Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce requires online shopping applications to focus not only on transactional functionality but also on the quality of User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) in order to enhance user engagement. This study aims to design and evaluate UI/UX strategies for the Galery Parfum online store application through the implementation of the User-Centered Design (UCD) method. This method was selected because it places users at the core of each design stage, enabling the development of solutions that are more aligned with users’ needs and characteristics. The research was conducted through four UCD stages: Understand Context of Use, Specify User Requirements, Design Solutions, and Evaluate Against Requirements. Data were collected through observations, questionnaires, and prototype usability testing involving users. The results indicate that users require a simple interface, intuitive navigation, and informative fragrance descriptions to support online purchase decision-making. The application prototype was developed using Figma, incorporating clear user flows for both customers and administrators. Usability evaluation using the System Usability Scale (SUS) yielded an average score of 77.75, which falls into the Good category with an acceptable level of acceptability. These findings demonstrate that the UI/UX design of the Galery Parfum application has good usability and contributes to improving user experience and engagement. This study is expected to serve as a reference for the development of UI/UX in e-commerce applications, particularly for experience-based products such as perfumes.

Abstract

The The increase in theft cases along with technological developments demands a more effective security system. By 2025, the broiler chicken coop partner PT. Ciomas Adisatwa experienced a theft case so that an improvement of the security system was needed. This research aims to apply Internet of Things (IoT) technology to monitor the security of broiler chicken coops using magnetic sensors and ESP32-CAM microcontrollers with telegram notifications. The system design is carried out using the waterfall method which includes the stages of needs analysis, design, testing, and implementation. A magnetic sensor is used to detect the movement of the cage door, and then the ESP32-CAM microcontroller processes the signal to activate the alarm and send notifications in real-time via Telegram. The test results show that the system can function properly and is able to improve the safety of the broiler chicken coop.

Abstract

Child-friendly educational tourism is a form of tourism that provides not only entertainment but also educational value to support children’s development. However, selecting appropriate educational tourism destinations often becomes a challenge for parents and schools due to the need to consider multiple criteria, such as safety, facilities, accessibility, and educational value. Limited integrated information and difficulties in comparing available alternatives further complicate the decision-making process. This study aims to design and develop a web-based recommendation system for child-friendly educational tourism using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method. The TOPSIS method is applied to generate objective and measurable recommendations based on predetermined criteria. The developed system is expected to assist parents and schools in selecting safe, comfortable, and educational tourism destinations that meet children’s needs, thereby improving the effectiveness and accuracy of the decision-making process.

Abstract

The library plays an important role in supporting teaching and learning activities in schools. However, library management at Budi Luhur Private Junior High School is still conducted manually, leading to inefficiencies in data processing, book searches, and borrowing transactions. This study aims to design and develop a website-based library information system to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of library management. The system was developed using the Waterfall method, which consists of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation to identify system requirements. The system was implemented using PHP as the programming language and MySQL as the database. Black box testing was applied to evaluate system functionality based on input-output conformity. The results show that the developed system is capable of managing book data, member data, borrowing and returning transactions, and generating visitor and borrowing reports accurately and efficiently. Testing results indicate that all system functions operate as expected. The implementation of this system contributes to the digital transformation of school library management, improves service quality, and provides easier access to information for librarians and students. This research demonstrates that a website-based library information system developed using the Waterfall method can be an effective solution for modernizing school library services.

Abstract

The rapid development of the retail industry requires technological innovation to improve efficiency and enhance customer convenience during shopping activities. One common issue in supermarkets is that customers often forget the number of items placed in their shopping carts, leading to time inefficiency and potential disruption of shopping flow. This study aims to design and develop a Smart Trolley system based on Arduino Uno using the E18-D80NK distance sensor to automatically count the number of items. The system operates by detecting objects through infrared signals, processing the data via a microcontroller, and displaying the item count in real time on a 16x2 LCD screen. The device is equipped with additional features, including a stop-count button, item subtraction button, and reset function to enhance operational flexibility. Testing results indicate that the system is capable of accurately counting items and operates under stable voltage conditions according to component specifications. The proposed Smart Trolley is expected to assist customers in monitoring their shopping items accurately, improve time efficiency, and serve as an initial step toward simple technological implementation in the digital transformation of the retail sector.

