Abstract

In connection with the improvement of services Center of Development and Empowerment for Teachers and Education Personnel (PPPPTK) Medan, the empowerment of teamwork in the institution becomes very important because the success of the teamwork will determine the overall success of the institution. The purpose of the study was to determine whether team leadership, and team cohesion have direct impact on team effectiveness at Center of Development and Empowerment for Teachers and Education Personnel (PPPPTK) Medan. The population are all trainers and staff at Center of Development and Empowerment for Teachers and Education Personnel Medan with number 187 people. Sampling technique used is proportional stratified random sampling, so sampling size is 127. Data were processed used path analysis. The results of study showed: First, team cohesion is directly influenced by team leadership with level of effect is 0,30. Second, team effectivenessis directly influenced by team leadership with level of effect is 0,20 and indirect effect is 0,14. Third, team effectiveness is directly influenced by team cohesion with level of effect is 0,29. From the finding, it can be recommended: (1) giving training to all staff, trainer and team leader in P4TK for understanding about teamwork and improve their interpersonal competence to be good team player, (2) supporting every unit/teamwork with resources they needed to accomplish work, (3) giving reward for the most effective and cohesive team, (4) doing teambuilding correctly and regularly.

Abstract

This study aims at finding out the pattern of intercultural communication that occurs in a prime one school environment; the social and cultural values ​​in enhancing harmonious relations within the PrimeOne School Medan employees and the factors that support and hinder employees in communicating at school. This research was conducted at the private school PrimeOne School in Medan. The research informants were determined by purposive sampling and Snowball Sampling based on certain criteria. This type of research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. Primary data were obtained through direct observation and in-depth interviews with informants. Meanwhile, secondary data obtained from data collection through documents in the form of books, journals, the internet, and photos related to the research topic. The data collected was then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman Interactive Analysis Model. The results of this study indicate that initially cultural differences, especially language, became a challenge both for foreign students and local students in communicating so that cross-cultural communication patterns that occur between foreign employees and local employees as well as interactions with students in communicating at school are very tortuous and experience difficulty. But over time, the interaction of the two gradually improved. In addition, social needs as humans to interact and communicate become supporting factors that encourage both to always be involved in conversation.

Abstract

This study aims at implementing work discipline, work motivation, and job performance at the Education Office of North Sumatra Province, the influence of work discipline on work performance at the Education Office of North Sumatra Province, the influence of work motivation on job performance at Education Office of North Sumatera Province, the influence of work discipline and work motivation on job performance at Education Office of North Sumatera Province. The population of research is all employees at Education Department of North Sumatera Province in 2015 as many as 140 people. In this study, the confidence level was set 95% then the sample size (n) = 96.04 is about 96 people. Sample determination technique is stratified random sampling, that is samples taken from each section evenly, that is member of population divided by total of population multiplied by research sample. The work discipline has a positive and significant effect on the employee's performance as seen from the tcount of 7,000 > = 0.05, meaning that the high performance of employees in Education Office of North Sumatera Province is influenced by factors discipline. Work motivation has positive and significant effect on employee performance as seen from titung value of 7,305attable 1,986 (sig 0,000), which is significantly smaller than > = 0,05, meaning that the high of employee performance in Education Office of North Sumatera Province is influenced by factors motivation. Work discipline and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on employee performance as seen from the value of Fhitung 45,983attable 1,986 (sig 0,000), which is significant t less than > Ftable 3,09 with sig 0,000 <0,05. Adjusted R-Square value is 0.486, it is known that the contribution of work discipline and work motivation to work performance of 48.60%. This means that the variables of work discipline and work motivation contribute to work performance is 48.60% while the rest of 51.40%, contributed by other un-researched variables such as organizational culture, supervision, leadership, and others. In order for employees to further improve the discipline of work by coming and returning on time, and doing work in accordance with established work procedures, head section should be in upholding discipline so as not to discriminate between employees with one another. In order for employees to further improve the work motivation by not delaying the work to be completed, and to the head of the section should always provide encouragement or motivation by always giving attention in the form of awards to employees who excel or in the form of reprimands to employees who make mistakes in work. In order for employees to pay more attention to their work performance like doing the job that is given seriously and responsible for the work done.

