The mission of the International Journal of Literature and Language Studies (IJLLS) is to provide readers with the development of language studies in linguistics and literature. In addition to manuscripts that center on the study, we welcome manuscripts on a wide range of topics relating to the technology used for language development, cultural impact on languages, computational linguistics, and philosophy of language. IJLLS publishes scholarly conceptual, theoretical, and empirical manuscripts on the study of language and focused on literature and linguistic analysis and development. Submissions to the journal should be readable and understandable by a wide audience. Manuscripts should therefore also focus on analysis or illustration of the issues covered, rather than merely providing a mathematical or technical coverage, which would be more suitable for a specialist journal. All manuscripts are submitted and reviewed electronically. We provide our published authors with both a quality publication and the widespread readership that comes from publishing all manuscripts online within a few weeks of acceptance. This approach ensures that published works are read and cited by the widest possible audience.

Abstract

Abstract: This study investigates the literary typology of adolescent characters in Khaled Hosseini’s novels The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and And the Mountains Echoed. Drawing upon theories of developmental psychology, literary typology, and character studies, the research examines the ways in which adolescent protagonists are constructed as complex psychological entities whose experiences reflect both individual developmental processes and broader socio-cultural realities. Particular attention is paid to issues of identity formation, moral consciousness, trauma, resilience, interpersonal attachment, and psychological maturation. Through comparative textual analysis, the study identifies recurring character models that transcend individual narratives and function as representative patterns of adolescent development. The findings suggest that Hosseini’s adolescent characters embody a dynamic interplay between personal agency and external social forces, including war, displacement, social stratification, and family disruption. Consequently, adolescence emerges not merely as a biological stage of life but as a multidimensional psychological and cultural phenomenon. The study contributes to contemporary discussions of literary characterization by demonstrating how adolescent figures serve as vehicles for exploring questions of memory, belonging, ethical responsibility, and human resilience within modern fiction.

Abstract

Abstract: This article examines the conceptual structure of “courage” from cognitive and semantic perspectives. Courage is considered one of the central moral-spiritual concepts represented in language and culture. The study investigates the prototype meaning of courage, its peripheral semantic extensions, and its emotional-evaluative components. Using cognitive linguistics, semantic field theory, and discourse analysis, the research explores how courage is conceptualized and verbalized in language. The findings reveal that courage consists of a stable conceptual core associated with bravery and resistance to fear, while peripheral meanings include persistence, sacrifice, leadership, and moral responsibility. Emotional and evaluative components further enrich the concept by linking courage with positive social and cultural values. The study contributes to understanding the organization of moral concepts within the semantic field of spirituality.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of literary translation on the representation of the horse image in English and Uzbek literary traditions. The findings reveal that while English literary tradition primarily portrays the horse as a symbol of freedom, individuality, and resistance to cruelty, Uzbek literature emphasizes loyalty, honor, collective identity, and spiritual continuity. The research demonstrates that successful literary translation requires not only linguistic accuracy but also the preservation of cultural symbolism and emotional impact. The horse image serves as an important intercultural marker reflecting national values, historical experience, and ethical ideals in both literary traditions.

Abstract

This study explores the linguistic, semantic, and cognitive mechanisms of irony, antithesis, and paradox in English paremiology. Although phonetic devices such as rhyme, rhythm, and alliteration contribute to the memorability of proverbs, semantic stylistic devices play a more significant role in shaping their philosophical and communicative meaning. The findings reveal that antithesis, irony, and paradox are not merely decorative features, but important stylistic mechanisms that help proverbs express cultural wisdom, moral judgment, and practical experience in a concise form.
