathematical understanding ability. It can be seen by the percentage in the first cycle of 58.03% to 66.24% in cycle II and to 76.24% at the end of cycle III. Abstract

Abstrak Constructivistic learning is a learning with students construct their own knowledge and understanding, it is related to the process of learning to teach mathematics. The existence of Constructivistic paradigm affects the learning strategy applied by the teacher. In the learning rocess acts as a facilitator and students as an active learner so that learning is not centered on the teacher but centered on the students. Implementation of mathematics learning process is expected to use constructivist-oriented learning model, one of which is learning cycle learning model. this article aims to know the improvement of understanding and application of mathematical concepts of students with contextual approach Teaching and Learning through Learning Cycle on the material of building flat side space. This article is the result of Class Action Research where the cycle cycle review consists of four stages. Based on the results of the study concluded that the contextual approach through learning Cycle can improve understanding and application of concepts. Abstract

Abstract The main problem in this study is the number of students who feel overwhelmed in solving math problems, especially in the form of story problems on the subject linear program. So this study aims to determine the students' traits in solving the story problem on the subject of linear programming, through research "Descriptive Qualitative". The subject of this research is the students of class XI SMK Ma'arif Husnul Khatimah. Data were collected using observation, test and interview methods. Furthermore, the data obtained are then analyzed, based on qualitative data analysis through 3 stages of flow ie data reduction, data presentation and verification and conclusion drawing. The results showed that, of the total 6 students who were subjected to the study, most (4 students) were unable to achieve the four aspects of capability observed in this study. The other 2 students, each capable of working on the problem up to the aspects of ability 1 understand the problem) and aspects of ability 2 (make a plan of completion). As for the aspect of ability 3 (executing the completion plan) and the ability aspect 4 (interpreting the results obtained), no students are able to do the problem up to two aspects of this ability. Based on the results of the nalysis of student answers at the time of the test and interview, it can be seen that because of the inability of students understand the problem given is to write things that are known and asked and make the pemisalan, thus causing students constrained in the next step Keywords: Ability, Linear Program, Story Problem

Abstract

The researchis quasi experiment research. The researsch aims to determine the effect of guided discovery learning method to mathematical problem solving ability. Population in this study were SMP Swasta 2 TAMORA, and the sampel is IX-1 class students. The instrument in the research is the test of mathematical probling solving ability. The result of the research were analyzed by correlation test is 0,701. And thitung 4,610 > ttabel 2,07, so there is the significant influence between guided discovery learning on students’ mathematical problem solving ability.