Abstract

Interpersonal communication is sending messages from one person to another person with a direct reciprocal nature. Likewise with Soewondo Air Force Base, the role of leadership is crucial as an engine of organization through understanding the problems that occur.This study aims at finding how the interpersonal communication role of the leadership of the Soewondo air Force base work unit towards its members, how the work motivation of members is and how the interpersonal communication role of the leadership influential in increasing the work motivation of members. The problem of several violations of the law was found so that it affects work motivation. Through the interpersonal communication approach, a leader can create an interest in himself of creating an atmosphere that can invite members to conduct interpersonal communication in the hope of providing solutions to the problems faced by their members so as to obtain maximum work result. In can be said that he role of interpersonal communication of leaders to members of the Suwondo Medan Lanud work unit in general is good, the motivation of Medan Suwondo Lanud members in general is good, interpersonal communication of leaders partially gives a significant influence on the work motivation of members of the Soewondo Lanud. From the observations in the preliminary part of this study it is also very suitable, namely the finding of several members who are experiencing legal problems that result in decreased work motivation and obstructed work done.

Abstract

This study aims at determining and understanding the causes of money theft via ATMs in the Medan City Police Legal Area, investigators' strategy in conducting investigations of money theft via ATMs in the Medan City Police Station, the obstacles faced by Medan City Police Department investigators in handling money theft through ATMs. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from the field by conducting interviews and case studies with related parties. Secondary data were obtained through library research or study documentation to get secondary data. Through this research, thoughts, doctrines, opinions or conceptual thoughts from previous studies relating to the object of study research were obtained. The results showed that the causes of theft through ATMs were economic factors, environmental factors, social factors, low religious and moral experience, educational factors, family factors, and mental illness called kleptomania. The strategy of investigating the crime of money theft through ATMs by the Medan City Police is by following up the report immediately, making an investigation warrant and an investigation warrant, conducting a crime scene by examining the results of CCTV recordings, searching for traces / fingerprints of the perpetrators at the crime scene, looking for evidence used by the offender to commit a crime and to make a crime scene sketch to be attached to the minutes of the crime scene inspection. The obstacles faced by Medan City Police investigators in investigating the crime of money theft through ATMs are the absence of CCTV installed in the ATM room, the installed CCTV has been damaged so that the picture is no longer clear, there is no trace or fingerprint of the perpetrator in the ATM room because the perpetrators used gloves and damaged the crime scene because someone had come in and out of the ATM room before the police came to inspect the crime scene.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Performance is the work quality and quantity achieved by a person in carrying out his duties in accordance with the responsibilities given to him. Some elements that are often used in assessing teacher performance are mastery of subject matter, ability to manage classes and the ability of teachers to increase student learning interest. This study aims at determining the effect of personality competency and work motivation partially and simultaneously on performance of teachers in SMA Negeri 8 Medan. The population in this study is all teachers who taught at SMA Negeri 8 Medan, with a total of 41 teachers. The entire population of 41 people was taken as a sample. Data collection techniques in this study are questionnaires, interviews and documentation studies. While the data analysis technique used is the classic assumption test, multiple regression, t test, F test and coefficient of determination. The results show partially the personality competency of teachers had a positive and significant effect on the teacher performance of SMA Negeri 8 Medan. The better the teacher's personal competence, the better the teacher's performance will be. Partially the work motivation of the teacher has a positive and significant effect on the teacher performance of SMA Negeri 8 Medan. The higher the teacher's work motivation, the better the teacher's performance will be. Simultaneously personality competency and work motivation of teachers have a significant effect on teacher performance in SMA Negeri 8 Medan The coefficient of determination shows that 90,20% variation in teacher performance can be explained by personality competency and teacher's work motivation simultaneously, while the remaining 9.80% is explained by other factors, such as education and work discipline

Abstract

Productivity can be influenced by many factors, including management, ability, discipline, training and work motivation but the most important factors are training and motivation factors. This study aims at determining the effect of training and work motivation partially and simultaneously on employee work productivity at PT. Indofood Fritolay Makmur, Tbk Medan Branch. The population of this study is 115 workers at PT. Indofood Fritolay Makmur, Tbk Medan Branch. To determine the number of samples used Slovin formula, 89 people aredetermined. Data collection techniques in this study are questionnaires, interviews and documentation studies while the data analysis technique used is the classic assumption test, multiple regression, t test, F test and coefficient of determination. The results showed that training and work motivation had a positive and significant effect partially and simultaneously on employee work productivity at PT. Indofood Fritolay Makmur, Tbk Medan Branch. The coefficient of determination (R Square) is 0.643. That is, variations in employee work productivity can be explained by training and work motivation of 64.30%, while the remaining 35.70% is explained by other factors. Thus it is suggested that companies should choose trainer instructors who truly master the training material, and design training materials to suit the needs of all training participants. Chairman of PT. Indofood Fritolay Makmur, Tbk Medan Branch needs to pay attention on its employees by providing financial rewards that are comparable to the work charged to the employees concerned.

