Abstract

The development paradigm in the world today is not only about economic growth but also discusses social development that is expected to create prosperity; even the first goal of sustainable development agreed upon by all countries is poverty alleviation. As a developing country, overcoming this problem is inseparable from external assistance. For decades, foreign debt and investment have financed Indonesia's growth. This study investigates the direct and indirect effects of foreign debt and foreign investment on poverty, with economic growth as an intervening variable. This study uses a quantitative methodology, using the path analysis method in the data processing. The results state that the foreign debt variable hurts monetary development. Through economic growth, foreign debt also has a negative direct and indirect impact on poverty in Indonesia. The foreign investment variable has no direct or indirect effect on poverty in Indonesia and does not impact economic growth. In addition, this study shows that Indonesian poverty is not affected by economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of economic growth based on sectoral composition on the rural poverty rate of 34 provinces in Indonesia in the 2011-2020 period. The method used is panel data regression because the data combines 2011-2020 time series data and cross-sectional data from 34 provinces in Indonesia using the REM model (Random Effect Model). The variables used in this study are the GRDP rate of the agricultural sector, the GRDP rate of the non-agricultural sector, the average length of schooling, the open unemployment rate, and village funds on the level of rural poverty in Indonesia. The results showed that simultaneously, all independent variables had a significant effect on the level of rural poverty in Indonesia, and partially, the agricultural sector GDP rate, average length of schooling, and open unemployment rate significantly reduced poverty. However, the GRDP rate variable in the non-agricultural sector and village funds has no significant effect on reducing poverty.

Abstract

This study evaluates the efficiency of local government expenditures in the health sector, crucial for growth and productivity. Using Data Envelopment Analysis, it examines pre- and post-decentralization periods. Before decentralization, only Makassar (Sulawesi) and Gianyar (Bali and Nusa Tenggara) achieved full efficiency. Post-decentralization, Bengkalis, Kota Pematang Siantar, and Simalungun (Sumatera) reached efficiency. Findings reveal that Papua’s regions have the lowest efficiency scores, while Sulawesi’s are the highest. Papua averages 0.80, below the national average of 0.90, whereas Sulawesi scores 0.93. Overall, efficiency improved post-decentralization. The study highlights the need for government efforts to enhance health expenditure efficiency both before and after fiscal decentralization to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

This study has the intent and purpose to test and understand how strong the influence of population, economic growth and education level is on the poverty rate in Kudus Regency in the period 2010-2023. This research uses a secondary quantitative approach. The data analysis used by the researcher is multiple linear regression. Based on the results of the study show that an increase in population tends to reduce the poverty rate. At the same time, economic growth has a positive and significant influence in reducing poverty in Kudus Regency. However, the education level variable does not have a significant influence. Based on these findings indicate that an increase in population and economic growth can contribute to reducing poverty. However, there needs to be support with efforts to improve the quality of human resources. Based on this study, it has limitations because it only uses secondary data that is aggregate.

Abstract

This research examines the transformation of indigenous rituals that once played an important role in environmental conservation into commercial activities, and the impact of this change on the ecology, social and economy of communities. Commercialization of traditional rituals often reduces their effectiveness in maintaining environmental balance, triggers overexploitation of natural resources, and causes damage to ecosystems. The impact is not only limited to environmental aspects, but also affects the social and cultural structure of the community. In the context of accounting, this change reflects a shift from an approach that focuses on ecological and social values towards a financial profit orientation. This research emphasizes the importance of adopting a holistic accounting approach that considers financial, ecological and social impacts in a balanced manner. This approach is crucial to ensure that indigenous rituals can still serve as a means of environmental preservation and community welfare amidst commercialization pressures, so that the balance between traditional values and modern economic demands is maintained.

Abstract

Pandansari Market is one of the markets with great potential located in Balikpapan City. However, this market is still not optimal in its management and utilization. This study aims to identify the needs of buyers and traders as a basis for formulating policy recommendations. Economic aspects play an important role as an indicator of optimal utilization. This study uses primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained through surveys and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). This study uses several analysis methods such as needs analysis, Strength Weakness Opportunity Threat (SWOT) analysis, and Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) analysis. Based on the results of the study, it is necessary to optimize and revitalize Pandansari Market. Strategies that can be carried out to optimize Pandansari Market are divided into two, namely physical and non-physical strategies. Based on the calculation results, the revitalization alternative that provides the greatest benefit for Pandansari Market is utilization as a food court. This is based on the benefit and cost ratio of 14.64 (taking into account social benefits). In addition to being financially and economically feasible, utilization as a food court can attract a wider consumer demographic. This is important to ensure the sustainability of traditional markets.

Abstract

This study will seek to investigate the effect of access to finance and managerial capability on driving SME growth in Bali, Indonesia. The study used a quantitative research design with a population of 100 legally registered SMEs in Bali, with data collected through questionnaires. The analytical method applied for testing the relationships among variables is PLS-SEM. These results indicate that access to finance is positive for the growth of SMEs, which would lead to business expansion. The interaction between managerial capability and access to finance is also significant in determining growth, underlining that higher managerial competence enhances SMEs' ability to leverage financing for better growth. These findings underline that access to finance needs to be complemented with improved managerial capabilities if sustainable SME sector development is to be supported. These findings imply that policymakers and development programs, apart from the facilitation of access to finance, should be targeting training and capacity-building for entrepreneurship management skills.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors that lead the community around Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University Tulungagung to become entangled with Plecit Bank and the impact of Plecit Bank loans on the welfare of the surrounding community. The method used is a case study. Data collection techniques involve direct interviews in the field. This research employs non-probability sampling with purposive sampling. Purposive sampling is used in this study because it aligns with the research objectives. Based on the research, it is concluded that the practices of Plecit Bank are driven by the ease of applying for loans. Three factors influence the community around Sayyid Ali Rahmatullah State Islamic University Tulungagung in taking loans: economic, social, and psychological. Furthermore, neither informant feels assisted by Plecit Bank loans. This is due to the very high interest rates ranging from 25% to 30%, or between 250,000 to 300,000 for a loan of 1,000,000. Consequently, this situation leaves the informants in a state of insecurity and reluctance to take out loans from Plecit Bank.