Abstract

In a school environment, managing student academic data, such as attendance and grades, is a vital component that requires high accuracy and efficiency. This data serves not only as an administrative record but also as a basis for evaluating student and school performance. At Brigjend Katamso 2 Middle School in Medan, attendance and grade management still uses manual methods, which can lead to errors and delays. This research uses the Waterfall method to create a prototype system design that can present web-based student attendance and grade data quickly and accurately, and facilitate more efficient reporting for the school. The Waterfall method was chosen because of its systematic and sequential approach, ensuring each development stage (analysis, design, implementation, testing) is completed thoroughly and in a structured manner, resulting in a robust system that meets the school's specific needs. The results of this research are expected to provide a description of the information system development process using the Waterfall method.

Abstract

The reliability of an electrical protection system plays a highly crucial role in maintaining the continuity and stability of power distribution to consumers. One of the main factors determining this reliability is the performance of protection devices, particularly the Overcurrent Relay (OCR) and Ground Fault Relay (GFR). These relays act as the first line of defense in detecting and interrupting fault currents that occur within the electrical power system. Any inaccuracy in function, improper settings, or deviations in relay operating characteristics can lead to serious consequences, such as delays in fault clearing, expansion of the affected area, or even a complete failure of the protection system. This study aims to optimize the reliability of the protection system through functional and characteristic testing of the OCR and GFR installed at the Muara Teweh Substation, which operates under the jurisdiction of UP2D South and Central Kalimantan. The research methodology includes a series of tests on key parameters such as operating time, pickup current, time coordination between relays, and selectivity level in response to short-circuit and ground fault disturbances. The test data were analyzed to evaluate the conformity between actual performance and the predetermined relay settings. The results indicate that the relays at the Muara Teweh Substation are in good working condition and perform according to their expected characteristics. Recommendations for relay setting adjustments were also proposed to further improve protection system effectiveness. Through regular testing and proper calibration, the reliability of the protection system can be consistently maintained.

Abstract

The process of car sales, especially credit-based transactions, requires accurate data management and precise installment calculations to support customer decision-making. Gocah Garage, as a car showroom that provides both cash and credit sales services, still performs installment simulations manually using calculators and spreadsheet applications, which is time-consuming and prone to calculation errors. This study aims to develop a web-based car sales application that implements the Flat Rate method to calculate credit installments accurately and efficiently. The research method used is a software development method with the Waterfall model, which includes requirement analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The application is developed using HTML, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL as the database. The results show that the developed system is able to manage car data, customer data, and sales transactions effectively, as well as automatically calculate monthly installments using the Flat Rate method. The application helps reduce calculation errors, speeds up the sales process, and improves service quality at Gocah Garage.

Abstract

Operational efficiency in the retail business heavily relies on accurate inventory management systems, particularly in handling damaged goods and return processes. Mencirim Swalayan currently faces challenges due to manual recording procedures that trigger data error risks and response delays. This research aims to design the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) of a mobile monitoring application tailored to operational needs using the User-Centered Design (UCD) approach. The UCD method is employed to ensure the design focuses on end-user needs through four main stages: understanding the context of use, specifying user requirements, designing solutions, and evaluation. The result of this study is an application design that integrates barcode scanning, physical photo documentation, and a real-time return status monitoring dashboard. Design evaluation was conducted using the System Usability Scale (SUS) instrument with 10 respondents, yielding an average score of 79.5. These results indicate that the application has a usability level in the "Good" category with an "Acceptable" rating, making it feasible for implementation to improve data accuracy and staff work efficiency at Mencirim Swalayan.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has significantly influenced various sectors, including payment methods in the culinary business. Manual payment processes often result in delays, inaccuracies in recording, and lack of transparency. This study aims to design and implement a webbased payment system for Cafe Rumah Si Dalang using the Research and Development (R&D) approach. The research process includes requirement analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The findings indicate that the developed system can streamline the payment process, enhance accuracy, and minimize human errors. Its user-friendly interface allows both cashiers and customers to use the system efficiently. This research is expected to serve as a digital payment solution for culinary businesses and provide a reference for future development, including QRIS integration and automated financial reporting features.