Abstract

This study aims at determining and understanding the factors causing domestic violence, procedures for investigating perpetrators of domestic violence at the Medan City Police, and the obstacles faced in investigating domestic violence at the Kota Besar Police Station. In this research, library research was conducted. The results of the study show that the factors causing the crime of domestic violence are in addition to environmental factors, association, the influence of mass media, films, soap operas apparently also influenced the attitudes and actions of a child or family member. Culture encourages women (wives) to submit to their husbands, especially economically. Society does not consider domestic violence as a social problem, but rather as an internal problem between husband and wife, other people may not interfere. It is mistaken understanding of religious teachings assuming that men may rule over women. The process of investigating perpetrators of domestic violence is as follows: complaints from victims are received through the Women's and Children's Service Unit (PPA) Picket Officers. Furthermore the officer advised the victim to do a Visum et Repertum. The officer who receives the complaint will make a Minute of the Investigation of the victim. Based on information from the victim, the investigator will examine witnesses and call or arrest the suspect (depending on the results of Visum et Repertum) to conduct an examination of the suspect. In carrying out investigations of domestic violence, investigators experience several obstacles, namely: Domestic violence has a relatively closed (private) scope and is closely guarded because of the occurrence in the family environment; Domestic violence is often considered reasonable because it is believed that treating a wife as he wishes is the husband's right as the leader and head of the household; Domestic violence occurs in legal institutions, namely marriages. This fact causes the public to not respond to the complaints of the victims of the crime of domestic violence they experience.

Abstract

Tourist satisfaction can be influenced by various factors, including factors providing information about attractions or tourism promotion, as well as service factors on attractions. This study aims to determine the effect of tourism promotion and service quality partially and simultaneously on tourist satisfaction in Medan Maimun Palace tourist attraction. The population of this research is tourists visiting Medan Maimun Palace in 2018 during May to July as many as 46,331 tourists. To determine the number of samples used the Slovin formula, obtained as many as 100 people. Data collection techniques in this research were questionnaire, interview and documentation study while the data analysis technique used is the classic assumption test, multiple regression, t test, F test and the coefficient of determination. The results showed that the variable of tourism promotion partially had a positive and significant effect on tourist satisfaction on the attractions of the Maimun Palace. The better the promotion of tourism, the satisfaction of tourists will be higher. The service quality variable partially has a positive and significant effect on tourist satisfaction on Maimun Palace tourist attraction. The higher the quality of service, then tourists will also feel more satisfied. The variable of tourism promotion and service quality simultaneously has a significant effect on tourist satisfaction on the attractions of Maimun Palace. The coefficient of determination shows that 86.10% of the variations in tourist satisfaction can be explained by tourism promotion and service quality simultaneously, while the remaining 13.90% is explained by other factors, such as ticket prices and the location of attractions in the Maimun Palace.

Abstract

Vannamei shrimp Aquaculture business opportunities in Indonesia are getting better. Great potential for Vannamei shrimp development is owned by Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. This study aims at analyzing the business by identifying internal and external environmental factors that influence the development of Vannamei shrimp culture and formulate alternative strategies that can be applied in the development of Vannamei shrimp culture in Langkat Regency. Quantitative analysis was applied to determine the internal and external environment in the form of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats and SWOT analysis. IFE Matrix, EFE Matrix, IE Matrix, and QSP Matrix are used for quantitative analysis. The IFE and EFE matrices show that this business has internal and external conditions at a moderate and average position. It was found that the best strategy was to maintain and develop the business horizontally according to the IE Matrix. The SWOT matrix recommends six alternative strategies that can be grouped, namely: Increase production and land use potential. The priority strategy in this study using the QSP Matrix is ​​to maintain production stability.
