Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of partial solar eclipse (GMS) to the acceleration due to gravity (g) the perceived objects on the Earth's surface. Data is collected in Bandung with the coordinates of 6°51'48 "S, 107°35'40" E for three days on 8, 9 and March 10 2016 with a span of 07.00 to 08.00 am. Earth's surface gravitational acceleration (g) is determined from the period of a pendulum swing that moves harmonics. The instrument used is the mathematical pendulum are optimized by material type nylon rope to prevent the rotational motion of the pendulum, the use of mirrors board to identify and eliminate Conic motion of pendulum and analysis tracker for the determination of the period of a pendulum precisely. Data were collected by recording the pendulum swing using high-resolution cameras with a shooting speed of 24 frames per second (fps), the video is analyzed using application tracker in order to obtain the period of a pendulum swing. The results showed a mean value of the Earth's surface gravitational acceleration (g) of the third day in a row is 9.81524 m s2, 9.808285 m/s2 ,and 9.813122 m/s2. Based on the results of this study concluded that the Earth's surface gravitational acceleration (g) is influenced by partial solar eclipse. Keywords: Eclipse, Tracker, Mathematical Pendulum.

Abstract

The dye is widely used in the industry which came dye textiles, plastics, and batik. Results of waste as a result of the dye can cause poisoning which is very dangerous. Waste methylene blue into one of the results of waste textile color. Charcoal from waste tree trunks using adhesives PVAC successfully made into a carbon that is able to absorb the waste dye methylene blue. Making carbon with PVAC adhesive into new things that are simple to absorb waste dye and easy to do by the general public without the use of laboratory equipment. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variation of immersion time and the mass of charcoal to the transmittance and absorption of waste degradation methylene blue 67 ppm. Degradation of methylene blue waste generated by providing independent variable mass quantities of charcoal trunk as much as 3g, 6g, 9g, 12g, 15g and 18g and variable time soaking for 12 hours and 36 hours. The concentration of methylene blue before and after irradiation was measured using a UV-Vis spectrometer. The results showed that the soaking time and the amount of carbon affect the absorbance and transmittance of methylene blue waste. The more the sheer number of masses of charcoal and charcoal long soaking time, giving the plot a graph of absorbance down and plot a graph of transmittance rose nearly perfect degradation. Abstract

Elasticity analysis of straps cut from used motorcycle tires done for determine (1) deflection effect to wide pieces of used tires, (2) modulus elasticity of used motorcycle tires, (3) used motorcycle tires applications for construction materials building earthquake resistant houses. Testing was conducted by One Point Loading (OPL) or a single centralized load testing. Data collection was performed by measuring the deflection at loading 1-10 kg with independent variable widths pieces of used tires. Modulus of elasticity obtained from the equation deflection. Data were analyzed with descriptive methods - quantitative regression analysis. Modulus elasticity of used motorcycle tires compared with the modulus elasticity of the construction materials. concluded that the larger the width of pieces of used tires, which occurs the smaller deflection. The modulus elasticity of used motorcycle tires is 8727.976 MPa which indicates that the used motorcycle tires have good flexibility. Straps cut from used motorcycle tires can be used as a construction material in addition to the retaining wall as a building collapse caused by the earthquake. Abstract

One potential area that have encountered in Indonesian society is brown sugar. There are various types of sugar including coconout sugar, palm sugar, ants sugar and others. Another interesting thing is examined in this study relates to the mechanical properties of palm sugar that is the compressive strength of the palm sugar. Palm sugar is made from sugar palm sap heating on volume of 600ml with a variation of the time is 26 minutes, 27 minutes, 28 minutes, 29 minutes and 30 minutes. The mechanical properties studied were compressive strength of palm sugar. These parameters were measured to determine the maximum size of an acceptable burden the palm sugar. The compressive strength of the palm sugar palm juice on the heating time 30 minutes, namely: 0.115218MPa. From the research results obtained showing a variable effect on the mechanical properties of palm sugar because the longer the heating time, the greater compressive strength. Palm sugar compressive strength of the observed increasing with time is lengthened. Keywords: palm concentrate, palm sugar, compressive strength, the heating time.

Abstract

Brightly colored clothing at the time the sun is hot compared using dark-colored clothing, this is because the color effect on the emissivity. Therefore, research that aims to find a good color combination to reduce the impact of heat on clothing. The independent variables in this study is a combination of colors and the dependent variable is the change in temperature. The colors used in this study there are five, namely black, white, red, green, blue. The study was conducted by measuring the temperature inside and outside the box. Furthermore, the data has been analyzed by the analysis table using Microsoft Excel. Based on the analysis, we concluded that the best color combinations to reduce the impact of heat on the clothes is the color white in output and color in the color blue and white output and color in green. While the colors were very bad in reducing the impact of heat on the clothes are the output colors in black and red. Keywords: Color Combination, Heat, Thermal conductivity.

