ABDISOSHUM merupakan Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat Bidang Sosial dan Humaniora yang diterbitkan 4 (empat) kali dalam setahun, yaitu pada bulan Maret, Juni, September dan Desember oleh Yayasan Literasi Sains Indonesia. Jurnal ABDISOSHUM didedikasikan untuk mempublikasi hasil-hasil kegiatan Pengabdian yang dilakukan oleh Mahasiswa, Dosen dan seluruh lapisan Masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk menyebarluaskan hasil pemikiran dan gagasan konseptual, serta tentang kegiatan Pengabdian Masyarakat dengan berbagai potensi, hambatan, tantangan, dan permasalahan yang ada di lingkungan masyarakat dalam bidang sosial dan humaniora.

This paper aims to find out the activities of implementing Field Work Practices carried out by Practitioners at LKSA Anak Gembira. Field Work Practice is one of the activities undertaken by final students in fulfilling assignments and practice during lectures. At this PKL, the practitioner will apply the PKL model in groups or it can be said that it is an effort to empower a group in overcoming their problems. The target to be achieved in this street vendor activity is to solve children's problems related to the lack of interest and interest in children in learning English, which often causes difficulties in following English lessons both at school and elsewhere. In addition, it was also reported that economic factors also contributed to the emergence of this problem, this is related to the high costs that will be incurred when choosing one type of English development tutoring. For this reason, in this street vendor activity, the practitioner also contributes to children by helping them overcome problems and come up with solutions and efforts to empower children. In this paper, we will describe some of the steps taken by a Social Worker in dealing with client problems and will obtain appropriate solutions and efforts to solve client problems.

During development period, children are actively seeking their identity by interacting with their peers both in the real world and in cyberspace. In every aspects of the human personality, self-confidence is an important indicator for one's success in relation to the activities he does. However, there are things that cannot be denied that the level of self-confidence possessed by each individual is different, and this is influenced by other factors besides the process of maturing itself. To generate self-confidence in children at Panti Asuhan Cinta Kasih Medan, activities that can encourage and support children are carried out with the show and tell method which aims to help children achieve their goals, which is referred to as the emergence of self-confidence. With the emergence of self-confidence in children, it will help children show themselves and is good for children's self-development. It is highly expected that this will educate how important it is to help children and provide encouragement and support for children to have self-confidence and be able to express and develop themselves.

This paper aims to Strengthen the Character of adolescents through Assertive Training Techniques on assertive behavior owned by orphanage youth who are unable to express their emotions and opinions through Field Work Practices (PKL). The purpose of this street vendor is to carry out a Mini Project by applying the casework method in solving client problems. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Based on the results of observations made on one of the orphanages who were used as clients, it can be seen that the client has difficulty expressing his emotions and opinions, the child cannot refuse his friend's invitation to do negative things because he is afraid of what his friends will think. Based on this, it was identified that the client had problems with controlling emotions (aggressive) and found it difficult to express or convey his thoughts (non-assertive). Through the Assertive Training Technique as a character strengthening method which was carried out several times during the street vendors, there was quite good progress, namely, the client began to be able to apply assertive behavior in everyday life and as a result he became more confident in expressing his feelings and not easily influenced by the environment and his friends.

Adolescence is a transitional period between childhood and adulthood and has relatively not yet reached the stage of mental and social maturity so that they face conflicting emotional and social pressures. The biological and psychological development of adolescents is influenced by environmental and social developments. Adolescent problems are very complex problems, ranging from the large number of problems to the TRIAD KRR, namely adolescent reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and drugs. To overcome this youth problem, the government has made various efforts through various programs and across institutions. BKKBN responds to these youth problems in accordance with its responsibilities in efforts to reduce population and family development, namely through family development policies. Through this Field Work Practice activity, the practitioner provides assistance by educating about the problems of TRIAD KRR, namely adolescent reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, and drugs to adolescents at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Pantai Labu. The process of providing this assistance was also carried out in the Field Work Practice II mini project, using the casework method through the general or general intervention phase consisting of Assessment, Program Planning, Intervention, Evaluation and Termination.

The author conducted practicum II at the Batang Onang Sub-District Office, North Padang Lawas. The Field Work Practice aims to improve students' skills in developing mindsets, adding ideas and insights so that later they will produce a skilled and quality workforce. Apart from that, street vendors are one of the embodiments of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely Service. Through these street vendors, it is hoped that students will be able to make a good contribution to society. The second practicum conducted by the author was to examine the problems experienced by children in the village of Pasarmatanggor. This paper intends to review the problem of the lack of interest in learning and children's creativity and the solution. Interest in learning is a very important factor in the success of children. Because, the role of interest is very big influence on a person's willingness to accept and perform an action. In addition, children must be trained to be creative. Through the creative process, children will gain confidence thanks to their achievements in getting things done. This provision can help them form imaginative and inventive mindsets in the future.

