Abstract

Merdeka's curriculum has been developed as a more flexible curriculum framework while focusing on essential subjects and developing the character and competence of students. In addition, students are also given the opportunity to develop the necessary skills in social, cultural, and economic environments. To realize these aspirations, the Merdeka curriculum was born with an innovation in the form of the Pancasila Student Profile Enhancement Project (P5). The purpose of this study is to find and gather data on the implementation of the independent curriculum in State High School 1 Kedamean for the P5 project. To provide useful and easy-to-understand information for the reader, the study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to describe the subject, the situation, and the data obtained during observations and questions. The results of this research show that the curriculum in State High School 1 Kedamean has been implemented well and is running well, but there are still many shortcomings and difficulties in its implementation. As a leader, the head of school must have the ability to change the perspective of human resources in their educational environment so that the independent curriculum can be applied to the maximum. Overall it can be said that P5 has run 90% with obstacles faced by schools such as teacher conformity with policy, where teachers are still in the process of adapting themselves to the characteristics of the Merdeka curriculum. The results of these findings can be used as a study for developing the implementation of the P5 program in other schools.

Abstract

Media is one of the components in learning that has a function as a means of non-verbal communication. In designing instructional media, a teacher needs to adapt to the students need. As a result, it can be effective and efficient. Students as learning centers are expected to develop and have better communication skills, so that they can participate actively, be able to analyze and be able to solve their own problems. Learning media that attracts students' interest will create creativity and innovation to themself which is in line with the challenges of the twenty-first century. On the other hand, the mindset that can bring out the creative potential in everyone is Design Thinking. In this research, we use a theoretical perspective from design thinking with activities that consist of 5 stages, namely empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. We conducted in-depth observations and interviews to identify problems in students of class X-4 at the Madani Integrated Model Senior High School. The sample used was 4 students. The sample selection was based on the extreme right and left extreme sample criteria. The findings in the interview formed an "empathy map" which then formulated insights and formed a design challenge. The result is a poster in Biology learning on growth and development material. The posters that have been made have gone through a series of trials. Furthermore, by following the observer suggestions and in accordance with the needs of students, the poste rwas improved.  In addition, animated picture elements were added to the poster. The implication is that the media becomes interesting. In consequence, it raises students' reading interest in the content which is to be conveyed. Moreover, the media was designed according to the characteristics and conditions of students in the classroom. As a result, the media can be effective and efficient in its use. Furthermore, suggestions from observers and adjusted to students' needs, the poster is then repaired and ready to be used in learning.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the mathematical communication skills of female students in solving derivative problems in the eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 1 Sigi. The research followed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. The study sample consisted of three female students selected based on a questionnaire focusing on feminine gender traits. Data were collected through written tests, interviews, and direct observation of the subjects. The dependability and credibility techniques were used to ensure the quality of the research findings. Data analysis involved three stages: data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. This study contributes to the existing literature by addressing the gap in understanding the mathematical communication skills of students with feminine gender traits, specifically in the context of solving derivative problems. The uniqueness of this study lies in the use of a feminine questionnaire for subject selection and the integration of mathematical language with everyday language and physical gestures in the evaluation of mathematical ideas. The findings revealed that female students with feminine gender traits demonstrated proficiency in all indicators of mathematical communication skills, including: (1) the ability to communicate their mathematical thoughts coherently and clearly to their peers and teachers; (2) effective use of mathematical language, such as numbers, letters, symbols, charts, graphs, and logical connections, in conjunction with everyday language and physical gestures when presenting, solving, and evaluating mathematical ideas during interactions with others; and (3) the capacity to explain mathematical ideas, situations, or relationships in written form. These results suggest that approaches combining mathematical language with physical interaction and everyday language can enhance the effectiveness of mathematical communication. The findings of this research can be utilized as a foundation for developing more inclusive and adaptive teaching strategies that consider gender differences in mathematics education.

Abstract

This literature review examines the impact of learning models on students' scientific literacy and provides critiques of the strengths and weaknesses of the literature. These critiques offer recommendations for future research. Additionally, this review analyzes the role of socio-scientific issues in the context of scientific literacy. To conduct this review, 27 articles from Scopus-indexed journals were critically analyzed using the keywords: (1) Socio-scientific issues in science literacy, (2) model-based learning in scientific literacy, (3) inquiry-based learning in scientific literacy, and (4) socio-scientific issues using model-based learning in science literacy. The analysis was facilitated by the Publish or Perish software. The findings of this review suggest that various inquiry learning models have a positive impact on scientific literacy across different topics and support students' learning achievement. However, it was observed that two specific types of inquiry-based learning models, namely open inquiry-based learning and independent inquiry-based learning, were not effective in improving scientific literacy. Therefore, future research should focus on alternative inquiry-based learning models that have shown promising results in improving scientific literacy. Furthermore, this review highlights that the existing literature predominantly discusses socioscientific issues within the framework of curriculum settings and does not adequately address real-life problems associated with these issues.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to develop Puzzle Based Case Study (PBCS) media that is valid, practical, and effective in enhancing students' cognitive learning outcomes on the topic of the respiratory system. PBCS is a form of media that combines elements of a puzzle game with case study questions. The research followed the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate. The validity of the media was determined through input from three validators: media experts, material experts, and educational practitioners. The practicality of the media was assessed through questionnaires administered to students and teachers. To measure the effectiveness of the media in improving cognitive learning outcomes, pretest and posttest assessments were conducted, followed by an analysis of the n-gain. The results of the material validation process showed a 100% agreement, while the media validation process also achieved a 100% agreement. The validation process involving educational practitioners resulted in a 98.6% agreement. The practicality of the media was rated as 95.6% (indicating high practicality). The effectiveness of the media, as measured by the N-Gain value of 0.62, met the criterion for effectiveness at 62% (moderately effective). These findings demonstrate that PBCS is a valid, practical, and effective tool for enhancing students' cognitive learning outcomes in the study of the respiratory system. Based on these results, PBCS can serve as a valuable resource for the development of other game-based media in various educational disciplines.
