Abstract

Every individual, including persons with disabilities, has the right to work and a livelihood that is decent for humanity. This study aims to analyze the conditions of participation of persons with disabilities in the labor market and identify potential discrimination of persons with disabilities in the labor market in the public and private sectors in Magelang City. The research used a qualitative approach with analysis techniques developed by Miles and Huberman. The results show that there have been inclusion efforts made to increase the absorption of disabilities in the public and private sector labor market. Other findings show that there is no local regulation in Magelang City that regulates workers with disabilities. Although some public agencies have shown commitment in employing people with disabilities, similar responses from private companies are still minimal. In addition, it was identified that there are still people with disabilities who experience different treatment when applying for jobs. Although there have been inclusion efforts and commitment from several public agencies in employing people with disabilities, stronger local regulations and stricter government supervision are still needed to ensure equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities and address discrimination and stigma in both the public and private sectors.

Abstract

The economy is the leading indicator of a country's progress seen from the financial services sector. The role of banking is to help the community and accelerate economic turnover. This study aims to determine the structure, behavior, and performance of the banking industry in Indonesia. The data in this study used the Annual Financial Statements of Banks in Indonesia in 2020. The analytical tools used are the Concentration Ratio (CR), the Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI), and Market Entry Barriers. The results of the SCP analysis show that the Indonesian banking industry has a high oligopoly market structure where the decision-making of a company can affect other companies; the MES value of the Banking industry between 49.38 percent and 53.48 percent indicates that in the banking industry, it is tough for new competitors to compete with banking companies that already control the market. Regarding behavioral strategies, the banking industry should pay attention to technological innovation, ease of access, and determination of community market share. In terms of company performance, based on the return on asset data and return on equity, PT Bank Central Asia is the company with the best and most stable profitability performance.

Abstract

In alignment with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, this paper conducts a bibliometric analysis of “No Poverty” research to illuminate key trends, influential authors, and impactful topics. Despite global efforts, poverty remains pervasive, prompting the need for scholarly inquiry. Analyzing data from academic databases like Scopus, our study identifies a minimal global interest in “No Poverty” research, with only 17 publications over 37 years. However, a noticeable increase in publications since 2011 suggests a growing scholarly attention to the topic. Journal articles dominate the publication landscape, emphasizing their role in disseminating research findings. Diverse subject areas, including social sciences, environmental science, and business management, contribute to the interdisciplinary nature of poverty studies. The analysis also identifies thematic clusters focusing on socioeconomic interventions and ecological sustainability. While current research provides valuable insights, there's a call for innovative approaches and new research themes to address emerging challenges. Overall, this analysis underscores the multidimensional nature of “No Poverty” research and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in informing evidence-based policies toward poverty eradication and sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Pekalongan Residency faces significant economic challenges, especially in terms of low labor absorption. Economic growth, unemployment rate, minimum wage and investment are some of the factors that have the potential to influence it greatly. This study aims to estimate the effect of GRDP, district minimum wage, unemployment, and investment on labor absorption in the Pekalongan Residency in 2017–2022. The analysis technique used is panel data regression. The Chow and Hausman test analysis shows an optimal fixed effect model. The test results show that unemployment and district minimum wage affected labor absorption in the Pekalongan Residency in 2017-2022. Gross regional domestic product and investment did not affect labor absorption in the Pekalongan Residency in 2017-2022.

Abstract

This study analyzes the convergence phenomenon between districts/cities in South Sulawesi. In addition, this study will analyze the influence of socio-economic variables on the value of GRDP per capita, which is an indicator of regional convergence. This research is included in the type of quantitative research using secondary data, the data structure of which is panel data. The panel data consists of 10 years of observation, namely 2014 to 2023, for 24 districts/cities in South Sulawesi. Panel regression model testing using the Fixed Effect Model. The convergence phenomenon is seen using two approaches, namely sigma convergence and beta convergence, consisting of absolute and conditional convergence. The results found that the sigma convergence approach concluded a convergence between South Sulawesi regions. The analysis results with the absolute convergence method concluded that convergence occurred, and conditional convergence also found the same results. Regarding the influence of socio-economic variables, it was found that only economic variables had a significant and positive effect on GRDP per capita. This finding implies that the convergence between regions in South Sulawesi indicates that the economic development process is on the right track. In addition, it is also a direct indication of an increase in the quality of life that leads to a decrease in inter-regional inequality in South Sulawesi.

Abstract

Gross domestic product is still the leading indicator in determining economic growth. As the economy in Indonesia grows, it is necessary to examine the factors driving gross domestic product. This study aims to analyze the effect of foreign investment, inflation, gender empowerment index, and corruption perception index on gross domestic product (GDP) in Indonesia in the period 2013-2022. The research method used is quantitative, with a panel data regression approach. The data used is secondary data obtained from various official sources, such as the Central Bureau of Statistics and Transparency International Indonesia. The dependent variable in this study is GDP, while the independent variables are foreign investment, inflation rate, gender empowerment index, and corruption perception index. The analysis results show that foreign investment and the gender empowerment index have a positive and significant effect on GDP, while inflation negatively affects GDP. Meanwhile, the corruption perception index does not affect Indonesia's GDP. These findings provide a deeper understanding of the factors affecting Indonesia's economic growth and the implications for future economic policy.

Abstract

A country is in good condition with its national economy if there are several positive macroeconomic indicators, including increasing foreign exchange reserves, a stable balance of payments, and a decreased amount of money in circulation. This study analyzes the effect of foreign exchange reserves, balance of payments, and the amount of money in circulation of a country on the exchange rate using time series data from 2004 to 2023 and the VECM model. The causality test results did not find a causal relationship between foreign exchange reserves and the exchange rate. At the same time, the balance of payments affected the exchange rate, but not vice versa. In addition, there was no reciprocal influence between the amount of money in circulation and the exchange rate. The results of the VECM test generally show a long-term relationship and an adjustment mechanism from the short term to the long term.

Abstract

This research aims to empirically study the impact of Indonesia's anti-dumping measures on the performance of related imported products in 2011. Using the GTAP-E model, the region is divided into 9 regions and the industrial sector is grouped into 2 industries. Empirical results indicate that the imposition of a 20% Anti-Dumping Duty (BMAD) is ineffective in restricting trade from targeted countries. The GDP of non-targeted countries increased, but international trade balances correlated negatively with each BMAD imposition. Additionally, domestic prices in Indonesia appear to be high due to the implementation of BMAD, which has resulted in increased prices of iron and steel in the domestic market.

Abstract

The significance of the Human Resources (HR) function as a crucial production element is inextricably linked to economic endeavors, with HR providing numerous contributions both broadly and specifically within entrepreneurial contexts. This investigation seeks to evaluate the significance of HR as a pivotal component in bolstering the economy. This research adopts a qualitative methodology, employing a literature review approach that leverages prior data and studies as comparative and foundational material for formulating research findings in alignment with the research objectives. The data amassed originates from Indonesia's Central Statistical Agency (BPS) and encompasses databases of scholarly articles and research, including Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, ScienceDirect, and JStor. The analytical technique employed for data interpretation is deductive reasoning, aimed at extracting data and information pertinent to the subject matter of this study. The findings of this research indicate that the caliber of proficient HR can enhance economic performance, facilitate sustainable development, and increase competitiveness. Various economic challenges that can be effectively addressed through the presence of skilled HR include unemployment, poverty, and inadequate welfare. The caliber of HR is contingent upon the availability of high-quality education and optimal health conditions.