The Orphanage is considered as a shelter for neglected children where this Orphanage can guarantee the lives of foster children. By providing attention, affection, guidance, and direction of behavior in accordance with good values ​​and norms as well as non-formal and formal education which is also given appropriately for children living in orphanages. Through the Nischaya Indonesia Foundation Orphanage, Kec. Medan Selayang, Medan City, accommodates Nias children, such as orphans and orphans, as well as underprivileged children. Through observation and interviews it can be seen how the service system of the Panti is. Then it was found that there were various different behaviors, especially individualism which often changed. The before after implementation method is in the form of outreach to the orphanage children of the Indonesian Niscaya Foundation by providing education about the 5S culture (Smile, Greeting, Greet, Polite and Polite). The result of implementing the 5S culture is being able to have good manners and an attitude of mutual respect for the surrounding environment.

Children are the nation's golden generation who will become the cornerstone of a country to be successful or not. During the developmental period of children, it is important for them to gain self-confidence. Good self-confidence will bring children to be able to explore something without feeling ashamed, insecure, or afraid. During the implementation of PKL II conducted by the writer at the Yayasan Panti Asuhan Sosial Bina Mandiri, Medan, the writer found a problem in a group of orphanage children. Confidence is their main problem, this is based on the results of observations of researchers while carrying out work practices. The author hereby seeks to help children to be able to grow their self-confidence, by using the group work method as an approach and in handling it the author applies role playing to encourage children to have self-confidence. The author believes that role play is effective for exploring and bringing back children's self-confidence. The author hopes that this role play can be one of the things that can be done as a way of solving their problems.

In this era of globalization, the development of technology and information and communication is growing very rapidly and also provides many benefits. This indicates that globalization in Indonesian society has become a part of life. The development of information and communication technology also affects all aspects of life, this is felt by the increasing emergence of increasingly sophisticated information and communication equipment. One of the bad effects of the acceleration of globalization is hoax news. The government continues to socialize how to respond to hoax news that appears on social media. Through this Field Work Practice activity, the practitioner provides assistance by educating about hoax news on social media and how to match the truth and its sources to the community in Sidodadi Village, West Kisaran City District. The process of providing this assistance was also carried out in the Field Work Practice II mini project, using the groupwork method through the general or general intervention stage consisting of Assessment, Program Planning, Intervention, Program Evaluation, Monitoring and Termination.

Drug abuse (Narcotics, Psychotropics and Addictive Substances) is a case that is increasing day by day both in quantity and quality. This is a problem that cannot be taken lightly because most drug cases are found in young people, the next generation of the nation. This drug abuse certainly results in drug dependence, which according to WHO is defined as a condition of periodic or chronic intoxication resulting from the repeated use of drugs, either naturally or synthetically. The high number of cases of drug threats can be caused by a lack of strategies in self-management, wrong expectations and cognition, causing a deficiency in taking steps to control one's emotions and a person's inability to stand up in the midst of the many difficulties they face. This mini-project research aims to find out about the social welfare service system for drug users at the BI LRPPN Rehabilitation Institution. The method used in this practice uses the Case Work Method for treatment based on Therapeutic Community (TC) which was popularized by Skidmore. This method is commonly used in rehabilitation institutions and is considered effective in the recovery process for residents. This is because the TC concept itself offers health-based, spiritual, and psychological services that include cognitive and behavioral aspects. The TC method also hones every resident to continue to be responsible, both to themselves, the group and the surrounding environment.

Childhood is an important period in human life. Because it is during this period that children have strong memories so that they can easily learn and develop from what children see and hear. From an early age, children should be equipped with basic learning so that when they are anywhere, children already have the basic key of knowledge, especially in terms of communicating. Communication is the process of conveying messages from one person to another or to other groups. Good communication is used in the correct, good and appropriate language. Someone who is good at communicating will be easily placed anywhere and won’t get difficulties because they already have mastered the language and how to communicate well. In this discussion, the main subject is the children of overseas countries. As a nomad, the basic key that must be grasped is about language. The more precise language is English because English is a universal language which is used in every country as a communication guide. In fact, there are still many children who haven’t mastered English well so they often get difficulty communicating. The basic problem is due to a lack of knowledge of vocabulary and listening skills. This is causes the child can’t be respond quickly to what the other person is saying, and cannot answer because of the lack of vocabulary. So to facilitate and help children, basic Vocabulary and Listening training activities are carried out. This learning and training is aimed at and carried out for several children of Indonesian citizens whose are in the Philippines. Most of them are forced to be taken overseas by their parents to work because of the lack of income in Indonesia so that they cannot reach their home needs. The purpose of this training would be help the children communicate with the local citizens.
