Abstract

Changes in instructional modes that have occurred can trigger various perceptions and different learning commitments, especially in lectures that are identic to perform hands-on science, such as science courses. This study aims to analyze students’ perceptions of blended learning and face-to-face modes in science courses related to learning commitment after the Covid-19 pandemic. Using phenomenological method, the research was conducted with six students as participants. The data was collected by interview, observation, and documentation techniques. Triangulation was used to validate the data, while a data analysis technique is using Miles and Huberman. The results show that there are differences in students' perceptions and commitments in science courses with both learning modes. Students tend to perceive face-to-face learning more positively than blended learning because activities perform more interactively. Students’ commitments are better during face-to-face learning than during blended learning. Based on the results, this study concludes that positive perceptions shape better learning commitments than negative perceptions.

Abstract

This independent curriculum introduces a new framework for students centered on Merdeka learning models, with the goal of fostering their self-assurance and ingenuity. School educators design English teaching plans while guiding students through project-based learning initiatives until they achieve proficiency and commendable performance by the end of the semester. Considering that English stands as a global language, students must attain mastery to prevent lagging behind other nations in the era of globalization. This research aims to analyze the application of the Merdeka Curriculum in improving the quality of learning, especially English, and whether this approach can strengthen creativity and English language proficiency among educators and students. By employing a qualitative methodology utilizing content analysis, the study relies on data derived from questionnaires distributed to 158 English teachers and interviews conducted with educators situated. The examination of the findings reveals that 77.2% of English teachers acknowledge the presence of an independent curriculum, and 76.6% of students have experienced improvements in skills and creativity. For the continuous implementation of the Merdeka curriculum, educators should further enhance their knowledge, take a proactive role in encouraging and assisting students both within and beyond the classroom settings, and design English learning projects that foster the development of students aligned with the Pancasila principles, capable of thriving in the future competitive landscape.

Abstract

Proposal writing training enriches lecturers' capacity in conducting research. The purpose of this study was to assess direct feedback (reactions) from faculty members participating in a research proposal writing training workshop. This was a cross-sectional study conducted through a self-administered questionnaire. The data was analyzed for central tendency. Pre-questionnaire data were retro skewed, so the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used for median comparisons. Open question data were checked manually. The results of this study found a ranking of training workshop attributes, namely usefulness (8.71 ± 1.23), content (8.86 ± 1.15), relevance (8.90 ± 1.18) and facilitation (9.09 ± 1.15). .09) was also quite prominent and overall (9.05±.97). Participants' confidence levels increased significantly (<0.001) on six relevant cognitive skills items; conducting research (before Median-2, IQ-1, after Median-3, IQ-0); conducting a systemic review (before Median-2, IQ-1, after Median-3, IQ-1), choosing a research design (before Median-2, IQ-2, after Median-3, IQ-0), applying basic biostatistics ( before Median-2, IQ-1, after Median-3, IQ-0), academic writing (before Median-2, IQ-1, after Median-3, IQ-0) and research proposal writing (before Median-2, IQ-1, after Median-3, IQ-0). Overall the feedback from the participants was positive and excellent and their confidence levels increased significantly on the cognitive skills assessment.

Abstract

The influence of parents on their children is vital in that it molds a cognitive behavior that will reflect on their academic performance. During the COVID-19 pandemic, high school students have to learn in the form of modular learning in which they were just in their respective homes and their parents were taking the role of school teacher. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of different parenting styles of parents on the student's performance under modular distance learning amid the lockdown of the pandemic. Primary data were collected from 87 high school students who responded to the Google survey such as profiles of students, grades, and parenting styles using the Parental Authority Questionnaire (PAQ). The data gathered were analyzed through standard descriptive measures and correlational analysis. Results depicted that, on average, students have a "very satisfactory" performance, that is, the grade point average is 93%. Moreover, students' mothers and fathers are both "authoritative" in their education. Based on the correlation analysis, the mother's strictness (opposite of permissive (p-value=0.027) can positively influence the student's academic achievement, but the relationship is revealed to be weak. In addition, the fathers' parenting styles have no association with their children's academic performance based on the correlation analysis (p-values>5%). This implies that most of the time students are learning independently from their respective parents at home. Hence, most of the high school students during modular learning amid the pandemic are learning without the aid and influence of their parents.

The transcription of Joe Biden's victory speech is the subject of this investigation. Mr. Biden convey commitments and responsibility connected with the program that he will run; however, we don't know whether it will be run or no. This research applied qualitative research. The analysis is using data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. According to the findings of this study, there are three distinct categories: value, modality, and mood. Declarative mood is the most common type; 193 clauses, or about 94%, are in the imperative mood, followed by seven clauses, or 3,4%, and three clauses, or about 1,5 percent, in the interrogative mood. The dominant modality value is median, there are eighteen provisions or around 62,1%, then, at that point, trailed by eight clauses or around 27,6% as low worth and the latter is three conditions or 10,3% for high worth. The dominant type of modality is obligation. Eleven clauses, or approximately 37.9 percent, are classified as obligation, ten clauses, or approximately 34.5%, as probability, and eight clauses, or approximately 26.7 percent, as inclination.

Abstract

Loss of specific or general knowledge and skills, commonly referred to as ‘learning loss,’ continues to be a concern in Indonesia. This research aims to analyze the relationship between economic factors and the incidence of learning loss among students. The primary objective is to gain a deeper understanding of how economic aspects can impact students’ learning outcomes. The research employed an ex-post facto research design, which involves data collection after the event being studied. The study involved 30 fifth-grade elementary school students and 30 parents as participants. Data was collected through methods such as observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. The data analysis approach in this research assumes linearity. The research results highlight a significant correlation between parents’ economic conditions and learning loss, underscoring a critical issue in the education sector. With a significance value (Sig value) less than 0.05, it can be concluded that parents’ economic backgrounds play a pivotal role in influencing the extent of learning loss. Learning loss, often attributed to factors like students participating in family economic activities such as forest labor or fishing, can have adverse effects on the quality of education and human resource development. Consequently, addressing this issue requires concrete actions, including providing support to affected students and fostering a more inclusive educational environment.