Abstract

Rhodamine is kind of synthetic dyes that are widely used in textile and paper industries. The use of these hazardous substances rhodamine in foods and beverages is carried out by the manufacturers / community. Health impacts cause irritation of the respiratory tract, skin, eye, gastrointestinal, hepatic dysfunction and liver cancer. Thus, it is needed a study to detect rhodamine-B compounds in some foods and beverages by using a portable tool for practical and without having to do in the laboratory. This research was conducted with the stage of collection and sample preparation, validation of analytical methods, then analyzes the content of rhodamine in the test sample using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer and LCD mini tool. Based on the test results showed that the samples had a strong absorption of the green and blue LED RGB with highly sensitive to changes in the value of concentration. The test results s of mini absorption spectrophotometer concentrations of Rhodamine-B values ​​in samples of sauce at the peak wavelength of 532 nm is 2.39684 x ​​10-5 M, the value of the concentration of Rhodamine-B in the jelly in the peak wavelength of 532 nm is 2.78781 x 10 -5 M, and the value of the concentration of Rhodamine-B syrup at the peak wavelength of 486 nm is 1.75088 x 10-5 M. Abstract

Defect (discontinuity) in the material can be caused by the damage of microscopic or macroscopic structure of material and can’t be visually inspected. Non-destructive testing is one of material testing without destruct the material, so it can act as quality control which defect of material can be detected. One of the method used in radiography testing uses x-ray as defect detector and showing the result in negative film or computer. Whereas the principle of ultrasonic testing uses audible wave with high frequencies to find out the characteristics of defect. Ultrasonic testing have been developed into phased array ultrasonic testing and long range ultrasonic testing. This research will compare both of ultrasonic testing and radiography testing from the principle, proccess, capabilities, and limitations. Long range ultrasonic testing have capablity to determine the location of defect. Phased array ultrasonic test have capablity to detect the type of defect from small defect to small material, while x-ray radiograph testing can indentify type and shape of the defect. These methods were not showing which one the best is, but they were complete each other. Keywords: ultrasonic testing, radiography testing, x-ray, non-destructive testing.

Abstract

Preparation and characterization of physical properties of carbon electrode from flower of elephant grass has been analyzed with variations in particle size. Production of carbon electrodes was begun with pre-carbonization, grinding with hard grinder, grinding with ball milling and followed by sieving process. Variations in particle size selected of <38 µm milling continued during 20 hours, <38 µm (SB), and 39-52 µm (SC). All of the sample have been activated by chemical activating agent with NaOH at a concentration of 0,4 M. Carbonization process was performed at temperatures of 600˚C in the gas environment N2 and followed by physical activation process by using a CO2 gas at a temperature of 850˚C. Physical parameters such as mass, diameter and thickness of activated carbon electrodes was collected at a condition (i) before carbonization, (ii) after carbonization and (iii) after physical activation to found the density characteristic. The results of density data showed that the sample SA of <38 µm has a density value of 1,103 g/ cm3 , (ii) 0,869 g/cm3, (iii) 0,800 g/cm3, SB (i) 1,083 g/ cm3, (ii) 0,816 g/cm3, (iii) 0,728 g/cm3 and SC (i) 1,072 g/ cm3, (ii) 0,777 g/ cm3 and (iii) 0,599 g/ cm3, respectively. As a conclution, the particle size was varies inversely with the density. As an addition, the crystallographic analysis showed that the particle size is inversely proportional to the Lc value. Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang perbandingan sifat elektrokimia garam LIBOB dan LiPF6 sebagai elektrolit dalam sel LiFePO4 /Li. Garam elektrolit LIBOB maupun LiPF6 masing-masing dilarutkan dalam larutan Etylene Carbonat (EC), Ethyl methyl carbonat (EMC) dan diethyl carbonat (DEC) dengan perbandingan (1:1:1) prosen volume. Pengujian clyclic voltametry (CV) dan charge/discharge pada garam LIBOB dilakukan dengan variasi konsentrasi, sedangkan untuk garam LiPF6 dilakukan pada konsentrasi 0,8 M. Hasil pengujian clyclic voltametry (CV) maupun charge/discharge menunjukkan bahwa elektrolit yang berisi garam LIBOB dalam pelarut EC/EMC/DEC yang bekerja paling optimal yaitu pada konsentrasi 0,5 M LiBOB EC:EMC:DEC (1:1:1 v). Sedangkan perbandingan antara larutan LiBOB dan LiPF6 berdasarkan hasil uji clyclic voltametry (CV) maupun charge/discharge menunjukkan bahwa larutan elektrolit LiBOB lebih baik digunakan untuk kinerja sel LiFePO4 /Li dibandingkan larutan elektrolit LiPF6. Dari hasil analisa SEM juga mengindikasikan bahwa sel LiFePO4 /Li dalam larutan elektrolit LiBOB mempunyai kestabilan dan kapasitas yang lebih tinggi. Abstract

Effect of CO2 activation temperature in production of carbon electrode supercapacitor against specific capacitance has been investigated and analyzed. Carbon electrodes in this study were produced from oil palm empty fruit bunches (EFB) waste derived from people's plantations. The electrodes production were begun with cutting the cob into small flake of EFB into 5 cm length, followed by a milling process, chemical activation used a 0.3 M KOH, hydraulic pressing and followed by carbonization process at a temperature of 800 oC. The physical activation was carried out at a temperature of 800, 850, and 900 oC in CO2 gas environment. Specific capacitance was determined by cyclic voltammetry method and its found to be as high as 39.77 Fg-1, 65.84 Fg-1, 45.06 Fg-1, 41.30 Fg-1 for activation temperature of 0, 800, 850, and 900 oC, respectively . The results showed that the temperature of 800 oC was the best activation temperature in production of carbon electrodes from EFB. In addition, also calculated physical properties such as mass, thickness, and diameter were measured to determine the density of the electrode. The density of each electrode for temperature activation of 0, 800, 850, and 900 oC were 2.664 g cm-3, 1.891 g cm-3, 2.045 g cm-3, 2.131 g cm-3, respectively. As a complement, the electrode structure has also analyzed by using X-Ray Difraction method. Keywords : activated carbon , oil palm empty fruit bunches , activation of CO2 , supercapacitor.
