Abstract

Aluminum stress is a limiting factor for crop production on acid dry land with a low pH. The objectives of this study were to evaluate aluminum-tolerant upland rice varieties in acid dry land. The study was carried out using a completely randomized block design (RCBD) consisting of 8 varieties, namely IR64, Inpago 7, Dodokan, Dod-Pup1, Situ Bagendit, Situ Bg-Pup1, Batur, Batur-Pup1, and 4 strains, namely 19 (PB5)-2, 20 (PB8)-1, 21 (PB15)-1, and 22 (PB16)-1. The results showed that the Situ Bagendit variety with the Pup-1 locus gave the highest yield per plot compared to other varieties and lines, namely 287.5 g. These results also correlate with the ability of the variety to withstand aluminum stress, with a tolerance value of 3.00 (rather tolerant).

Abstract

To obtain quality cocoa seedlings, maintenance efforts are required during the nursery stage, including meeting the nutritional needs of the planting medium which can be in the form of organic fertilizer from goat manure and husk charcoal. In addition, efforts to improve growing media in nurseries can be used with biological fertilizers, including plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). Goat manure for plant nutrients, as well as a source of nutrients for PGPR. The research objective was to determine the effect of media composition and PGPR on the growth of cocoa seedlings. Research with the experimental method of factorial design consisting of two factors was arranged using a completely randomized design. The first factor was soil planting medium: goat manure: husk charcoal (v/v) consisting of 3 levels: M0 = 1:0:0 (control), M1 = 1:1:0 and M2 = 1:1:1. Factor II, namely the dose of PGPR consists of 3 levels: K1 = 10 ml/seedling, K2 = 20 ml/seedling, and K3 = 30 ml/seedling. With three repetitions. Observational data were analyzed with variance at the 5% level. To find out the differences between treatments, the Duncan's Multiple Range Test was continued at 5% level. The results showed that there was no significant interaction between media composition and PGPR dosage on the growth of cocoa seedlings. The composition of the soil medium : goat manure : husk charcoal 1:0:0 and 1:1:0 gave good growth of cocoa seedlings. PGPR doses provide the same growth of cocoa seedlings.

Abstract

Insect pest attack on rice (Oryza sativa L.) and maize (Zea mays L.) could be potential in decrease production. This study aims to determine the insect pest species of rice and maize and attack intensity in Lahat District. This study was conducted using survey methods. The systematic random sampling methodology was adopted for sample population identification. Surveys were conducted in 3 subdistricts (Jarai, Pajar Bulan and Sukamerindu). Found three rice insect pests species. The third species was rice stem borer (Scirpophaga incertulas), leaf folder (Cnaphalocrosis medinalis) and rice bug (Leptocorisa sp). Found one maize insect pest species was fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda). S. incertulas has attacked in 7 locations with low-intensity, Leptocorisa sp has attacked in 2 locations with low-intensity, C. medinalis has attacked in 1 location with low-intensity and S. frugiperda has attacked in 4 locations with low-intensity. Rice stem borer and fall armyworm can attack crop from the vegetative to generative phase.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the suitability of land for corn and soybean plants. The research has been carried out in January to March 2020 in the swampy land of Tanjung Sejaro Village, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research uses an intensive level survey method with an area of 5 ha. Observation and measurement were made directly to the field using a 1: 5000 scale map. The sample points consist of 10 points taken by the grid method, at each point representing 0.5 ha. Soil samples taken at a depth of 0-20 cm from the ground surface. The variables observed in the field were that the drainage class was rather poor, the effective depth was generally >90 cm, the topography was flat (<3%). The parameters observed in the laboratory were chemical properties in the form of very acidic soil pH in the range of 3.97-4.37, CEC classified as low with a range of 7.50-15.00 cmol/kg, Total nitrogen was very low with a range of 0.01-0.08 %, Phosphorus available was classified as very low with a range of 0.25-4.60 ppm, Potassium available was classified as very low with a range of 0.19-0.38 cmol/kg. The results showed the actual suitability for corn and soybean plants was N (not suitable) with several factors limiting nutrient retention and available nutrients. If liming and fertilizing inputs are given, the potential suitability for corn and soybean plants is S2.

Abstract

Abstract - The use of several varieties of green beans supported by NPK fertilizer and relatively easy cultivation techniques means this plant has good prospects as a business opportunity in the agribusiness sector because demand is quite large yearly. This research aimed to evaluate the appropriate dose of NPK fertilizer for the growth of several Mung Bean varieties. This research used a Randomized Block Design to treat several green bean varieties, Vima 1, Vima 2 and Vima 3. At the same time, the NPK fertilizer doses were P0 (without fertilizer), P1 (100 kg/ha), P2 (150 kg/ha) and P3 (200 kg /Ha). The research showed that fertilizer application only affected plant height, number of pods per plant and seed production per ha. At the same time, several varieties affected plant height and seed production per ha. The interaction of fertilizer application and several varieties significantly affects seed production per ha. Based on research results, applying fertilizer at a dose of 200 kg/ha gave the highest results in the growth and production of green beans. Based on the results of this research, it is also known that using several green bean varieties shows that the V-3 variety provides the best results in growth, and the V-2 variety provides the best results in production.

Abstract

Abstract--Ultisol soil has low organic matter content, high levels of leaching and evaporation, high Al saturation, and low nutrient availability. To overcome several ultisol soil problems, it is necessary to apply vermicompost fertilizer. Vermicompost is compost from soil used to raise worms, which affects soil structure and contains N, P, K, CA, Mg, S, and Fe. The research aimed to determine the characteristics of ultisol soil after applying vermicompost fertilizer and the growth of cocoa seedlings. Implementation of Research at the Pijoan Experimental Garden, Batanghari Regency. The experiment used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). Observation data were analyzed using analysis of variance and the Duncan New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) at the 5% level. The treatment tried was vermisol fertilizer with four dose levels, K0: 100% ultisol soil, K1: 85% ultisol soil + 15% vermisol fertilizer, K2: 75% ultisol soil + 25% vermisol fertilizer, K3: 65% ultisol soil + 35 % vermicompost per polybag. Providing vermicompost fertilizer with K2 and K3 treatment can increase N-total, P-Bray 1, and C-organic soil, increasing the pH of ultisol soil. Fertilizing vermicompost on ultisol soil had a significant effect on shoot dry weight and cocoa plant quality index. However, it had no significant effect on plant height, stem diameter and root dry weight.

Abstract

Abstract - During the main harvest, salak becomes very cheap, so it doesn't have a good impact on farmers. To overcome this, farmers must process the fruit into products such as dodol, sweets, chips, sweets, and extracts. This processing produces seeds that have not been utilized. This research aims to process salak seeds into coffee and analyze their contents, potentially food and health products such as antioxidants, caffeine, and proximate analysis. This research is a descriptive study that examines the making of coffee salak seeds and their contents. Making and taking samples was done at the Salak Abian Farmers Group, Sibetan Village, Karangasem. Sample preparation was carried out at the Denpasar Health Polytechnic Health Analysis Section. The sample analysis testing process was carried out at the Laboratory Services Unit, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University. The data was analyzed descriptively by presenting tables and narratives of the results obtained regarding product potential. The technological development of salak coffee as a local food product is the processing of the seeds into powder, which is roasted to become coffee. The method of making it is straightforward, almost the same as processing coffee. The content of antioxidant chemicals, caffeine, and proximate analysis can potentially become a local food product typical of Karangase that is globally competitive. This is supported by the antioxidant capacity content of 436.91 mg/L and IC50% 9.37 mg/mL, low caffeine 0.207%, low fat 2.95%, and carbohydrates 80.98%. It is also supported by 6.24% water, 3.49% ash, and 6.34% protein.

Abstract

Abstract-This research aims to determine the effect of light quality and frequency of application of Paclobutrazol on the growth and yield of chrysanthemum plants. The research was carried out from February to April 2023 using factorial experiments and arranged in a Split Plot Design consisting of a Main Plot and a Sub Plot. The main plot is the influence of light quality using three different colours of light: white, red, and blue. The subplot is the frequency of application of Paclobutrazol, which consists of 4 types, namely 0 times, 1 time, 2 times and 3 times. The data analysis used in this research is the analysis of variance with a confidence level of 5%. The results showed an interaction between light quality and the frequency of Paclobutrazol application on the parameters of stem diameter and leaf area. The quality of light has a good influence on the parameters of plant height, flower colour, flower quality, number of flowers, number of leaves and flower diameter. The frequency of application of Paclobutrazol has a good influence on the parameters of plant height, flower colour, flower quality, number of flowers, number of leaves and flower diameter. The best plant height is 106.39 cm, the most significant number of leaves is 15.5, the best leaf area is 89.42 cm2, the best stem diameter is 0.41 inches, the best flower colour with a score of 2.5, the best flower quality with a score of 2.8, the largest flower diameter is 7.93 cm. The most significant number of flowers is 5 flowers.

Abstract

Abstract—This research aims to determine the interaction between clay soil and organic material on the growth of oil palm seedlings in the pre-nursery, determine the best dose of clay for the growth of pre-nursery oil palm seedlings and determine the best dose of green fertilizer for the growth of oil palm seedlings in the pre-nursery on soil sand beach. This research was carried out at KP2 Kalikuning INSTIPER Yogyakarta, which is located in Wedomartani Village, Depok District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region Province, which was carried out in February-May 2023. The research method used a factorial pattern with a two-factor Completely Randomized Design (RAL). The first factor, clay dosage, consists of 4 classifications, namely 0 g, 100 g, 150 g, and 200 g. The second factor is green manure dosage, which consists of 4 classifications, namely 0 g, 50 g, 75 g, and 100 g. From these two factors, 16 treatment combinations were obtained, and each treatment had 3 replications, so the total number of plants in this study was 48 seeds. The research results showed a real interaction between the combination of clay doses and green fertilizer and the number of leaves. The best treatment combination was a green fertilizer dose of 100 g/seedling with a clay dose of 150 g/seedling. Providing clay in the beach sand planting medium influences the growth of oil palm seedlings in the pre-nursery, as seen from the parameters of leaf area, fresh root weight, root dry weight, and number of secondary roots. The best dose of clay is 200 g/seedling. Providing green fertilizer influences the growth of oil palm seedlings in the pre-nursery. Based on seedling height, number of leaves, fresh weight of the crown, fresh weight of the roots, and stem diameter, the best dose of green fertilizer is 50 g/seedling. Abstract

The research was carried out at the Sungai Bungur Estate Plantation (SBGE), PT. Prisma Cipta Mandiri, South Sumatra Region 2, PSM 2 located in Cempaka Sari Village, East Kikim, Lahat Regency, South Sumatra. This research was conducted from March 2023 - April 2023. The research method used to analyze the results of this research was a 2-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor is the type of fertilizer with 3 levels: urea 5 g/polybag, rock phosphate (RP) 50 g/polybag, NPKMg 5 g/polybag. The second factor is the composition of the planting medium with 3 levels: top soil, top soil: 1:1 manure, and top soil: 2:1 manure. Observational data Ade analyzed Alt variance at the 5% level. To find out the differences betwween treatments the Duncan’s Multiple Range Test bas continued St 5% level. The parameters observed were the increase in seedling height, number of leaves, stem diameter, root length, root volume, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight, root fresh weight, root dry weight. The results of the analysis show that the combination of applying NPKMg fertilizer with the composition of top soil planting media: manure 2:1 shows that there is a real interaction on the parameters of shoot dry weight, root fresh weight and root dry weight.
